Using the knife as rear view mirror was brilliant
Blessing in disguise, I guess 🤣
🤣🤣
it was just an excuse to show hk can do adobe affects to, nothing special
@@GawrGurasBathTubPizza so, what the point with your comment?
@@GawrGurasBathTubPizza context?
It’s rare that a movie can juggle comedy and action. Kung Fu Hustle nailed it
Says every Jackie Chan movie😐
@@NygmaNL what are you talking about?
Kung Fu Hustle is a rare type of movie. It takes advantage of all the cheesy kung fu stuff in movies but does it in a way that never really takes itself seriously. It's hard to criticize the movie when its intentionally silly and stylized to be that way. In some ways it's like a live action anime that's actually good which itself isn't common.
And romance
Thor Love And Thunder has left the chat
Stephen Chow is a unique form of comedic genius.
Bruh, he's a legend
There’s a movie where he falls in love with a wealthy girl and doesn’t know she has a retarded twin. That’s one of my favorite movies but I have no idea the name of it.
@@jackivury6662 yes he is a legend in my heart
the cobra bit him in his mouth..im surprised he didn't die.
@@ashura516 *our*
The writing for this film is amazing. You don't expect her to be a highly skilled martial artists. But she is. When you hear her shout here, you'll think she's just loud. But no. She's actually one and her loud voice is one of her martial arts.
Also the "road runner" chase. It actually show their hidden kungfu skill, not just comical scene out of nowhere
Some kind of Chekov gun or the clue
Lion roar
The lion's roar
She actually learnt martial art with Jackie Chan under the same master. Her husband in the movie also.
I remember watching the first time and just DIED laughing at the knife throwing part.
Hell I crack up every time I see this. The movie is just twisted genius funny with some pretty good martial arts too.
It's just like my life.
@@shiba9592 Me too, I’m battling “The Beast” right now LOL and I doubt I will emerge a Kung Fu master.
Same here

Pulls the 3rd knife out in disbelief that it'd the same one lost, then just puts it back in his arm 😂🤣
Kills me every time. 😭😭😭
well, he said “no”
And say Sorry before doing that...
Also, the snake whistling part was hilarious I keep laughing everytime I see that, HAHAHA
不是的,是胖子拔出来看看是不是丢失刀把的那把刀,周星驰马上喊了一句“不要啊”,胖子听到他的喊话,就顺手插回去了
0:39 omg this whole knife sequence keeps me in tears every rewatch 😭😭. And the almost authentic pain Chow displays when he whimpers "don't" 😂😂. So many classic scenes in this classic film.
The way his eyes just widen, and he calmly walks back after the knife goes into his shoulder is hilarious. I think it seems a little authentic because people do act strange after going into shock and a knife to the shoulder can do just that.
I'm rolling on the floor 😭 🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Sorry!” *sticks knife back in his arm!
🤣🤣🤣
I remember when this movie premiered in mainland China in 2004, it was winter. My girlfriend (now wife) and I were in university, we wanted to find a place to make out, so we randomly bought 2 tickets, didn't noticed it's a new movie called Kung Fu Hustle from Stephen Chow. Since it was daytime, the entire auditorium which could accommodate several hundred people, had only a few viewers besides the two of us, it should be a great place for young couple to make out and kill some time. Guess what, in the end, we didn't make out at all, instead we watched the entire movie without a blink, and laughed and cried from beginning to end. What a memory!
That is an amazing story man. Made me happy just by reading it, thanks for sharing!
thats freaking wonderful
absolutely amazing memory
still hands down one of the funniest scenes in cinematic history.
Keep exaggerating
@@RIFLQ I'm genuinely interested in funnier scenes in films if you can list them. =)

only stephen chow can make a ridiculous jokes and still ace the movie. legend
1:30 The pain in his voice when he says "God knows where it went" its just amazingly hilarious.
Then "could it be the same one" 💀💀
😂😂😂
It is rare for me to actually laugh at the cinema, so often it just falls flat but Chow's work in Kung Fu Hustle genuinely cracks me up every time. I can't really say that for any other film.
The scene when the mobs boss got burned inside the car made me lose my side for the first time
Try "shaolin soccer" then. 😉
@@user-wp2fj7pc6p I love everything he has done. Hustle is my fav though
His expressions over the knife affair and his fat friend's silliness is just pure gold. I couldn't breathe the first time I watched XD
3:31 this scene still cracks me up 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can someone explain the billboard please?
