Although he joined the gang at the beginning, his true heart of fighting the devil has never changed. Even on his last breathe, he still never give in. This scene is gold.

We’re about to see it again, this time its One piece
Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer were two of my favorite films around this time. Western films have never really been able to fully capture that perfect mixture of action and slapstick comedy that makes those films so hilarious and entertaining. By the time this scene takes place, I was fully invested in the Lovers as characters, so when they do battle I felt the stakes. More importantly, I cared.
Both of those films are classics
Always loved the bit where the Beast twists the husbands arm and messes him up and when he sees the same about to happen to his love he counteracts the twist to stop the same happening to her. Just great choreography.
Went into this film by myself with no expectations what so ever.
I’ve never been more blown away by a movie in a theatre.
It is a true masterpiece. It has everything you could wish from an entertaining movie.

Even after watching this movie a BAGILLION times I can't resist looking as it comes up on my suggestions list. It's that good!
One of my sadnesses is that Stephen Chow has not made more movies like this. This is entertainment cinema of the highest order.

Well, the fighters in these are meant to be the modern adaptation of Wu Xia, which is old Chinese story about warriors of old time with unique fighting skills. Inna sense it is like book/manga/manhwa adaptation.

Every time I revisit scenes from this movie, the action makes my hair stand up. Effects are a little dated sure, but this movie is just.. The strangest masterpiece.

Just realized after all these years, that the landlords has similar name with protagonist and his heroine from the story of the legend of the condor heroes. Interesting eastern egg.
This movie was so much more than just a comedy-action chinese movie. It had heart and soul, it had that sense of wonder that is so hard to achieve in storytelling, yet this movie did it effortlessly.

Also the way the couple almost had The Beast beat if it weren’t for his unfairness and their fairness.

It's too hard for me to watch this movie. I always laugh so hard, it hurts. Interestingly, though it's supposed to be a Stephen Chow movie, my 3 favorite characters are The Beast, The Landlady, and The Landlord. This movie is hilarious. The Landlady said after she turned of the water, "Water doesn't just fall from the clouds."

I'd bet that The Beast totally did not respect the Lion's Roar as a combat move bc of how cheap it is, big AoE, big damage.

Padahal kedengeran jelas Siauw Long Nu dan Yang Guo ( Bibi Lung dan Yoko) 😂
Kalau orang Asia (termasuk Indonesia) banyak yang paham siapa Yoko dan Bibi Lung itu, tapi kalau orang barat (yang butuh subtitle bahasa Inggris) jarang yang kenal. Jadi yang dipakai di subtitle bahasa Inggris ya karakter dari budaya barat, yaitu Paris dan Helen dari legenda Troya, supaya lebih nyambung 🙏

The look on Beast’s face when they lift the bell to use as a loudspeaker was what my face looked like the entire time I watched the film.
