I'm in tears... I feel so good and so much better physically and emotionally after doing this everyday for a week. I can't believe I waited until the age of 48 to start Yoga
Shoot, I am trying this today for the first time and I'm almost 57. I can thank or blame my Apple watch for giving me a 20 minute yoga challenge. Apparently, today is International Yoga Day.
I've followed this video 33 mornings in a row, and it still cracks me up at the end when Adriene says, "That was just a simple sequence to get us started." I'm 52. It has definitely not gotten "simple" for me yet, but it's so gratifying to witness myself becoming stronger, slimmer, and more flexible each day. I'm so grateful for this video. Thank you, Adriene!
I totally get you! At 53, those simple sequences are a bit challenging. Been looking to regain flexibility and her flows seems to be the most relaxed and patient for inflexible me lol.
I am a 73 year old survivor of one week of this video! I was ridiculous in the beginning but day by day it is getting “easier” and I am feeling so very much better and proud of myself. Thank you for your lovely and understanding video. Namaste!
Hello there.. congrats on making it to a week. Today is my day 1. Just getting over a few surgeries and wanted to be in better shape. Let me know how your journey is going. ❤
@@thenanouzz This is magic! I added Adriene’s other beginner video, too, one in morning and the other in the evening. It was pretty tough in the beginning, but today the twenty minutes was over in no time. And some of my poses are actually looking slightly yoga-esque! Good luck to you and I promise, it will get easier and funner and you will feel so much better. Namaste.
@@thenanouzz I do Adriene’s Yoga for Beginners and Yoga for Complete Beginners. Both are about 20 minutes long. And easy to follow and just wonderful! For when you need a yoga break!
I am 34 diagnosed with bad prognosis AML Leukemia. Six rounds of chemotherapy and this was the best 20 minutes of exercise I have had in nine months. Thank you.
I am 72 and this seems to be one of the best beginner yoga videos that I have seen. Your comments about not worrying about what my pose looks gives me the confidence that as I do this I will eventually get comfortable and begin to do these poses easily.
I started this with Adriene, a brand new beginner, one year ago this month. Its a life changer, you guys...I now practice daily and have completed yoga teacher training. When I started, this video felt so hard..yet I knew I felt different after. If you are new, keep at it. Its SO worth it.
I'm in the same boat as you... fell in love with yoga 10 yrs ago...and 4 months later, I was in Baja Calif. doing a teacher training - at the age of 50! And I've been teaching every since!! SO love this practice for the mental health benefits FIRST ... helps my yogis (and I!) with anxiety, depression, all the daily stresses. THEN its great for strength, balance, stability, etc... total mind body spirit benefits... Keep up the good work. Best of luck with sharing your yoga. xo Namaste
@@millylou21 Keep it up... its a practice... one we come back to over and over again. We're never quite "there". We all keep learning every single day, and every time we teach. Namaste, be well xo
@@yogawithdorit3441 Ohh thank you so much for your support ! I practice almost everyday now, just 10 or 20 minutes but it's more than nothing :) Namaste !
Male, 52, 5'10" 200lbs, recovering from bypass surgery - this was my first Yoga lesson ever yesterday! This was wonderful, looking forward to the journey!!!
The world is in lock-down - Pandemic 2020....all gyms closed...this was my first work out in front of a computer - Thank you Adrienne - just what I needed. I will be back...stay safe everyone. (Toronto, Canada)
Yoga also helps so much with calming your thoughts and I've found it helps with easing you into meditation too, if you find it hard meditating at anytime 😊. I don't want people to forget that yoga isn't just some workout that you do in a gym, there also a spiritual side to its practice as well. The title of her video is a bit misleading to be honest. As much as I'm sure she's lovely teacher 😊
I've been doing this session every morning for 5 weeks and I feel amazing. It was really hard at first, I almost passed out trying to do my first downward dog! Now it's my favorite pose. I've lost 10 lbs and my arthritis is improved. I am so much stronger and have flexibility back - I can not only touch my toes (something I hadn't been able to do for 10 years) but get my hands flat now! Thank you so much Adriene - I think you have saved my life. Kate, Brighton, UK.
