I've driven a couple different Model 3s - an early RWD model and a Dual Motor model. The Dual Motor also had the white interior like this Model Y, and it does have a wow-factor. They were a lot of fun but definitely would take some getting used to. The power in the Dual Motor is so instantaneous. You've gotta warn the passengers before stepping on it!

  • @williamlong2682

Not the EV for me personally (interior, setup and features just aren’t to my taste, and the build quality issues would be deal breakers for me), but I do admire Tesla’s creativity and originality and just how much they’ve set themselves apart from the rest of the industry. Their cars don’t exactly stand out in ways that I value, but I gotta give them credit where it’s due. Wish other automakers would approach their cars with the same sense of creativity and originality that Tesla does.

I was weary of the Model 3 interior at first but I have to say... after living with it for about a month now (my 2021 Model 3 SR+ with the standard black interior) it’s hard for me to imagine going back to a cluttered / chaotic traditional interior layout. Most things that I thought would bother me about the Model 3 surprisingly haven’t at all. Also the build quality on mine is top notch... in some cars there are definitely panel gap issues but my car is built quite well. Frankly my only problem is that I compulsively check my Tesla app when it’s charging in the garage. 😂 You should drive one for a bit, might sway your opinion!

    • @kens97sto171
      @kens97sto171 3 года назад +7

I agree, it's the one thing I really don't like about the newer tesla's. Everything is on the touch screen and there are just some things that shouldn't be. Windshield wiper delay option. Climate control etc those should be easy to reach easy to operate with gloves on. Now they say voice control has gotten better so that may help with that. But how long would it take you to say okay Tesla increase wiper setting to two. Versus simply hitting a button. Same thing with the door lock and unlock is on the screen, and to me the door handle exit option and entry for that matter are also not great. When you have people grabbing the emergency release open the door because that's the obvious thing to grab you made a poor design choice. The door handles on the outside are also not exactly intuitive. Those are the things I dislike but man the power train and battery technology they absolutely have that nailed. So like a lot of things in life you have to pick do the things that you like counter the things that you dislike. Could you live with it?

I'm 9 days in on my M3 Long Range and find the sense of freedom it gives me is very enticing. I got lucky and scored one that seems just about perfect. Big surprise!
I'm curious how major manufactures are going to implement maintenance scheduling. That's a major cash cow for ICE vehicles and absolutely not needed in an EV.

Well its been a tick over a month and I'm truly impressed. Serenity is the word that best describes my driving experience.
Don't know how to manipulate the lights yet cause I just leave it on AUTO along with the air and wipers. Works just the way I want so nothing to adjust. Useful information is readily displayed, mapping is superior and charging is effortless. I'm driving a superior vehicle, no doubt about it!
I can understand why they don't advertise because they sell all they make and getting more people to try this car would just create a PR nightmare.
If you try it, you'll buy it, an absolute no brainier.
The S was first introduced in June 2012 and to think what Tesla has done since then just boggles my mind. I'll probably end up one of those Teslanaires recently mentioned even if it's on a moderate level.

Would like to hear his response to this as well! Just from computer audio, it sounds probably about on par with the more low-end, but premium audio systems. I'd say it definitely doesn't compare to the Bowers & Wilkens/Burmester/Bang & Olufsen high end systems... It's hard to say without being in the car though, or at least with high end headphones, that's for sure!

Thanks for the great video of your model Y from 2 years ago. It is now Sept 2023 and I just got my 2023 model Y LR in Aug 2023 and really enjoy the vehicle.
Mine is identical to what is explained in this video but I now have HW4 and the newer quality cameras. I do have the 19 inch wheels which is standard and have black interior.
It has no bumper sensors so we now rely on Tesla Vision - just cameras. It is not perfect but Parking Assist is adequate for me.
Last, I only have Basic Auto Pilot which is at no added cost. I feel EAP and FSD driving assists are too costly as addons and there are things that still need to be worked on to make them better.
    Thanks again and take care.

I’m not an engineer, but you probably would be, yes. Although, the way Tesla’s work is that they are a single transmission. So there is only one gear. On the new Porsche Taycan, is does have two gears. So I don’t see why not...
