Great source of knowledge,- very much appreciated 😇 Any idea why my laptop blocks Stirling - it reported a concern before downloading and now refuses to initialise ( 80% block). Redownloaded twice to no avail so must be a security setting in W10?
@GeorgyGoogle Hey! So they have completely changed Stirling since I created the video. Previously it was just a web portal for Windows users but now there an executable you have to download and run . So I did, and also got an error at 90% initializing. SO, I went to the developer's site and this is a bug reported this week, thought to be related to Anti-virus/Firewall in Windows as it does not affect everyone. I was able to download and run the "Test" release version and it runs fine. The developer has notes that states they will have a bug fix in the upcoming release this week or next. Thank you for pointing this out!

Some good ideas here. Used Revo uninstaller earlier this year on my Win10. It removes stubborn software MS doesn't want us to remove. But be careful, it could potentially mess up your system more than you would like to. Registries are better left alone. I found my Win10 messed up and had to reinstall. I cannot say for sure it was due to Revo use, but the potential is there. Plus that software for optimising Windows? I don't know what else it does that Windows don't do already, like storage sense, for free. And since bloatware and telemetry slow down this MS spyware, unless the optimising software reduces those processes, I don't see how it makes the PC significantly more responsive. Just another software running on top of the OS and other apps.
Hi, Revo creates a restore point before removing any registry values but you are correct it is always a possibility. The optimization tools just group windows tools together in one spot, especially handy for novice users. I appreciate the feedback.
Does the ShareX screen recorder also record sound from the screen? Currently I am using Pickpic, but the screen recorder does not pick up sound from the screen. It gives me a codec related prompt. I am not all that informed about codecs and the software support has not yet replied to my email.
@behramcooper3691 Hi, Yes it does. Just go to task settings, Screen recording, screen recording settings, and select your audio source. You should see your default audio source from windows and just select it. You can also record from your mic while screen recording. Hope this helps
I can see where a suite like Libre is fine on its own, or if you're doing a project with others using the same version. But how smooth would things go if you're involved in some kind of big project and some people are on Office360, others on Libre, others on Docs? If there *are* still issues, it seems like the only sure way around would be to get everyone on the same page, so to speak. Or would there be such issues after all this time? I don't know, just asking.

Are there any Quicken-compatible personal bookkeeping apps for LINUX that can download transactions from my bank? Are there any accurate tax prep apps (USA) for LINUX that can e-file with the IRS (and run locally, not on the web)? In October 2025 I am migrating my personal computing from Windows 10 to Mac to avoid Windows 11’s violations of my privacy, but I would RATHER go to Linux. These two apps are the only roadblocks to going to Linux. Any ideas?
Hi, this is actually a future project I have planned. I am still in the early stages of planning so check back with my channel. I have noticed a gap in financial software for Linux so I will see what I can find. Thank you!
@ If there is anything I can do with my outdated IBM mainframe skills (I can learn some more as needed), from my home in Oregon, please let me know. If nothing else I can test apps!
Thank you for the tips on free and useful software. I already knew about most of them, but a couple of them will be gamechangers for me. Thanks. I don't save many videos, but I saved this one and downloaded a couple programs that you recommended. 1 new sub
Second comment. Are you a Linux user? I'm thinkin of making the switch, here in a couple of months, because my machines are getting old. I'm down to 2 modern ones and 2 oldies-but-goodies. Only one of my "modern" ones is compatible with windows 11. I'm thinking of switching all except one of them to a Mint flavor and then dual booting my newest machine. I am only vaguely familiar with Linux, having tried it on a system 18 years ago. I wasn't impressed back then, but it seems to have come a long way since then. Perhaps it's time. Are you a Linux user?
Why not break away from the mold and throw on a customized cut down version of win 11 or better still Win 10. They make your machine fly again. But Microsoft have recently said they will not restrict what Win 11 can be installed on ... or something to that effect. If you want to go over to Linux .... Zorin is a good place to start.
I make no claims that it is Open source. It has been free for years and according to their website they may potentially charge for advanced features in the future with no immediate plans to do so. Thanks for watching

@AndžejMichmelHealthcoach Hi, In the video, the program Revo Uninstaller is the one you want to use to remove programs. I will always advise caution when removing registry values especially with Windows defaults. Make sure your data is backed up first. Thanks for watching!
Its not a question of better but which one you like the most. I prefer the latest version of Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon edition. Its similar to Windows so easy to transition. That just my opinion.Theres a vido on my channel about it.
@RayKnowsTech whichever is easier like windows I tried windows FX... It didn't work at all... Couldn't use any software like windows... Not easy like windows at all🤔😢 I want to put Linux because most of my computer became old and Windows doesn't update it
Hey! Revo just has more tools like Hunter Mode, Startup Manager, Junk Files Cleaner, and Browser History Cleaner that Geek doesnt offer. Thanks for watching!
No MS Office alternative includes an Outlook option that connects to an MS Exchange server. MS offers an online version of Outlook which is accessible through a browser on any OS. It is possible that Evolution will connect to an Exchange server, but it is tricky. Thunderbird is good, but it will bot connect to an Exchange server to synchronize the Outlook calendar between/among multiple computers.
Hey! That is correct but if you are looking for calendar sync specifically it will work across google. Unfortunately some of us will still need to use Outlook and Microsoft. Thanks for the feedback!
It is available I just checked it, however, I think Microsoft does something weird regionally because I have had two other people say it was not available for them and then the next day it shows available.

