I spent all my day trying to install a software, but some reason the w11 dont allow me to run an .exe. Following the steps that you teach, turning the defender down, i've finally installed the software. You just saved my day. Thank you very much my friend. 😍👍👍👍
Thank you bro! Without your tutorial I would have gone bald, I hope your a teacher in the world you explain things so calm and nice and you don’t have an annoying voice!
Hi Brian, In my first response I promised to come back with a response. Well, I can hardly believe it myself............, I succeeded immediately. I am so very happy with this just amazing. Thank you very much and I will visit your channel often. yours sincerely, Harry from Tilburg (Netherlands)
Good afternoon Thank you very much for this tutorial. I was blocked for several months because of this antivirus which cancelled all the downloads that I had to carry out and I was really depressed. Thanks to you I have been able to deactivate the antivirus and this has enabled me to download the software that allows me to work at ease. I've seen all the videos on how to deactivate this antivirus and I haven't been able to do it until now. Thanks again and bravo......................................! May God bless you
I believe it is gonna work until Microsoft starts messing with the Registries, which has a really thin chance of happening so this is a really good tutorial.
This is awesome, I created a text file for quick reference on systems I work on. Hey it is not that Defender is any worse or better it is just Microsoft the controlling your life.
How would one re-enable windows defender? Need to disable just to install a driver and then want to turn back on. Would I simply remove all of the dword values that we created? Thanks for the great video!
Im guessing you should have made a backup of the registry before tampering with it then revert back to the original reg file, also saving the modified version when you need to disable defender.
The windows defender now runs in the background EVEN AFTER you disabled it. It's insane how hard they want to force us to use this absolute mediocre and useless antivirus.
Thank you! This seams to work. I collect old computers and I when I download a game from 2000 or something with a crack windows defender deletes the crack. It's SO annoying.
Great video bro. I found this video because Windows defender keeps flagging a file that I was trying to run; even after I disabled all Defender Settings in Security section. Is it possible if after doing all these tweaks, I export the windows defender registry ; then if I want to turn it back on ; I will just import the old ones back ?
Unfortunately failed at step 1, clicked on virus protection and it said I have some administrator (who the fuck is that) that has limited my access to the app. Fucking corporate policies loaded on my personal PC so I can work from home......
If you have common sense like not opening sus links in emails or downloading stuff you shouldn't be from fishy websites then you don't need it. Or maybe if you're already using an another antivirus program
so complicated for no reason. I dont need an anti virus and they make it so complicated to turned off I hate them sometime... Thanks for this video Britec it helped alot. I wish ms would just let us turned off with 1 click but oh well
Norton missed that my networking had been changed to 'Public'. Another, recommended by my service provider, made a complete hash of re-subscribing every single time, on four different laptops. That one works well on Sandra's Android phone. But it is a waste of time on Windows. I do get asked to confirm some 3rd party programs I need for amateur radio, photo and video processing. Windows Defender asked me to vouch for those, and I had no more obstructions. No Virus Defender can be perfect. It is an ever-evolving area in computing. But, right now, Windows Defender looks to me more competent than some of the others I have come across.
Thanks Brian for the video. But my question is; where do you get those created REG names? how is the registry name have impact on the registry function? Cn any regname from my head works as long as it has keywords for the functions?
if you have an old antiquated system (8700k and below) disable it.. 9900k is entry level, you can leave defender on and there isn't any noticeable performance issue. any newer cpu can still leave it on.
thanks for the help but i noticed when you were changing the 'turn off real-time protection' setting you set it to disabled when it was supposed to be enabled
if you use your own antivirus , can you just install it and leave all that alone ? i notice in windows 10 if you install your own antivirus then windows defender automatically gets disabled.
If you installed Win 10 in 2023, Windows will keep deleting the DisableAntiSpyware key after about 24 hours (even if you don't restart your computer). So Defender still restarts after about 24 hours. The only way to keep Defender off is to keep the "Virus & threat protection settings" window open on your desktop showing the Real-time protection toggle, and keep switching this toggle to off - windows will regularly switch it back to on.
@@ZIRAEL517 I was able to create the keys as Administrator, but now Windows is deleting the DisableAntiSpyware key after 24 hours, and Defender restarts.
@@Peppermint1 open settings>Privacy & Security>Windows security>Virus & threat protection, click on *Manage settings* under the Virus & threat protection settings tab, tell me if the real time protection is off and managed by administrator or not.
Windows 11 is bloody relentless. What is the point in having the options to turn off real time protection and tamper protection if Windows 11 quarantines my files anyway? Microsoft needs to stop deciding what it thinks is best for me! Everyday we lose more control. You can't create a windows profile without them forcing you to create a Microsoft account. They also force you to use OneDrive now by putting it between C: drive and desktop (can be changed but so annoying). Microsoft needs step back and stop forcing things on their users.
I've done EVERYTHING like in the video , even used O&O software, still after restart MICROSOFT DEFENDER ANTIVIRUS SERVICE is RUNNING and set on AUTOMATIC (Win 11 Pro ver. 21H2 ) .
The hell I am doing all that....I am 2 minutes from loading Linux and to hell with Win 11. This is wrong and why the hell do they want to plaster my full name all over my onw PC, I can't share my screen without DOXing myself.
MS must have gotten tired of the complaints because they added a "Disable Real-time Protection" switch in the Security section. They warn you that it will turn itself back on at some point, but at least I was able to transfer and run the file I need to run.
they always had that, but problem is it doesnt turn it off permantly which many people need, i run a low end pc for server, but antimalware sometimes hogs the cpu with 100%
Hello, I just tried this on version 23H2, the real time protection is off/managed by your company, but the real time scanner is still active and it found several or the new keys.
Hey, @Britec09. I have three questions. First, what is your (not just you but everyone who posts registry tweaks) source for registry information? Google shows a million and one pages of registry hacks but finding something like "Registry 101" has been difficult. Second, would removing Defender components from the ISO image in NTLite achieve the same thing? Third, if the presence of a third-party AV disables Defender automatically, what would be the point of editing the Registry? Great video but I'd like to know *_why_* as well as *_how._*
Brian I am not savvy enough to see why one should go to such lengths to shut off Windows Defender - what is the problem with the service? I will just feel naked without it.

It's absolutely insane that MS is doing this, it takes all this effort to use your own hardware? How are people not outraged by this!
Because MS collects our own user data via these methods and sells them, like Tencent and Facebook does.

If you installed Win 10 in 2023, Windows will keep deleting the DisableAntiSpyware key after about 24 hours (even if you don't restart your computer). So Defender still restarts after about 24 hours.
