There is an old tweet from him showing the top 50 cards for the MTGO Vintage cube from a year ago, you can find it easily. Following his content for some time now, based on his comments, I'd say probably about 10 cards have changed in this top 50 list since then ? Like Blue based control has lost some steam since (cards like Jace and Dack Fayden are probably out), whereas White weenie and wheel based decks have grown stronger, with stuff like Initiative cards, Reprieve, Comet, Hullbreacher, and Orcish Bowmasters making their way in the list ?
@@CuriousShrimp I actually feel like the list has changed QUITE a bit since the last one he posted (which I'm pretty sure was more than a year ago) Last list I saw didn't have academy anywhere on it
@@CuriousShrimpI mean I’ve seen him take bow masters over Oko p1p1 which probably means that he thinks it’s power 9 (minus timetwiser, plus mana crypt/sol ring) and then bow masters now
For sure. I knew it was good, but I was still surprised to hear him describe it as the best non-power card in the cube. You sure do see why when it gets played, though.
Since you said you read all the comments. If you ever open 2 moxes in pack 2 or 3, but there is another card in the pack that is tailor made for your deck, you should pass the moxes even if the card you took in its stead is the weaker card in your deck. Your team still gets 1 mox, but the assignment of key cards to decks should be more advantangeous. Obviously very dependent on the rest of the pack, since you dont want to pass an entomb and two moxes for example. But if there are 3 strong cards, then taking the one that isn't a mox and fits into your deck could be a nice way to get an edge.
@@danplath1 Potentially, but if that "nice card for your deck" doesn't exist, then you will just take a mox. The obvious example would be 2 moxes, a minsc and boo, and a bunch of weaker cards. If you are red green, you should take boo, since you can make great use of it without going out of your way, while your teammate 2 seats down may not be able to. At some point though, there is nothing that exciting for you in the pack, and taking the mox allows your teammate the chance to get a card for his deck rather than be 'forced" to take a mox, which is the generically good card. Moxes are better in some decks than others, so sometimes it will be correct to take the mox for that reason. Also having the mox match your colors is a nice bonus. tldr: in a double mox pack, sometimes the mox really matches your deck. If so, take it. But if there is another card that slots in nicely or you just don't need a mox as much as your teammates are likely to, then you are better off passing it.
Have you thought about trying exanguinator cavalry in the cube? It’s a card which has seen some fringe legacy play on powerlevel which is usually a good sign for vintage cube, and is in a sweet spot of just being a pretty powerful card on its own to turbo out or just play in a midrangey/aggressive deck while also having some artifact and reanimator/discard synergies.
Just checking if LSV reads all the comments like he claims 😂. Please post more vintage cube content. Most of my friends and I are too old/busy to keep up with new sets in standard. Plus real degens only love vintage😂
Huh, afaik you don't usually maindeck shadowspear, but I'd guess that their team picked up enough signals to pin LSV's team on drafting multiple aggressive decks. Seemed to work out. It's so unfortunate when your opponents are smart. Edit: did less than I thought it would lmao, still cool to see the flip side of that kind of decision since we usually only get insight into LSV's deck-building decisions.
you know, one might argue the best Boros decks would get 3-0 finishes. ;) . Jokes aside, nice to see you on the other side of one of these juiced up aggro decks.
also, the effects that make City of Brass a little better are mostly absent in the cube I think? like, City of Brass is fractionally better than Mana Confluence if you have damage prevention or Worship effects, but if there's nothing like that, then it's really just worse
Armageddon and Tangle Wire don't seem too great. Dead cards unless one is already winning. It's hard to get ahead, especially against opponents that are equal skill level. I think Flametongue Kavu should be always main deck. It kills every every Initiative creature, Urza, Questing Beast and others. Not to mention it's great against aggro decks in general. Underrated card.
i can't for the life of me understand what you were thinking when you chumped the pirate w flickerwisp g1 vs tank. what am i missing? that just seemed so crazy wrong that i feel like i am missing some part of your thought process, him getting a monarch draw vs you having another 3 power attacker in that situation can not be it
then g2 vs beine, i kind of thought the line i preferred was flickerwisp to mox, since you dont't know when you are going to see the 2nd white anyway, play spellbomb t1, which leaves you t2 you can draw off bomb/or kill mana dork, then samwise, replay bomb, with an eye to eorlingas t3 instead, for 3 instead of the 2 on t2. obv the mana vault draw made your line better, but i do think in the dark about drawing vault i like this line a little better, as with any land drop, 2 eorlingas tokens on t2 does 16 by t5, and 3 on t3 does 18 by turn 5, and you could have used spellbomb and nothing else to close at that point.
I hope and pray every day we eventually get that top 50 vintage cube card list that he offhandedly mentions every now and then

