  • Disable Windows 11 Services You Don't Need
    Windows 10 and Windows 11 are known to be system resource hogs that eat up all your system memory and use a lot of utilisation of the system which can make the pc feel sluggish and slow. So disabling unwanted services in windows 11 can help gain back the needed system resource. Remember to only disable unnecessary services in Windows 11. So you may ask, what services can I disable in Windows 11? The services that you don't need.
    Example: Connected User Experiences and Telemetry: This will disable Feedback, Telemetry and Data Collection.
    Windows 11 services are a crucial part of Windows and disabling Windows services can make some features of Windows not work. So I advise people not to tweak Windows in this way other wise you run the risk of breaking Windows 11. Remember if a service is set to manual and the service is not running, it will not impact the PC. Only running services impact the computer and take up system resources, but if you have a modern computer, your utilization and system resources should be minimal.

      I do disable services I don't use, and set some app-related services to manual. But as I do, I write them down on a Notepad and save it as, Services so I can turn them back on later if I find that I need them.

      Nope do not disable services here. Unless you take copious notes in a book noting the date when you disable these services. The days of tweaking settings are long ago for me. Reminds me of WindowsXP days. Reminds me of BlackViper list of services

    Video starts out well but gradually becomes less informative about what the services are and skips many services. If we knew what the services were we wouldn’t be watching the video. You seem to give up on it half way through …”.if you don’t want this one then turn it off” Duh! I stopped watching at 9.5 minutes because you had resorted to just reading them out as they appear on the screen. You have a nice presentaton style and it would be good if you did the video again but maintained how you start off.

    This is so difficult to decide. Older software may still depend on their own active x ocx's for their functionality rather than using dll's. Also, some services may have dependencies to parent services. It's really up to the developers which have their own style of coding. A good way to check these issues can be monitored with system internals. Unless those services are clearly defined, my practice is - if you have a decent system (cpu, ram, etc.), they are doing no harm and left alone. You never know when you install an app that will suddenly depend on services you disabled. What a quagmire ! Good one Brian - Thank you sir!

    • @Chewiebakke
      @Chewiebakke 2 года назад

      @@rajkishorebehera7489 Microsoft's service is called 'intelligent', not 'intelligence'. It allows intelligent use of networks to download programs and data in the background, hopefully without saturating your connection and ruining internet performance while you're playing games. Turning it off might make Windows Update or other such background downloading apps fail or ruin your K:D ratio in Fortnite etc.
      If you have a service running that us actually named 'background intelligence transfer', I would investigate and be very suspicious of it.

    All your videos are very informative and have value and this one is no exception. As a tech myself I would like to point out however, that many of the services you mention are set to "Manual" and aren't already running and therefore won't account for CPU usage. As a best practice, I almost always leave this setting as is in case Windows, being the fickle thing that it is, requires it.

    • @Britec09
      @Britec09  2 года назад +7

      That is correct James, the services that are not running will have no impact on the system resources and they are normally set to manual. You will find nowadays a lot of services are set to manual and service is not running, which means it won't impact system resources. So a lot will do nothing unless they are a running service.

    I understand that people think disabling services saves system resources, however all services that have manual as default startup type will most of the time not be running at all and not use a single clock cycle or single byte of ram when left as is. Also like you already said services have a purpose, disabling them disables certain Windows features. They are not bloatware. If you are running low on resources try stopping other applications either running open or minimized or even in the system tray. There is much more to gain from closing as much of non OS software as you can. The only 2 that have serious impact are automatic updates (only when actual downloading and installing updates is in progress, when you are all done it does not take up anything significant). The other one is defender, other anti virus products have a similar impact as defender on performance, so switching is futile. The differences you will see depend on the default settings of the chosen product. If you want less impact you can configure defender to do things like only do realtime on disk writes only not reads, and make exclusions for folders that have things in them that get updated a lot. For example make exclusion you can turn on for your steam folder that you can use when you update your games.

Windows 11 installed on modern PC (i don`t see any reason for avarege user to install 11 on old PC, except graphic design) and in most cases this manipulation don`t bring you any boost of performances that you can feel.

    Youre the man. Do you know much about how the windows audio pipeline? Theres more IT work today around the area of video uc meetings and theres just this never ending barage of problems where windows constantly have to change default audio outputs and inputs. There are fairly newly implemented functions in windows regarding audio permissions. One can give an application ability to fully take control of an audio device, im guessing its to avoid the problem with constantly changing audio I/O but what if you have 2 applications with this permission, say a softphone app and perhaps google meet in the web browser, which app gets precedence? Where Can I find a setting for that? I cant find ant info anywhere of it but this has to be a fairly common problem for todays IT-pro. A video of this would be very much appreciated or if you could point me the n the right direction. I just can’t belive there isnt detailed info about this anywhere. Been on about 4 different offices the last 2 years. It’s a constant problem wherever you go.

    Most all of your recommendations were set to Manual (and not running) in my mini-pc. I assume that this means that so far, no program has requested or needed this service?

    id love to put windows 11 on my main desktop but when i enable secure boot on my motherboard it bricks my windows 10 (it wont boot/show the uefi in the bios)
    i have the asrock x570 phantom gaming motherboard
    tpm 2 is already enabled (bios update did that) and im on the latest bios version and i know my 3700x is supported
    if i look in windows 10 it says legacy install
    got any ideas how to fix it so i can install windows 11 without making/using a modded windows 11 install (just in case microsoft decides to brick those kinds of installs in the future)

      If you installed Windows 10 as MBR (Legacy) then Secure Boot is not supported, and that is why it wont start. Too much to do here. (Convert to GPT, add an EFI partition) You would be better off backing up your data, and re-installing 10. I'm assuming that you want an in place upgrade, and not a dual boot.

    I know there's probably not much of a difference but is there a windows 10 version of this video? Also do you know which services are safe to switch to manual or delay in order to get a faster bootup?
