  • LG LDT7797BM dishwasher issues. One possible reason you’re receiving an AE and or an OE error code. You can find tons of possible causes and fixes researching the model online but I never saw this cause or fix.
Hope it helps someone out there.

You Sir made me look good in front of my wife and kids. Due to not having to spend money on a professional to fix our dishwasher, my family now will put those funds towards a statue of me. It will be placed in our house to honor my ability to fix things we never thought I’d fix. As a member of the man council of Arkansas, I hereby make a motion to give you your own holiday. You rock. Thanks for posting such a great and helpful video.

Even a year later and a different model, this video points out the grease buildup, which is what got me. After looking and finding no leaks (except the little bit in the tray). I did notice the scum in the air lock and rather than wait for service (after 4 sinks full of hand dishes TODAY), I gave the clean out a shot. I alternated dish soap and white vinegar and about 30 minutes later, we are back in business. Thank you!!!

Clear and concise instruction. This helped me out even though my LG Dishwasher is a different model. The seal around the round air vent that is inside the tub on the left side, was leaking water back into the tub, which in turn kept activating the drain pump. I imagine after the pump gets activated after a wash cycle enough times, the AE code gets triggered. All I had to do was remove the seal, clean it and reinstall it. Problem solved.

Another success story! My sink backed up so I plunged it. My LG dishwasher immediately went into AE error mode and could not be reset. I hired a repairman for $139 and he concluded that need a new drain pump at a cost of $450 installed. I considered what led to the AE error and said “no thanks”. Stumbled across this video and problem solved. Thanks OP!

MY HERO!!!!! Dishwasher was leaving food particles on glasses and top rack didn't ever seem to come out clean. Replaced mesh filter and still dirty dishes. Turns out the float was clogged and wasn't allowing enough water into dishwasher causing it to drain early. My husband was CONVINCED the problem was due to me not replacing the filter correctly and I was very pleased to prove to him that that wasn't the case!!!! Thank you so much!!

You, sir, are a saint. Had AE come up the day after my son was born. Came home from the hospital to suds all over the kitchen floor. After LG's useless troubleshooting (recommended to call a tech) I found your video and this was exactly the problem: grease gummed up in the channels. Your level of detail was perfect and instructions were clear and simple. 2 hrs from water on the floor to a fully operational dishwasher.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I got the same code 2 weeks after my first child (son) was born. I went through the usual Office Space argument with the machine "why do you say there's a leak when there IS NO LEAK??" This is probably the issue with my dishwasher and I'll know after his second pediatric appointment in the morning, after my nightshift making sure he's still breathing between hangry cries throughout the night! Thank you for this upload, sir!

Excellent video that solved my problem perfectly. My drain had backed up with a sewer blockage on the sink line. I am very handy also, but it is from people like you who take time to share that this community help each other out! To add to this post, I first used hot water to loosen the debris. Then poured a mixture of vinegar/water and baking soda inside. It really helped to break up the buildup. Finally as you said, shake it like crazy to agitate the buildup.

Brilliant video! Thank you! Thank you! For our LG LDT6809SS/00, we originally had an nE error code (leak) and, after removing the toe plate and sound proof padding, we discovered that water was leaking from the nut of the braided metal water inlet line at the bottom left corner of the front. of the machine so we unscrewed the line to remove it, applied a couple rounds of new teflon tape to the threads fo the brass receiver on the machine and screwed the water line back on snuggly, and that solved that one.
Then, another nE code. After emptying the dishwasher of its shelves, cutting the power at the fuse box and outlet plug under the sink, shutting off the water valve under the sink, taking off the water line the waste tube from the disposal under the sink, with bowls/towels to catch any water/gross stuff, I pulled the machine out into the kitchen along with its 3 loosened lines. This time I lay down on the floor on the left side of the machine and watched the underneath for a couple mins of the clean cycle (2 mins/1 : 22 mins) and discovered a leak around the vario motor. So we soaked up the little bit of water from the black tray/bottom cover, let the machine dry for a bit, and turned the machine upside down (you may be able to just lie it on its side, but we found it easier to work with the machine upside down. Since you can't easily take off the black plastic bottom cover of this model (uggh), I wormed my hands into the various openings to take off the wire harnesses to the vario motor and relay switch, unscrewed the vario motor to bring it out and tested its ohms and the switch's ohms with a multimeter. We got proper readings from the relay switch, but got an infinite reading on the vario motor as opposed to a @4K ohms reading, so we ordered a new vario motor (Dishwasher Diverter Motor 4681ED3001D) for $20 from Sears Parts that got the proper ohms reading. Once installed and machine turned right side up, with lines reattached and power on, we ran the cleaning cycle again.
Another nE code within 2 mins. After seeing a second leak from the newly installed vario motor, we ordered a new grommet with washer (AHR73669802 Shaft Assembly) for the vario motor from Sears Parts for $9 and installed it on the new vario motor. Done. No more leaking! Do yourselves a favor and just order the grommet and washer to place on your new vario motor before running the machine.
Then another (!!!) nE code after the first hour of the cleaning cycle (60 mins out of 88 mins). So lying on the floor and looking underneath again, I noticed some water with a tiny bit of residue particles in the bottom cover tray compartment underneath the second drain tube/water compartment of the fill funnel assembly (Dishwasher Fill Funnel Assembly AEC74337401) and then came to your video for the fix! I know your video covered codes aE and oE, but it really helped our issue, too. Thank you so much! I think we may have a functioning dishwasher again! And we have saved sooooo much money!!! YOU ROCK!!!