@@FoolishOdyssey that's going to be the issue is finding one that will sync to mobile. That's what is good about GoodSync. I don't personally use a file sync tool but rather cloud storage so files are accessible across all platforms and devices.
@@RayKnowsTech thats just crazy enough to work!
@@RayKnowsTech what about PC to google drive?
Thank you
Im glad the video was helpful and I appreciate the feedback. Thank you!
Thank you, Sir!!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Hi Ray. Thank you for this info. Already dumped Adobeand next will be Microsoft Ofiice which I pay for. However, I work with One Drive - what is the alternative please?
@friksteyn8887 Hi, That will depend on your use case but personally I use google drive.
Why not purchase windows 10 ltsc? It will still have quite a few years of updates depending on which you purchase.
Thank you for making this video, I subscribed and liked your channel. best of luck.
Thanks for the sub. It is much appreciated!
good video, several of these I didn't know about :)
I appreciate the support. Check out the video I just dropped today. I did a compilation of 39 programs.
Thank you for the tips on free and useful software. I already knew about most of them, but a couple of them will be gamechangers for me. Thanks. I don't save many videos, but I saved this one and downloaded a couple programs that you recommended. 1 new sub
I'm glad to hear that you found some new game-changing software! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
thanks a lot .
Most welcome!
Hey, check out the video I did on Linux Mint. I like it the nest switching from Windows.
Pdfgear is not open source. It is only momentarily free. Plus, it sometimes shows pop-ups.
I make no claims that it is Open source. It has been free for years and according to their website they may potentially charge for advanced features in the future with no immediate plans to do so. Thanks for watching
Thanks Ray. That's a first class range of free software.
Thank you for the feedback! Im glad you enjoyed it.
Subscribed! Thank you!
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate the support
Thanks for that great advice. Have you any recommendations on good task managementment software?
What are you currently using? OpenProject comes to mind but I may have a better Idea based on what you currently use. Thanks!
I’m using MS ToDo, but I’d like to be able to control my workload. I’ve heard there is AI based task managers. It’s for personal rather than business use.
I subscribed and liked your channel Thank you for taking your time to make this video,

Where are the links to all these programs?
In the description of the video
Thanks for your kind sharing, Ray. 😊
You're very welcome! I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Hi Ray, I tried to download PC manager but Microsoft store message says coming soon, currently not available? Any thoughts on this? Thanks 3 other programs that you've recommended are excellent, especially Bitdefender and Proton. Cheers.
Hey! I did a follow up video on this. "Every Windows 11 user needs this tool" apparently Microsoft has regional restrictions and PC Manager isnt available everywhere. Check out the newer video its on Wintoys and I actually like it better
Thankyou this is really good. I have subscribed!
Thanks for subbing!
FYI, Libre office will create, modify, and just about anything PDF...
I have an upcoming video on this along with another tool that falls under the radar for its PDF capability
hey ray how about giving us a link that we can download some of these free programs instead of linking us to a video that you made about them . I'm new here so that would really be helpful for new guys like me. thanks
Hi Daniel, The links to the download sites are directly below the links to the videos in the description. Providing links to the full installation videos for additional help is a courtesy. SInce you are new, asking politely for help is more appropriate than tellling a creator what they did wrong. Thanks
Thanks

Very useful compilation of free tools.
Im glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video!!! Any free software for proofreading?
Hey! Grammarly has a free version. Im sure ther are some limitations
Thumbs up, commented and subscribed. Thank you

Great video, thank you for sharing

Thank you a lot for a such valuable content! Please, help me to understand (I'm not a computer gig) - I want to use few of these amazing tools, but.. what should i do with those bloody built-in windows apps? Is it possible to get rid off them? How? Thank you very much for any advice😊
@AndžejMichmelHealthcoach Hi, In the video, the program Revo Uninstaller is the one you want to use to remove programs. I will always advise caution when removing registry values especially with Windows defaults. Make sure your data is backed up first. Thanks for watching!
@RayKnowsTech thank you a lot i will do it :)
Long live bro 😎, you are a legend!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you found the video helpful!
Great choices!
Thanks!
Which Linux is better?
Its not a question of better but which one you like the most. I prefer the latest version of Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon edition. Its similar to Windows so easy to transition. That just my opinion.Theres a vido on my channel about it.
@RayKnowsTech whichever is easier like windows
I tried windows FX... It didn't work at all... Couldn't use any software like windows...
Not easy like windows at all🤔😢
I want to put Linux because most of my computer became old and Windows doesn't update it
@@JP-uz3nk Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon edition would be my suggestion
@RayKnowsTech thanks
Thank you sir, good free software choices!
You're welcome! Thank you for watching
every one are all good
if revo uninstaller compare with geek, which one is better? thansk
Hey! Revo just has more tools like Hunter Mode, Startup Manager, Junk Files Cleaner, and Browser History Cleaner that Geek doesnt offer. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot for most useful resource
You are most welcome
Thank you!!! from the Philippines
Thank you for watching! It means a lot to have support from viewers all the way in the Philippines. Enjoy the software!
Is Proton VPN safe??
Yes it is. They have not had any breeches as of yet. Thanks for watching
@RayKnowsTech thank you
Done. Thanks for your great channel
Thank you so much for your kind words! Your support means a lot to me!
Microsoft PC Manager is not available.
It is available I just checked it, however, I think Microsoft does something weird regionally because I have had two other people say it was not available for them and then the next day it shows available.
@@RayKnowsTech Maybe in your country but not in Europe.
There are regional restrictions apparently I was not aware of. Its available for Most. Im making a new video that addresses this. Thanks
