What most people dont know, these guys are in for service at the Kings Guards for 10 months, and thats it, so to perform a drumline like this takes ALOT of training, these guys train probably around 10-12 hours a day for 10 months and then they go back to their normal lives! All of them are usually in their 18-21 years of age! Amazing and make me prud every day!
As a former soldier I served in this army HMKG (The Norwegian Kings Cuards). Tha fact is that theese soldiers has less than 10 months of training as syncronized group. Many others train for years and years and still theese guys pulls of every year with a brand new crew. There are several good drumlines out there but check out the razor sharp drill. Just wow...
Let me just say as an American who's seen lots of HBCU and DCI drumlines: Holy. Shit. Those were some of the most ice cold visuals I have ever seen. They were so tight. OMFG indeed.
HIS MAJESTY THE KING,S GUARD ....THIS YOUNG MEN ARE ONLY SERVICEMEN....NOT PROFFESIONALS...AROUND 19/20 YEARS OLD....ONE YEAR WITH HARD WORK AND DICIPLINE. RESPECT!
wow! that drumline stuff is awesome! I used to play quads in marching band in high school. . . never sounded as good as the people on this video, but it sure brought memories back.
Even though the playing itself was only par for a drumline with any skill, they do deserve some props for the stick trick visuals and the choice of song...gotta love "Tequila"
@eoinok101 The thing is though, that these people are from the royal guard, (the millitary). They are Norway's elite unit, they undergo some extreme training in warfare and diciplin (also by standing guard on Akershus Fort and outside the castle). As if this wasn't enough they have to coordinate something for the yearly millitary tattoo AND 17th of May (Norway's national day). And all of this in one year. Next year it's somebody else's turn. Still they manage to be among the best every year.
Wow!! That's my crew!!! :D If I remember the floors correctly, this is from Globen in Stockholm back in 2000. - The drummers playing here are some of the best guys I've met :) thx a lot for posting this! /proud trombone-player
this is a true tradition drum and bugle corp line. noticed the bells and early style bass drum and pitched snares. its nice to see this style and would be cool if the now day "cowboys" would incorporate some of the roots back into a "drum and bugle corps."
Their movements are tight as hell. I agree with the drums they use. Defenent differences in head and shell. Sound is broader, but you can still be together and they are, no doubt.
Read a comment on an earlier video, "They may be marines, but they're still human." Well, whether these guys are marines or not, they're definitely not human.
What makes these guys better than other drum coprses, is that these guys are all new recruits. they have only been in HMKG for 1 year. they are replaced every year with new recruits.
