@@gavinclark3012Awesome, we saw him on opening day as well, we only had a very quick chat and a photo as he was working and looked absolutely knackered poor guy. 😅
No more? This hyper coaster is amazing but way too short imo. If this coaster had an extra 2 to 3 elements with an extra 500 to 1k feet of track, it could be one of the top ten coasters in the world.
No more John 🤣🤣 I agree it is a great coaster but it could be improved if the trim brake in the splash down was removed and it had a few more elements before the brake run.
I'm really not a fan of how they give John all the credit for this ride, as if he fully designed the layout instead of being part of the decision of which of the 9 Mack designed layouts they would use.
I agree, JB is the creative lead for Merlin but it is Mack Rides who are the rollercoaster designers who acted on Merlin’s brief. For the general public it probably made better TV to keep the concept simple and have JB as the overall designer of all elements. I would love to see an in depth documentary of the project with Mack and JB explaining the whole design and implementation process.
I wouldn't do this because of no over head shoulder restraints, i'm also very slim and although your lower body is looked in place, your upper body isn't and I would not feel happy with that at all, shame becuas otherwise I would of ridden it. I have done a small height coaster with this type of seat and I didn't like it at all, felt like my upper body was coming forward. I also remember drayton manor parks stand up coaster and being so slim there was still room between where the restraints stopped and my slim body finished, i kept moving a bit the whole time and becuase of it I ad to hold on so hard, it hurt my hands after really bad, my, muscles pulled for days from holding on.
Maybe give the test seat a try or ride Icon at Blackpool first as it has the same seats. This is made by Mack Rides and the seats are very comfortable and supportive. David is very small and slim being 10 years old and he is very secure in the seat due to the wrap around design. Would be a shame to miss out on it as it is an amazing ride. You can push your upper body back into the seat by when you hold onto the handles on the restraint. Don’t let the stand up coaster at Drayton put you off, that one is very old and had strange restraints.
@@davidsthemeparkadventures obviously didn't read my comment enough I did say i've tried similar seats and small coaster an didn't feel safe, an my upper body was flying aruond all over the place! this is dangerous in my opinion at that height not to have over head restraints! won't do it for that reason alone!
@@TraybuffI did read your comment, i was suggesting maybe trying out the test seat or Icon at Blackpool Pleasurebeach as not all lap bar seats are the same. This is a Mack Rides coaster and the seats are excellent, the bar is very Chucky and holds you in securely. You can brace the top half off your body using the bars on the restraint.
@@davidsthemeparkadventures When TP staff aren't playing at being engineers you mean and following the actual instructions when sending testing trains?
@@Adam-eh1qdI would love to know more about this, as surely a new coaster shouldn’t need to be sent round with water dummies every morning. Not an engineer but, normally the correct combination of wheel compounds is enough to achieve the correct speed.
Hyperia does that very well with the height, lapbars and the fact to spend a fair amount of time out of your seat. The show is definitely designed more for the general public and for entertainment. Good to see it on TV still though.

It is a fantastic coaster to have in the UK. Thorpe have got a really good line up of coasters now.

Hyperia is definitely worth riding if you have not done already 👍

I feel like news companies use new rides as a kind of form of hazing for less experienced reporters but it's fun so i don't mind
I agree, I think that is exactly what they do. Makes for more entertaining TV for the general public.

12 seconds of airtime they say at the park and everywhere else on the loop im talking about yet the designer just said 4 ???
Yeah, having ridden Hyperia it is definitely more than 4 seconds. The Outerbank alone is more than 4 seconds, let alone the stall.
He said 4 seconds of hangtime, airtime is when your out of your seat in general.
Just over 14 seconds of hangtime to be exact 😊and it is fantastic 👌🏿 I'm going again this year 18/10/24

90 minutes I queued and then they closed it 🤣 maybe next time!
Oh no! What a disaster. Hope you get to ride it soon.
Why'd they have to send the biggest melt possible to film this?
Typical TV format, I suppose it wouldn’t be quite as entertaining to the general public if they sent someone who wasn’t scared of it.
Went on satuday if you willing to queue for 2 hrs go for it.
Fantastic, glad you got to ride it. Hopefully the queues will be a bit shorter next year.