@@mikeinjapan2004 It is advertising a traditional Chinese medicine that cures “muscle soreness” lol
@@mikeinjapan2004 And also the scene where there’s a tank full of snakes, the words indicate that the place is a medicine shop that uses snake gallbladder as medicine. Just justifying why there’s snake in that scene
I see thanks!
@@victorhsu6710 thanks for the info! 👍🏽
i like how the guy was so calm about everything, it really made it 100 times funnier
The rear-view mirror knife is one of my favourite visual gags of all time. Absolutely brilliant.
The look on his face when the snakes fall is priceless gets me every time 😂
He was like "bro, really?" 😂😂
he looked like a disappointed father 😂
I saw this in theaters. Completely lost it on that third knife! 😂😆😂
Please tell theater reaction 😅
“Sorry!” *sticks knife back in his arm!
🤣🤣🤣
I laugh in tears the first time I saw this movie during this scene! 🤣
The genius of the comedy cannot be undercut because it all starts off from throwing knives. You get blindsided by a lot of the jokes, but then it jumps immediately to the chase scene where the knives STILL play a part.
The "Looney Tunes" style chase scene was what did me in.
IKR? That was decadent silliness! When was the last time an action movie decided to literally parody Looney Tunes? OMG when she hit the sign and slid down….it finished me.
Looney Tunes is exactly what I was thinking.
Movie critics says that this movie is like looney tunes and kill bill mixed together.
The way he just stabs the knife back lol.😂😂😂
The fact that he didn't die after bitten by 2 cobras at his lips kinda foreshadows that he has super strength.
Same with landlady jumped over the truck effortlessly.
Hell, he being able to compete with landlady speed was also a foreshadowing. People think that this whole chasing sequences was just for comedic effect but turns out they really do run very fast. There's also one with the beast where he got punched right on his face, yet he was still alive enough to "tap" him one more time, got punched even more until the ground caved in and yet still alive, where in next scene it was shown just one slap from the beast can easily kill ordinary man.
Those foreshadowings are really great.
It's the knife stabs & cobra bites that awakened his hidden strength, that came from a mysterious book in the earlier scene.
@@radixwp6789 The more abuse he takes the stronger he gets, he's kinda like Goku.
1:32 made me laugh so hard 😂
I couldn't stop laughing for an hour
The only movie where the director knew how to adapt anime in live action
i remember read this comics book, its called budish palm hero or something,
Fun fact: Stephen Chow is a big fan of Dragon Ball, all of the fighting scenes in this movie inspired by that anime...
@@charlesltk2099 source ?
@@Emiichoco some interviews he got mention... Also I remembered in one of his movies, "Flirting Scholar" (if I'm not mistaken), he uses 'Kamehameha' wave... Lol
@@Emiichoco
He actually big fan of Dr Slump, watch the scene from All's Well End Well where he hanged up by his girlfriend and his brother's mistress asked him to sing Dr Slump intro, of course in Mandarin version.
Good old times, even now king fu hustle still test the limits of viewers life by suffocating us with laughter.
Stephen Chow A brilliant Director and Actor. One of a Gem.
I always keep dying at the part when the fat one was confused about the handle of the knife, took the knife out of his arm and put it back in after he felt sorry. 😂🤣😭😭💀💀 Makes me laugh regardless of how many times I’ve watched this movie. 💀💀
I like how this scene actually forshadows him being really powerful, with him taking severe injuries and just be annoyed by it, and being able to outrun the Landlady.
I remember my mother calling me in to watch this scene before she had even finished watching it. Traditionally, she has VERY little patience for movies and will fastfoward just to watch the end. We must have replayed this scene alone dozens of times, and she laughed harder and harder each time.
I laughed untill the last breath out of my lungs that day when I first watched this scene😂😂😂
one of the best comedic scenes ever. chow nailed it.
this clip is missing the music during the running scene...
In my 37 years of watching funny movies this movie by far the serve the Oscar Award. I was in a hospital while watching this movie and man this movie heal me ❤
The *pop* after she slides off the billboard is hilarious!
If anime was film in real-life, this would be it. Any westerners who want to make a movie based on anime, seek advice from Stephen Chow. Dude is a hardcore fans of Dragon Ball Z.
Are you serious? Stephen Chow is the producer of Dragonball Evolution……….
@@evenhsufly 🤣
@@evenhsufly yeah he is the producer, he didn't direct or write the script. Also according to him in an interview, most (if not all) of his feedbacks were rejected, even Chi Chi role, Chow has a different actress in mind. Make of that what you will.