@@hollyspengler5159 Hi, don't give up! Keep at it, take your time, if it hurts, stop and rest. I thought I'd never be able to do a downward dog that didn't look like a tortoise... I'm finally getting there 3 months later, it's so worth it though. good luck! x
This post among many on here has helped me to decide I'm going to do this. I was scared at first but if so many are doing it and achieving their goals so can I😊thank you for sharing.
Morbidly obese woman here trying to better herself. Really loved this, being so big I struggle with some of the positions but just pushing myself a little it was so worth it. I can't wait to get better at Yoga alongside other exercises and diet, most of all I can't wait to get better physically. Thank you so much for sharing this, it gives me determination and confidence
Same here!! I don't need someone at the gym screaming at me to push it to the point of injuring myself, and never wanting to come back. This makes me want to come back every day ❤️
completely let myself go after years of depression and just basically losing myself, so i decided to try out something positive. Day 1- complete 🥳💗 Edit: thank you so much for the love guys🥺 I truly didn’t expect so much encouragement from you all! I gave up a few times, but I’m still going at it!💪🏾
Thank you so much! I am new to the truck driving world. I cannot explain what my body has gone through driving 18 wheelers in just a month and a 1/2. The vibrations alone in the truck are intense. The position I sit in for hours and hours, and not to mention the food that is available. You helped me make the first step into fighting the evolution of a trucker. I am inspiring to be that yogi trucker. The one who gets out at truck stops and does yoga or performs it in an empty trailer when I have one, instead of sitting longer, watching TV or cramming heart attack burgers down my throat. The career I chose is an easy way to fall away from what I am which is one with earth. I live in chaos and traffic and busy busy hurry hurry. So I am giving you great gratitude for sharing such a warm and loving exercise and way of life, way of connection with the universe. I subscribed and shall continue to view your wonderful work. 💜🙏🏼
Ashley Elizabeth That's super awesome that you're trying to stay healthy even tho you're driving all the time. Keep going and maybe doing yoga at truck stops will inspire other drivers to do the same!
Realized I'm dealing with a lot of body/image dysfunction...no body awareness, not wanting to exist in my body, etc. Need to heal. This is helping me do that.
I have often felt the same way. Yoga has done wonders for my body awareness. After doing yoga for a while now, I finally feel like I'm connected with my body. Best of luck to you with everything! And if you fall off the "yoga wagon," remember that it's never too late to try it again!
@@tayokristine It's still difficult. I was pretty consistent for over a month. Its hard for me to stick to something if I don't think its going to "fix" me. I realize yoga is more then that.
I once did Yoga with Adriene every day for a year. It changed my life. But I 'fell off the mat,' as they say, and that changed my life too, but not so well. Returning to practicing with Adriene feels like hanging out with a sweet friend I'd somehow lost touch with. Showing up really is the hardest part, but once you do, amazing things happen. Namaste, y'all.
I'm a total beginner, tried some yoga video previously and tbh I was losing hope, because my body is not flexible at all and I'm overweight. But my goodness, your video is the best. Helped me a lot mentally, as you say "Don't worry about making the perfect imagine", "It's self expression", "I get tired too", "ouch".... they really really helped me to build my confidence. Thank you xx
I was getting angry because I have 0 flexibility. I always did my work outs without ever stretching (never so that) and I found her RUclips channel. I have watched and followed a few of her video. Definitely worth it, I may be in pain 90%of the time but it is worth the pain in the end.
Hello pretty, I was just going through commne when I saw your profile and that what attracted me to write you. I would love to get to know you if possible. I will be glad to hear from you 🙂
My depression has kept me in bed a lot, which has caused a lot of pain and tension in my shoulders. I thought this might help me alleviate that, and get my blood flowing to help my brain and body reconnect. This was perfect. The right amount of strengthening burn without pain. I havent done anything active since i was little in gymnastics. I love how the poses quickly felt like falling back into those stretches I did when I was 8. I will definitely be returning to this video as I try to improve my health, and get my brain listening to my body again.
Tracie Irene Usually depression is caused by things missing in your DIET! Try eating more spring garden greens in your salad, it has potassium in the greens that can help you! Look up Dr John Bergman, and Eric Berg has videos on depression that I found helpful!
I hv never done yoga before and this lady is both inspiring and patient. She is both realistic and NON-JUDGMENTAL with her body moves and stance. I’m sharing her with all my friends!
male, age 50, 5'8" 236 lbs, started meditating three weeks ago, today will be third day of yoga in a row. first disciplined practice of meditation and first ever attempt at yoga. makin' it happen!!
