I rode the Vortex just today and man it was a lil rough but I made it through alive lol

I've never ridden this before but I've heard its a good ride. It sucks that its leaving the park at the end of October.

While it does kind of look like an RCT3 creation (which isn't completely a bad thing as it can be easily recreated then), it was built in the 1980's and they didn't have the advanced programs to design and test rides like they do today, if anyone knows what was available back then, that's what was likely used,
LOL the photo caption looked like RCT 3 to me.
I'm still too scared to go on this, yet I go on The Beast all the time.

Last time I went, I rode it and the coaster itself was fine, but my ears and head hurt so badly from being knocked up so much .
I just rode it in the front it was fun

That ride looked fun, but according to a number of comments here it'll give you a headache, so I suppose I shouldn't risk getting on that if I were to go back to King's Island. (I'm from IL)
Rode it today
Its the track design that makes it rough...CP's Millenium Force and Gatekeeper have specially constructed smooth track to make the ride ultra smooth at high speeds. Also has to do with aging of the track..Its along the lines of Magum XL-200, which was smooth in the beginning of its years, but now is really rough, and that is straight from the horses mouth..the engineers!
never get on the vortex after rain. its really slippery and squeaky and my train was about to go on a loop but its just went backwards into the vortex building, it was really scary.
i passed/blacked out on this ride. it was brief but scary, never went on it again
Its one of the best Arrow Dynamic coasters. Just don't sit in the back as its too jerky. At least for me that is.
2 Loops, and 4 corkscrews I believe.
More I heard that somewhere in Europe someone would be able to stand backwards on a stand up coaster.

A girl I was talking to got kinda beat up on this ride- I've never had a problem though always loved The Vortex- gonna be sad when it goes, as long as I get to ride it one more time to go with the prolly 20 times I've rode it in my life then I'll be happy

WWWWWWHHHHHHAAAAAATTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Magnum XL-200 is smooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with you on the Millennium Force and GateKeeper thing, but Magnum is smooth.

Wishing they would redo the restraints I can't ride it anymore it's too rough maybe different restraints would help?

This is Crazy how time flies and coaster get bigger and better, I remember this being my first loop coaster back in 1988 I believe and it was the scariest coaster ever back then, I still remember seeing people crying after getting off this ride LOL or even by the gate where the last 2 loops are where the coaster stops where people would still be screaming LOL

These last 2 videos from Kings Island were from this season. I think all I have left is WindSeeker to upload from here. Last year it was closed so I filmed it this time. Also the time I went It wasn't crowded at all so again the other side of the race was closed like last year.

The ratcheting sound and the smell of chain grease. Good memories :)

Today I was at Kings Island and one of the workers gave me a little secret and he told me that this is the last year that vortex is at Kings Island that's right VORTEX IS GONE THIS YEAR!!! and their gonna replace it with another coaster that tall or taller than windseeker he didn't really describe his it would go but he said that it will take 2 years to build it so get ready for 2017 cause I know I'm already ready I CAN'T WAIT

Why does this ride get so much crap? I just rode it yesterday in the back seat it was one of the funnest ones there in my opinion. Obviously not funner than Diamnondback but I thought it was really thrilling. When I went down the first hill I was lifted out of my seat so amazing hahaha.

It bangs your head like crazy compared to other steel coasters. Still fun though .

It's just from people expecting an almost 30-year-old coaster to be as smooth as a new one.
Rode Vortex this week. Was still really fun, even if it's a little rough. Didn't bang me up nearly as badly as the Beast did.

not trying to scare you guys or anything, but the vortex sinks into the ground approximately 1 inch every year, it does this because of the heavy steel frame

Has the Vortex gotten very head-bangy over the years? Most of these older Arrow Loopers have not aged well. I don't remember it being awful, but I haven't ridden it for over 20 years!
It's miserable!!! I rode it just a couple of days ago, it hasn't been painted in 15 years, it's faded as all get out. And leaves you with serious head and neck pains... It's not worth it.
Getting different restraints would help so much!

Viper still wins if you ask me, even though vortex has a nice transition from double corkscrew to the batwing, Viper is still way more powerful

Worst roller coaster I've ever ridden. It is a really beautiful coaster. I hope they maybe give it new trains with some better restraints.

It hurts my head so bad hitting it back-and-forth that when I get on it I have to cover my ears because if I don't it hurts my ears that bad:/ I like this one but it really hurts.. people want to complain that the son of beast hurts so bad.. it wasn't no worse than this

No, going up sometimes freaks me out...the drops never bother me. That's what kept me off Top Thrill Dragster for so long. Shooting up spooked me then I just said screw it, I wanna ride. Dragster is not scary at all-can't keep me off it now. Vortex did spook me going up, not sure why but it's an awesome ride and one of the smoother Arrow loopers I've ridden.

The first hill seemed like the scariest part to me, but it was relaxing. The loops and inversions were so fun, it is amazing, you NEED to go on it!