This movie in Italian is THE BEST almost all dialect from Italy 😂😂😂😂😂❤
I laughed so hard when first time I saw it.
The dialogues the acting and on top of that the music. Stephen chow is no.1 in unique comedy.
I've watched this movie ever since it came out, and it's still hilarious.
There's so much comedic stuff to unpack, this movie really knew how to apply cartoon comedy into it.
The sad music playing the moment he hit himself with the knife like he's dying, masterpiece.
this movie is truly a masterpiece
This movie is something interesting. I watched it dubbed to my language, and the dub actors took a twist with the dubbing, giving the characters different regional accents from my country, as well as different puns, which made the movie funny as hell.
Its hindi dub is😁😘😘
The Movie is sooooo funny !
I love it ! Kung Fu and a lot of jokes for young and old
Simply fantastic 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
1:00 part, hes actually asking him how do you feel, instead of asking you okay? Stephen Chow proceed to reply him saying that i feels that you should get closer and take better aim. The whole conversation is trying to show that Sing is very mad at his dumbness but controlling his anger and continue telling him to throw the knife again........(you can see from Sing eyes that saying WTF when looking at the fat guy then proceed to tell him to aim better 🤣🤣)
🎉

2:35 that what happened if you don’t pay the rent
1:38: " Are you trying to say something?"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
1:33 the most helerious moment
When I first watched it, I thought this scene was just pure comedy (copy from Looney Tunes), but now I think it actually foretold the latent capability of the main character. The nice touch up things is actually it left a few clues here and there about real capabilities of the characters (whether, at that point, they realized it or not)
I remember laughing with tears when i was a kid at this part 😂😂😂
I thought my friend was actually going to pass out in the theater when this scene came on. He laughed so hard and long that I honestly got worried. Just great comedy!
You made me remember the first time I laughed at this scene. Thank you.
This might be the funniest scene in cinema history. I can still hear my brother gasping for air laughing to this. Good memories. 🤣💯
This movie has got to be in the top 5 funniest movies ever. Even top 3! It should be recongized more.
The cartoony part is funy in itself, but that knife throwing scene had me laughing out of my seat...
No matter how many times I have watched this scene, this will always be funny 😂
"Please, no more bright ideas."
I watch this scene at least once every year! One of my favourites.
That subtle soundtrack when the knives hit him.. 🤣👌
Still laughing hard after about 20th watching it
One of the funniest moments in any movie I've watched. I laughed so hard it hurt 😂
I lose my shit when i watch it for the first time. This movie is hella funny, got me giggling through the night 👌🏼💯
That chase scene had me rolling!! 😂😂
1:50 🤣🤣
I remember the time when me and my family watched this movie. Me and my siblings often complain to change the channel since so many weird stuff happen in movies, once the channel couldn't be able to change and we watched the movie thinking it would be trash, but little did we know, we had a great time watching this movie from the start to the finish, at this point I cherished the memory where me, my parents and my siblings laughed until our stomach started hurting and honestly, this movie was underrated at the time and deserved every recognition it gets now.
This movie is so under rated... It is gold, pure gold❤❤
its a testament to the brilliance of this scene that its still as funny after all these years.. i can only imagine hwat happened to the crowds in the theatesr watching this the first time.. they were probably begging for mercy by the end of this scene... if someone who saw thi sin theater could let us know..
I love how this movie seems goofy, but it is GENIUS level of writing/directing.
Extremely overlooked film. Probably one of my favorite movie characters and endings as well.
The fat lady can really sing😂😂 the pun😂
One of the greatest comedies ever. And the “I’ll teach you.” Is perfection. Live in love.
Wait...
Years after watching this film repeatedly, I just realized he actually has a good aim lol
Look at that handle went straight to her face!
I am sure that I saw a version with classical music on the background during the chase. But this is still amazing.
To this day, one of the funniest movies I've ever seen
We bought this movie on dvd and I watched it over and over. Shit was funny as hell. Lol
i've seen this scene probably 50 times, and it _still_ makes me laugh so damn hard!...stephen chow is a genius.
I love this movie so much, it was hilarious that he even wanted to throw a cage full of snakes at her.
I remember watching this as a child and I almost died laughing. Seriously, I was laughing so hard I couldnt breathe.
I miss new Stephen Chow kung fu movies, this one is epic 👌
this is the best impersonation of a cartoon if I ever saw one :)) ... Pure gold!