Same as me, almost 3 year old LG, seems like that is the lifespan of the part without service.

    • @ryanshannon6963
      @ryanshannon6963 Год назад +2

Clearly not the lifespan of the part since it works after cleaning. It's basically poor engineering with waste water disposal, but if the part still works after cleaning then it's not lifespan. It's like saying the filter in my shop vac has a one bedroom of drywall installation lifespan because it clogs and needs cleaning, which it is designed to do.
This is my first LG dishwasher and it's purchased 2 years ago, but unsure of manufacture date. I have LG fridge and washer dryer combo that are on their 6th year running great, but was curious how the dishwashers would blunder like this.

We recently moved and the prior owner never cleaned the drain and we were felt the pain of the overflow situation. Also, TIP - I found some boiling water with some dish soap allowed me to clear the fat in the air gap.

Just a word of warning. My valve was clogged far more than the video. I had purchased a new part and installed that, but then I figured what the heck and tried to clean the old part. Dawn had minimal impact. Hot water, as in from the coffee maker did help, and I was agitating the part in all cleaning methods. Finally I tried brake cleaner. It distorted the black plastic part of the valve .. so don't do that. The exposure to the brake cleaner was less than 1 to 2 minutes as I followed up with a hot water flush ASAP.
I've had mine for 5 years so really, what's a new $80 part every five years? I have decided that if I am going thru the efforts of replacing this I will always use a new part. I don't want to make this into a yearly project 😆
Best of luck with yours, everyone and a BIG thank you to JP. This is truly the fix for the dreaded AE error code on any of these LG units!

This was Very informative. I am sure that it saved us the cost of a repair visit or a new dishwasher. I can't say for sure but the little valve in the side tank may have been the problem, or a small high-pressure leak (that was tightened), at the water connection from the house to the dishwasher. One fix that you may want to comment on before doing...it is to clean the inside of this valve using vinegar and baking soda. It fizzes and creates a little pressure that cleans most anything it comes in contact with. I did do this, also because the water was off while cleaning the washer. Anyway... no AE code and we have clean dishes. Thanks for the insight! I wish more people would have the same caring nature for others as you have expressed in your you-tube post.

Had the AE error on my LG dishwasher. Found this video to be very helpful diagnosing the problem. Took my time and used CLR to clean out the float chamber and very hot water. After reinstalling and pouring in hot water into the basin of the dishwasher I turned the power back on, and watched the water moving through the plastic valves. I then sponged out all the water in the basin and noticed the internal purge pump stopped cycling on and off, however the AE code was still present. Powered off the machine holding the power button and powered it back on, and the error was finally clear.

wonderful fix. About 8 months ago I actually had no functioning buttons. I had to tear the dishwasher apart and found at some point there was a small leak that got on the end of one of the electrical plugs and it took out a connector and my main board. I replaced them both and unit has been working great since. Now tonight I'm getting random OE codes and the unit does not seem to want to drain as good as it should. Thought maybe pump was going on but its clear the pump is still making noise at the beginning of the cycle. I will be checking this out next

Very helpful video . I had a suspicious hint but I didn’t want to take out the dishwasher. Now it makes more sense and I know what to do . Just going to have wife worry about it first .

Thank you for posting this video. I don't have that exact model but the inside is the same so I followed your instructions and mine was full of guess what......collard greens from Thanksgiving dishes. I have told my wife and daughters to rinse dishes off before loading the dishwasher time and time again and they don't believe me but this is my proof!!!! Guess who doesn't have to do dishes for a while? This guy!!! Thanks Bud

Thank you so much! You saved me so much money! We couldn’t run it for a week because of the AE code🤦‍♂️. Thank you for taking the time and making a great video! I got it working because of you!

You are awesome. I found water in mine after giving up on LG on a 15 month old dishwasher. No warranty to cover this nor good support.

I needed to replace the drain hose your video helped me take apart the assembly then replace the hose and the dishwasher still works! Thank you very much!
Aggravating but I saved a service call $100 estimate
    Part was $24.99

How did you determine that? The area that he showed was clogged on mine. I cleaned it and witnessed it operating correctly when rinsing but I'm still throwing the AE code.

I have to do this as well. I guess I cracked the drain hose because the larger hose was filled with water and leaking under my sick. Does the drain hose going to sick drain pop right off? Looks like there’s a little black o-ring

The hose was kinked when I removed the dishwasher from under the counter, I had no grease in the trap, replaced the hose reinstalled and it cleans better than it ever has!

    • @mphrab
      @mphrab 2 года назад

The hose has a ridge in it plus the o ring, once it’s in the ridge the o ring is installed but the assembly on the side has to be removed so you can see and access the removal of hoses and connections, hope this helps everyone

Although it didn't clear my AE code, it was kind of fun cleaning this thing out. I was like the Neti Pot of appliances. So much grossness in there. Thanks for your clear instructions!
ETA: it did work! However, I had to get the water out of the pan underneath to make the code clear. I accomplished this by tipping the machine forward and mopping up the spilled water with towels. Thanks again!
