Not to make your head any bigger, but to be a drummer in the Ohio State Marching Band is elite. So many talented high school and adult drummers can only dream of doing this. Congrats on the accomplishment and you rock!
I just want you to know - I work with folks living with dementia. I found out that one gentleman I sit with was a drummer during his college years. I played this video for him and wow oh wow, did you just make his entire evening. It's like he was there. I am sure we will be watching again.
I was at this game. I have to say hands down the best part of the entire game was OSU band. When you played the WKU fight song and spelled out our school on the field was an incredible!! We traveled from Bowling Green to watch the game and that is something I won't forget!!
That was pretty dang cool My son's high school band got an invitation to the high school competition you guys have up there. He was a freshman then. He loved it. Me being born and raised in Columbus loved it too. So much so that i cried watching him perform on the field. My dad was a huge Buckeye fan and would've loved to have seen that. His grandson playing where his favorite team played. So bittersweet bc he passed when my son was a year old. I know he was smiling down on my son that day. Thank you for this.
Thank you for unknowingly inspiring high school marching band students! My son (trumpet) showed this to me and was so geeked out by the showmanship and pagentry. ❤️
Alex, you have no idea how powerful your video is going to be. My dad, who passed away in Aug. of ‘21 would have LOVED THIS!!! Especially the script, Ohio. So, I got kind of emotional and knew I needed to share it with the rest of the family. Keep up the good work. You’re making a lot people proud in ways you probably never imagined. 👍
oh what a FUN video. Ancient marcher here...from S Florida. Always impressed with your entrance and performances. But this is such a fun thing to watch!!! Well done, and thank you!!!
I'm a freshman in high school and am in the marching band on drumline as well i absolutely love the Ohio state marching band yo guys rock i love watching the go pro videos when a drumline member has it drumline rocks (GO OHIO STATE BUCKEYES)
A member of the Fightin Texas Aggie Band here, I always admired the energy of the members and the amazing performances by y'alls band. Keep up the amazing performances.
I see now why American Football draws the crowds it does... This is one of the coolest things i've ever seen! It really shows through how much fun you all have and how dedicated you all are to it.
I'm literally watched this vid multiple times and i'm still admiring the synchro of you guys. The moment when you walk out on the ramp and all together start walking is amazing and this specific kind of walking is also fantastic. Really nice to see this kind of stuff.

i was in a marchin band and this video only cure for my longing for the addict to drum sound the crowd cheering and the fun in the field... thanks for this video ..
This was an awesome video! Sure gave me another perspective on what it's like to be in a marching band. A lot of hard work and dedication. Go Buckeyes!!!
Awesome perspective of the ground view. I can’t get over how they know exactly where to go, example at 6:20 and 6:47 before getting in line to spell out OHIO.
as a band student , dci alumni this was amazing to watch. I am a Texas Longhorn fan too, but I love the pageantry of OSU and yalls marching band! Great stuff.
As a past MIghty Sound of Maryland trumpet player and Drum Major in the 90s, i have to say you all are very fun to watch!! Kudos to all you do and keep up the excellent work!!!
I love this it’s really inspiring for me because I play in the tivoli youth guard in Denmark so I just hope I can be in that band one day amazing drumming keep up the good work❤❤🎉
That brought back memories. I was percussion in my high school band. We played at the OSU invitational in the horseshoe. Not nearly as many people in the stands but still a great time.
At my high-school, which im a senior at, we do something called Script Elida. We do it once every year on the Home coming game. Its a cool experience for our small town.
TBDBITL was so inspiring to me when I was a kid in marching band in high school. To watch this pregame performance from you POV put such a smile on my face. You all are amazing- thanks for letting me revisit my high school band nerd days.
I'm just a random mom from WI with zero experience in marching band or with Ohio State and I'm watching this with my bluetooth speaker on full volume hyping y'all up like I'm in the stadium. 🤩
I remember watching Script Ohio at the Horseshoe as a kid in the 90s. This is so awesome. And it makes sense that it’s the dude who plays like the 4 drum thing making this video.
Alex, thanks so much for sharing. I never went to a big college or university. I marched in the band all through high school. I would have loved to have had the chance to march in just one big college game.
Amazing video. As an aside I love that the OSU band always plays some of the opposing team's fight song - very classy. They even do that for that team up north.
WOW, how fun was that to watch. Great job guys. Memories....You have made a life time of memories. I am a retired US Marine, and I approve this message :)
I've never even been to Ohio, but a few years ago a random video came across my RUclips feed. It was a video of drum major auditions for OSU. So what the heck. I watched it and kinda laughed my ass off. I couldn't believe it was a real video. But then I began to realize how much talent and athletic ability it took to perform the routines these guys and one gal, were doing. So, I began to dig deeper and watch other videos of the band. It became a fascinating pastime to watch the halftime shows. They're unbelievably intricate. It takes some kind of genius to pull off performances like that. I loved the Zeppelin one. I recently found the documentary that was shot about the 141st iteration of DBDBITL, and it was so informative and fun to watch. My sarcastic humor which I watched my first OSU band video, has turned to awe, respect, and absolute loyalty to a band I've never seen in a place I've never been. Your video came up in my recommendations today. Of course I had to watch it. It was fun taking a little ride with you and experiencing the pre-game show from my tiny perch on your hat! It was amazing to hear and see what you do. So, thank you so much for sharing this video. It's just one more reason to love your band. God bless. ❤🩶🖤🤍
Gary Hodges was our drum coordinator in High School before he joined Ohio State Marching Band staff. We played across the field with the same snare part. Thanks for behind the scene action!!
What a fantastic share. The JI Chant and MIB pre-show hype sections are like none I've seen, even after marching 4 summers of DCI on tenors and 3 in college. I love your energy and bonding rituals; they speak volumes about the Ohio State Marching Band culture.
I remember doing marching band in Highschool, but now I’m in the hockey band for my school which practices once a week for an hour and a half and I’m out of the heat. Some beautiful 8-4 marching in the opening there though. Best of luck with y’all’s season
Great video and listening to a marching band whether it's High School or College brings back a lot of memories! I played the Quints in our High School band and we won a lot of trophies in several Christmas parades we entered! The sounds of drum cadences never gets old! Nice job Ohio State!
Not to make your head any bigger, but to be a drummer in the Ohio State Marching Band is elite. So many talented high school and adult drummers can only dream of doing this. Congrats on the accomplishment and you rock!
Much appreciated!
9 months and this still hits
And to think soldiers from the 19th century looked like this.
The band’s roots are from the university’s ROTC
@HenryTendyAt the beginning, then it was replaced by Kepis, Picklehaubes, and forage caps which eventually led to the hats we see here.
Just to clarify we all know 19th century is 1800?
@@Spongebob-has-returned yes, they still use drummers in battle
