Another straight forward way is to join a domain. Yes, that means you have to have at least Windows 10 or 11 Pro and a server running a domain controller, but I'm seriously considering putting Windows server on my file server just to be able to shut all that crap off with one simple action. If only that worked for all the other people collecting our data.

The only issue with this tip is the likelihood that,
    A. You will need to re do it after every update due to the rules being reset and or the spyware being renamed.
    B. Ms knowing that people do this will create backdoors through the firewall surreptitiously, probably creating exploits for hackers to take advantage of.
A third party firewall might be a slightly better choice for this.
    On a side note.
If an application that’s blocked by the third party firewall causes the computer to freeze or crash but doesn’t when blocked by the ms firewall or there’s no internet connection you know there’s something smelly going on. Especially if the application shouldn’t need internet access.

    * Question to you sir if you don't mind. After turning on my desktop PC this morning 28/06/2023, I received a message that the Windows firewall is not on nor active. The irritating thing is that one can't get the FW to reset itself by clicking the "red reset " button as if there is nothing behind it! I used a restore to restore my system with luckily only a few problems. What I need to know is, could it be that the mass of telemetry issues turned off in the advance-section-of-the-FW would have had anything to do with crashing the firewall. If so, how can I go ahead and correct/reverse all these setting back to normal. Thank so much for your valuable video's and advice always.

I'm very sceptical that this works. Since early windows 10 days, svchost's connections to microsoft servers completely bypass HOSTS file blocking. The telemetry also reverts to hardcoded IP-addresses if you try to block dns queries of microsoft URLs. I have every reason to believe that for telemetry, svchost just completely ignores the built in firewall.

I found the website linked in this video, the initial post was done September 24th 2015. Reading the comments below it on that post there are a lot of issues people are running into like not being able to access certain websites, and not being able to use windows updates. I am a very privacy focused person to the point that I use pihole and unbound dns, but I am also worried about being able to download security updates from microsoft still. This isn't me crapping on your video, it has me intrigued, but I need to investigate more first. I also saw a comment that wireshark shows microsoft can bypass it's own host file rules so I wouldn't be surprised if it can bypass it's own firewall rules too? I do use Chris Titus's script to remove telemetry and I also use O&O Shutup 10+

Is ESET still letting this data go through and can adding that batch file stop ESET form doing that? Now I have added that script and when I open Advanced settings I can see that script at the top of the listings and it says stopped but the rest are listed as all? Plus mate it seems to me that there are more settings to take over from the settings one blocks and it is a real circus of swings and roundabouts that one must negotiate to make sure Microsoft don't get one's data.

I could NOT get this Batch file to work!! After 30 minutes or so, I just about threw in the towel.
This is/was SOOOOO friggen stupid of me, DON'T make this mistake or brain fart as I did.
After running the Batch file, go back to your fire wall, you will see NOTHING has been, simply close or refresh, then reopen.
It there now.....A simple refresh was driving me stupid!!

You're talking about using a software tool that comes from the United States and arguably the world's biggest spy and disrespects the privacy of billions ans has been for literally 22 plus years.
