PLEASE DO THIS TO YOUR LG DISHWASHER
Me and a friend of mine have the exact LG dishwasher - about 2 years old as of now. So, I am going to give some advice to (nearly) ALL LG Dishwasher users on how to reduce (or probably even prevent) the build-up of mold in the canister that holds the cup-shaped filter.
After EVERY run is completed (washing and drying), press the POWER button. Then hold the START button down for 3 seconds. This 2-step action will initiate a built-in flushing mechanism that will remove nearly all the water left behind in the filter canister reducing the possibility of build-up of mold in that filter canister. The flushing process will automatically be completed in about 1 minute. This little hack is NOT in the user manual. It was provided by a LG service tech.
BTW, please do follow the great advise provided in this video too. I personally run the dishwasher about 3 times a week. So I follow the instructions in the above video every 6-weeks or so in cleaning the filter and the metal mesh etc.,
FINE PRINT: I have only tested this trick successfully in 3 LG dishwashers - the two 2-yr old dishwashers plus another LG dishwasher which was about 5 or 6 years old. I am not responsible for any kind of damage to anyone or anything by following this hack.
    Good luck!

Thank you for this! I'm going to try it! Quick qestion if you have the time (and if you check your RUclips comment notifications, which I know not everyone does) -- did your LG technician say anything about how to remove the lower spray arm? I have this exact dishwasher too (the Smart ThinQ, couldn't find another model number on it but it looks exactly the same, and the "hold the button for 3 seconds" tip tracks for how mine works), and the bottom spray arm has developed a bit of a stick. When I spin it, it might spin for a few rotations but then it sticks, like something's either stuck in the gears, or not aligned quite right. It's easy to nudge it past and get it going again, but it always sticks again, and some of my dishes aren't getting clean while others are spotless, so I know that stopping the rotation when the washer is running. There's nothing in the floor of the washer under the arms, and I've tried using a bottle brush on the underneath around the gear area, but no luck, and I can't figure out how to get the arm off. Older models you could apparently just pull up, but this one...I tried, and like, I'm not Hercules but I couldn't move it, and it didn't feel like something that just pulls off. I'm hoping your tech maybe advised you on this too - if so, could you share? Looks like others here also need to remove that arm and are having trouble, so you'd be helping more than just me! 💙

Thanks. I have the same dishwasher and one of the orange trimmed covers on the spinner arm keeps falling off. Any ideas? I re-attach it every wash, but it's fallen off again every time. Thanks for any ideas

I had to take the top off of that filter and it was not easy. I can't get it back on now. I'm looking for some kind of trick to get it back on. That is the handle that you turn 90° to take the whole filter out I took that handle off to clean the inside of the filter

I know this video is a bit old but maybe you can help me. I have a few month old dishwasher and I could call someone but it's a simple thing or one would think. The bottom spray arm is loose and hits a little at the back of the machine where the gray plastic piece sticks up a bit more than the metal bottom. Can I tighten it? or is that normal because when in use, it hits that a little and makes a little bump noise. Thank you!

Great. But how do you clean the holes in the bottom one! I've used tweezers and steak knives! Nothing will grab before it goes back down in the hole! Why isn't the bottom one removable?

Hi there! Did you ever find a way to remove the bottom one? I need to, to find out why it'd developed a sticking point, and haven't found a way yet.

The instructions say to use vinegar.

@@jarcher3033 I was watching another video on this and LG service doesn’t recommend using vinegar because it will break down gaskets and rubber hoses over time. Contradictory to their instructions