Awesome! I love meditation I'm on my six month. I suggest you listen to binarial beats when you meditate. Makes your brainwaves relax a lot and is very beneficial to the process. Good luck!
Hi Daniels Mark, I was wondering if you have found meditation and yoga helpful? My doctor recommended both and I would be interested in your perspective
Gorhob Perkins HI. I don't know if Daniels replied to you, but i can guarantee that both yoga and/or meditation are verry powerfull ''techniques'' to find a deeper snese of self, awareness and inner peace, and of course many many more things which can not be explained, but you just have to try for yourself. Peace.
I never thought about doing yoga but i suffer from bad anxiety so i thought id give it a shot to see if it helps me calm down and it worked! only down side is i am the most inflexible person on earth
Janet Seeds Im already doing poses i never thought id do haha, slowly getting used to it and its slowly getting rid of my anxiety. Ever since I started Yoga Ive been less on edge and more happier and less anxious, kind of surprised it worked!
Karly Riches I have anxiety and i have started doing yoga in the last few days and i already feel so much better. just giving myself the time to relax and get rid of some of the tightness in my neck and shoulders has really helped.
52 year old male ... tried this yoga stuff for the very first time . The doctor says my muscles are probably the tightest he has ever seen on someone and I have a torn rotator cuff also . This really made me feel good . I’ve only tried it once and I can tell I’ve made a bit of progress ! I recommend!🤘🏻
I've been doing this video for over a year; started as a jump-off point in dealing with my depression, and now it starts my productive (or not, lol) day. A trainer used to tell me (in my teens) that I was the least flexible person she knew. After a year, I can finally pedal my feet so EACH HEEL can touch the floor during downward dog! I have never been able to do that before, so THANK YOU! Maybe this feat will give me the confidence to continue and watch/work out to more challenging videos on this channel. THANKS SO MUCH, ADRIENE!
I’m not exaggerating, by the end of this I was in tears of joy. I’m 400 lbs, and miserable. This 20 minutes was incredibly challenging for me but by the end I felt more connected to myself than I have in nearly a decade. What an incredible start to my day
Good job!🎉 keep up the good work I love Adrienne bc she makes yoga so approachable! Whenever I’ve been not practicing I start at her older videos and stay there until my body is curious for more. The best working out you can do is what you will do more often, you don’t need to run miles to work out your body just keep doing what feels good and keeps you coming back. I like to walk on my treadmill or do beginner yoga if I’ve been not working out much. Then I naturally build in that, you don’t have to wear yourself out every day! Be proud of yourself for everytime you hit the mat!❤
16, going on 17. I have some unhealthy habits and so I figured exercising would be a good habit to get into and just to better myself as a person. My dad suggested yoga. This was the first video that popped up and I love it, I think this is really going to help. Thank you!
17 year old here! It's awesome that you're trying to get into healthy habits. This channel makes a lot of really good yoga videos and it helps me a lot w my mental health. Good luck with your journey, don't put too much pressure on yourself, you got this
Keep going taramoon! You got this!! As a 50-yr old, I wish I had gotten started younger. Just do it, you'll be thankful later... there is no down side to yoga :)
not gunna lie I never really got the whole yoga thing but decided to try it out, i guess to silence my inner critics. Turns out i enjoy it and hopefully will be able to commit daily.
+Travis Lahey i've always been a loud mouthed brash person and doing yoga calmed me down quite a bit, changed my life really and i thought it was a hobby for trophy wives! my opinion is completely different now, i've lost a ton of weight and i feel much more at peace than i ever did!
I like how you remind us not to try and have perfect poses but to connect with the experience our bodies are embracing. Several beginner videos I've tried seem to be a bit more pushy in getting the poses right which adds stress to a lot of minds for people like me who are brand new to this. Thank you for making it very welcoming :)
Never done Yoga before. I am a very large lady and I turn 50 this year. I found that challenging but I enjoyed. Will favourite it and be back to do it again tomorrow.
Hey, i watched this and did the first half of the video. I'm 56 and disabled with some limited mobility. Even just doing a few minutes per day is a start. Best wishes to you!