Watch enough videos and you'll get a sense for it anyway
Wasn't there an episode of LR that was basically this? When he talked about his Cube?

23 minutes in and the opponent has every single conceivable counterspell, damn.
LSV Red-White is guaranteed 2-1 every time you love to see it. Boros Battalion stand up!
The best thing about spending a couple of weeks abroad for work is that I now have myself a nice backlog of lsv drafts to binge!
Watching Forth Eorlingas go nuts NEVER gets old!

By that logic, shouldn't the next person do the same?

You aren’t wrong, and I look for spots to do this
Ancient tomb was so good this draft. I'm glad it got its time to shien.
That Tange Wire felt like a Mulligan each time. Not sure it's good for any non Mishra's Workshop decks
SandyDog would be proud of young LSV 😅😅😅😅😅
thanks for the daily offering LSV! loving the MKM updates!

I loved that grey ogre beatdown game
Your vintage cube draft videos are the Time Walk of entertainment.
I watch these just hear him squeal " oohhh mox ruby". Lol
Watching these most every day and enjoying overall, but I like the 4v4's much more than the 3v3's. I can't say exactly why lol
Access to more cards, better decks as a result

There will be no shortage of cube content

''Tangle wire continues to suck'' - it hurt my right it the feels. I love Tangle Wire, my favorite decks back in the day was Stax and MUD.
Are you going to the pro tour LSV ?
Sure am
good luck!!!!!!!!@@LSVargas
so sad tanglewire didn't get to shine, it was in one of my first ptq (sealed) top 8s, but finally got to see pyro get played....
Tangle wire was rough, but still one of my favorite cards
Thanks! Enjoyed this very much
Match 1. I don’t at all mind opponents tanking to make complicated decisions, but slow play on every game action kinda tilts me.
This Austrian crew is great no question, but we need to show them some modo hotkeys or something 😴
you know, one might argue the best Boros decks would get 3-0 finishes. ;) . Jokes aside, nice to see you on the other side of one of these juiced up aggro decks.
Great deck, I love Mardu
As it turns out, instant speed fury can be insanely busted sometimes.
I’m really happy with gleaming geardrake I love that card
18:08 @Luis Scott-Vargas i see you put the drake in your cube to appease Marshall lol
Lasav, wearer of faces... perhaps we can have a return of Phyrexian Dreadnought...?
He had it in the cube for like one video and then it got cut.
Anton's nickname, 4beine, means "4 legs" quite literally
Quick, weird Q, LSV - why Mana confluence included vs. City of Brass?
City of Brass deals damage when it is tapped even if by an opponents card effect, so Mana Confluence is ever so slightly stronger.
Mostly for Urborg/Dryad effects that provide other mana abilities
I imagine it’s also a bit more time consuming for the clock with the triggers.
also, the effects that make City of Brass a little better are mostly absent in the cube I think? like, City of Brass is fractionally better than Mana Confluence if you have damage prevention or Worship effects, but if there's nothing like that, then it's really just worse
Daily LSV!
Get Paul back in here!
Okay new goal, build a commander deck from only cards available in this cube

4beine means 4 legs. You can pronounce it like "fear bye neh" 😅
Rabble rabble good games rabble rabble

Tangle wire used to be so good in cube, it's a shame it's fallen so far
Ajani Vengeant ?
4beine means 4legs so you can call him that lol
LSV will read this comment that is completely devoid of content because he apparently reads all the comments.
True
.
At 7:58, I'm not sure if I agree with the chrome mox pick. It feels like this could have been a very good Shelldock Isle deck.
how could this be good with shelldock when there are 0 blue cards?
@@AlexCuevas91it's a joke because LSV says that about any deck that can remotely play shelldock
