Dog found in home rubble during live CBS report

- During a live report on CBS Mornings, Morgan Rynor from CBS News Miami and neighbors in Fort Pierce found a dog in the rubble of a home destroyed from Hurricane Milton.
The owners sadly died in the storm but the dog survived and got out of the rubble.

I've picked up so many dogs over my long years and all they want is to be loved. Sad the family lost their lives and sorry for this sweet looking dog, much like my own, another pick-up off the road. Mine is taller but looks just like this one in the face. My family up in Black Mountain, NC have lost their home and two of their dogs were carried away by the flood waters. Sad times in many states due to these two hurricanes.

I would gratefully take in Benji if needed, from Virginia, but I hope Relatives or a Neighbor that have known Benji will step forward. May Benji find a loving, forever home and family. So sad, but a miracle for Benji to have survived and then found.

I had a Brussels Griffon and they are very loyal dogs. I am glad Benji was found and I am sad his owners didn’t make it. This poor little scared and hurt dog is precious. Prayers from Ohio for all impacted by these new storms and those still recovering from precious storms.

I was watching this and my heart is broken!! We lost our pet last year to cancer!!! my wife and I are retired and recently built a smal rancher here in maryland with a very large yard fenced in. It;s a long drive but we would love to adopt Benji!!! He needs special love and attention. Yanni

Keep your eye out for displaced animals from Helene heading to rescues in the north. I saw a report that they evacuated all pets already in the shelter (did not have owners) to make way for pets needing temporary shelter.
so sad about the owners, hopefully family/friend will adopt him and doesn't have to go to the shelter.

The poor always take the biggest hit, can’t afford to evacuate, and the innocent animals suffer the most in natural disasters , so glad Benji will get a great home tho- cause seen on GMA- hopefully everyone will pitch in and adopt ALL the homeless pets and help the poor and vulnerable people
There were shelters available to hold 200k people & only 31k stayed in them. Many take pets & there are dedicated pet shelters in every county. All of them were free & so was the transportation to & from them by shuttle bus or Uber. We take good care of our people. They had places to go but chose not to. ☹️🙏🏼💞

Omg SO sad. We are literally not far from all the devastation in Jax Beach Florida and we are SO lucky here but our fellow Floridians were not and that breaks my heart!!! Been here forty years and many many hurricanes and we NEVER see tornados like this!!! Prayers to ALL of Florida, North Carolina and to this Country!!! We all need to be praying🇺🇲✝️

Thank goodness that Benji survived and was miraculously found alive!! So sorry to hear about the deaths of his Parents and the destructive movement of their home during Hurricane Milton, and also for the others who have been affected. May everyone please come together to help those who have no other means for recovering a roof over their heads and to help clean up and organize this area and all of the areas affected. It will take the Boots of Americans along with their Pickup Trucks and other resources to turn this Ship around in these times. My heart goes out to everyone in these affected areas.