@@kathydoucette1381 Wishing you the best recovery. I feel for you with anxiety, I know how devastating it can be. I hope you decide to do the yoga, I'm going to try also.

I totally agree! I've been wanting to try yoga ... maybe for years now. The other day something finally just clicked. I got online, searched and this was one of the first I found that looked like it might be gentle enough for me. It great that you had such a profound experience! Congrats!
For all the newbies who are newbies like me.. As a beginnerI finally made it through the 1st downward dog without having to take a break. 4 days into the first week
I really appreciate reading this. I just tried my first downward dog and realised just how out of shape and rigid I am when I had to take a seat and recover, so it’s genuinely nice to see that there’s people in a similar boat!
felt really bad because I had to take a break, didn't think it was normal for a complete beginner. I feel more motivated now to keep going and maybe succeed next time.
Me too. After being totally humiliated 20 years by a yoga instructor in a ‘beginners’ class this video has been such a blessed experience. I have tried a couple of other ‘beginners’ classes on RUclips but they assume you know what the moves are and go from one to the other with minimal explanation. I am so glad that Adriene was recommended to me by my daughter. 😊
sniffitsblog YES GIRL. Yoga is LIFE when it comes to helping with anxiety and back pain. I have anxiety bad, as well as a spinal issue due to a car wreck years ago. Yoga is LIFE when it comes to pain.
. Being anxious will not change the fact there is a pandemic. You can sing in the rain or you can hide from the rain. Fact is, it's raining. Be kind, remain calm.We are all in this together.
I felt so recharged after doing this for the first time today. I've had problems with depression and social anxiety for most of my life, and while my medication keeps the anxiety largely at bay, it also trims off the edges of my feelings, both the negative ones and the positive. But after following this video today I felt happy and peaceful and relaxed for the first time in literally years. Thank you so much.

This was my third day using your video. I'm a 25, mom of three - last night (after 2 days) I realized I could touch my toes again, no bending knees and pain free, for the first time since I was a teenager! Thank you for these!
I just did this. I can't even explain... I've struggled with my body for years. Abuse on every level. I've PCOS and Adrenal issues that have made weight gain easier and weight loss more difficult. I've read that stress is a nightmare for these things- I stay stressed. Articles and friends have suggested Yoga as an option for relieving stress and a low impact 'exercise' that would go easy on my taxed adrenals. I was intimidated. Have looked at local classes but have been ...too insecure. It's more than the weight. It's the connecting with my body. In order to survive certain abuses I shut off from my body. Now, what once helped me survive, is literally going to kill me. I decided tonight is start. I decided today. I just circles around it until now. This little video. This. Little. Video. Your kind voice and the doable poses and the encouragement to connect to a body I've so long neglected and ignored. I am near weeping. I can't explain it. Thank you. So very much.
+Mandi Aldridge OMG seems like it was an enlightening experience for you. I am here for the first time and my body is just full of stress and I am really insecure too. I'll do it and you gave me hope that it is possible to be happy just as I was when I was a little kid!
I'm so overweight and worried about hurting myself when I try things, this was exactly the beginning I needed thank you. I will definitely be returning to this video.
I took a yoga class at my gym once and I was absolutely out of my league and a very inflexible beginner. I was turned off by it and how the teacher led the class (too fast, not very encouraging). But this short video gave me the confidence to try again! And so encouraging! I love that you say there's no "perfect" pose, since I am not at my most flexible. Thank you, Adriene! I can't wait to watch all your videos!
It’s important to remember classes are catered towards specific levels. It would be counter productive for teachers who host intermediate classes to stop the class every pose for extended amounts of time to show basic poses. Try Hatha or yoga, they are great places to start and will teach you the foundations of asana practice.
Same here. I have been turned out by some instructors who only seem to catered to persons that were in the class awhile and not the beginners. BIG TURN OFF!
I started exercising yoga two years ago with this clip, and it is still my favorite quick fix, I return often to it and it works like magic! It has helped me a lot to stay afloat during challenging and rough moments. I don't know if RUclips counts these views separate as it should, but I decided, that from now on I will give credit and thank Adriene every time this workout saves my day, and document my progress online ( I owe quite a few dozens of thank yous so far...). So, here it goes...
feeling tense, cramped, exhausted, on edge, crushed, and in retreat on all fronts. Not a good day. After this exercise back in the flow, I feel again the inner joy, good and creative energy. With this energy, I can overcome all the difficulties. Thank you Adriene! 🙏
"The Hardest Part is Showing Up". It is so true. I'm glad I managed to show up today despite feeling low and give myself a shot of much needed new energy and a positive vibe.🙏
today my daughter joined in for the first time and tried this exercise. Initially she complained that her joints hurt, but afterwards she admitted that she felt better than before. Yoga is one of the most valuable experiences that parents can pass on to their kids.🙏
I was too, and found that taking magnesium really helped! Best to take it in a powder form, and mix a spoon in with a glass of water. Try it, it may just do the trick x
I actually use magnesium in the powder too like Alexandra T said, as well as many other tricks for anxiety, but yoga does really help me. Stick with it, I've suffered from anxiety almost all my life, it's definitely not easy but it can be beaten, you can do it!
I just noticed this video is 10 years old. That is so unreal to me. I have been coming back to this yoga video all 10 years. I must have watched it thousands of times and know it by heart. It helped me during my weight loss journey. I lost over 100 lbs and this video changed my life forever. Thank you Adrienne for your great content and especially this one video. I will keep watching it as long as I possibly can! My Grandma passed away shortly after this was posted and I used this as a way to meditate and clear my head during that difficult time. This video brings me so much joy and comfort. Thank you again! ❤
+Yoga With Adriene. Hi Adriene. Myself included, I see a few people writing that they began or keep up with yoga partially to help with anxiety. I've been following several of your yoga videos and would love to request a video that is specific to helping with anxiety.....particularly the kind of anxiety that cause tightness in the body, such as our chest, and anxiety that can lead to shortness of breath or holding the breath all together. Thank you!
Hello pretty, I was just going through commne when I saw your profile and that what attracted me to write you. I would love to get to know you if possible. I will be glad to hear from you 🙂
I'm 13 and starting yoga now, I'm not flexible at all and I figured this will be a great way to loosen up Thinking forward in a few years I could be super flexible!
OH.MY.WORD!!! I am 72 years old and this was HARD!!! I cannot bend my knees ALL the way. I WILL be back. Also, I had to hold on for balance. I will be 73 January 7th.
Charlotte - how's it going now? I hope you stayed with this because you will be amazed at how quickly the body responds. After a week or two I think you'll be amazed!
Well done. I'm 31 and my hips/pelvis aches after doing it. Even just sitting up straight hurts my back. She looks so flowy and effortless. I'm going to keep going though and see what happens.
Thank you! I'm a 36 year old overweight male. I have tried Yoga in the past with very little ambition to continue. Other teachers go too fast for me or the poses to start are too hard. This was incredible. She was so kind and gentle, understanding of beginners and she made it easy to follow and understand. I am going to be using more of these videos. Thank you so much for making a beginner feel good.
Namaste 🙏🏼 I am grateful that the ancient wisdom of India and Hinduism (yoga, meditation and chakra healing) is being appreciated and adapted all over the world
I'm pretty unfit. I find exercising embarrassing, partly because of body insecurity and partly because I'm not strong or flexible. I've always had tight hamstrings, which doesn't help. I've always wanted to try yoga, and I really enjoyed it. My favourite thing is that your voice is reassuring and comforting, rather than pushy or harsh. I didn't feel guilty for not being able to straighten my legs fully or whatever. I felt reassured that it's okay as long as I'm trying. Thanks Adrienne. Gonna try the 30 days of yoga and see how I go. 😊
I wish your insecurities won't bring you down. I was saying exactly the same things (that I'm not enough fit, strong and flexible) when I started to practice Acroyoga, and I'm still struggling sometimes to get rid of these toxic thoughts. Keep training and try to gently push your limits, everyday just a little bit more. I found this article useful www.inc.com/kevin-daum/7-ways-to-get-comfortable-with-being-uncomfortable.html Good luck.
manuela ronco Thank you! I'm currently doing yoga with my younger sister, so we're pushing each other to get better. (Really it's me correcting her technique and us laughing when something is difficult). I'm doing TRUE atm, and I'm really enjoying it so far!
finally I found the video for complete beginners that is slow paced and easy to follow without constantly trying to look at screen because you have no clue what the teacher is talking about and all the terms she is using! It was nice, thank you! :)
Just turned 50. 340lbs and Type 2 diabetes. I've given up sweets and now carbs. Hoping that by adding yoga, I can get to a stronger healthier lifestyle. Love this video. Just the right length for mornings before I shower and go to work at a desk all day.

I’ve never done yoga before and came across this video... it was very enjoyable, relaxing and felt good to stretch out all my stiff muscles and joints. I’ll be doing this every day now! Thank you for taking the time to make this 🧘🏻♀️

I have been doing yoga with Adriene for about two years.. I am very moved by how she can touch people around the globe. A few physical issues have brought me to an even gentler yoga and she does it so well. Thank you Adriene and bless all of your followers. What amazing work!
I can’t believe 20 minutes flew by. I’ve been stressed, work nights at fast food until 6am, I’ve been going to the gym and making better choices but this week was really hard. It’s been 4 days since I made an effort and I feel myself slipping into old habits. I came home from work, fell asleep for about an hour and jolted awake. I woke up and one of my first thoughts was how I wanted to move my body. Not wanting to go all the way to the gym, I decided to look up yoga. I had a rather spiritual experience. Thank you for giving me some stability in my body and for grounding me.
I came home from work today, feeling depressed and tired so decided I was gonna sleep in. I sat the alarm for an hour and a half and got in bed. as my eyes were closing and I was falling asleep I had a moment of realization, all I could hear in my head was that this is it, this is the moment you choose. so I instantly got up and as I made my bed I made up my mind to. So happy that the first video that popped up was yours. I did this right now and I'm already feeling a lot better. I've added this to my bookmarks and from tomorrow I'm waking up 30 minutes sooner to start doing yoga 😇
This was my first ever yoga lesson 5 years ago. I practiced this particular flow every morning for weeks and it was the first time I ever felt safe and at home in my body. I have fallen away from yoga the last two years, and today I decided to come back to this video. Returning to this space felt like coming home to myself. It felt so good I cried. Thank you Adriene💗🌸
Whenever I've slacked off Yoga for several weeks I always come back to this video like having a drink with an old friend, if the drink was laced with creaky thighs and a few searing nerve pains in my chest. Adriene's videos are like a gateway drug to hardcore Yoga that you never make it past through cause they're that good by themselves.
Tried this yesterday and was surprised it was over so quickly. I remembered trying other workouts and 15minutes seemed like an hour. This video however seemed to breeze on by. I was disappointed I gave into breaking the downward dog position, but I at least knew the next time I could hold it. Today, I went through it all without breaking pose. I breathed through the pain. I’m proud I made it through the video twice now in two days. I want to keep this up! :)
I had started getting into yoga about two years ago, using Adriene's videos. Then I injured my shoulder and had to have surgery. I was out of commission for a full year. Now, thanks to Adriene's "beginner" videos, I am starting to get back into yoga again. And it feels good. Thank you, Adriene.
My sister passed a year ago, and it’s just been really hard to want to do anything, so I decided that I’m going to start this year doing something, yoga, good for me. I’m so glad I found this video, because it makes this feel doable. And I feel lighter just after one time! Thank you.
I was in complete an utter shock when I realized I had been doing this for 20 mins. It flew by and I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you so much. I really hope my journey of health and fitness grows because this introduction made me feel so empowered and amazing. Thank you so much, really though THANK YOU
Same here. Mom died suddenly one year ago today and I fell into alcohol abuse and comfort eating...gained 30 lbs and lay in bed day after day. She wouldn’t want me to fall apart...so here I am. I am new to yoga...good luck to us all!
Thank you for doing a yoga for beginners video that is actually achievable for beginners. I have seen a few on here that have left me completely confused! I love the fact they are so gentle to. I have a neuromuscular disorder with muscle weakness and even the downward dog is a struggle for me, but this as a whole sequence is achievable for even me and a great starting point. Will happily sit on this for a while.
Thank you! That was a really enjoyable experience and I love that there's no odd, distracting music in the background. Gives us a chance to choose what we wanna hear, or none at all. :)
I practiced Yoga with Adriene quite a lot (daily actually) during the lockdowns, but also, like others, fell off the wagon sometime since, and this week felt the need to get back into doing 'some yoga'. Foolishly I thought I'd try something new so downloaded the free trial of the 'downward dog' app thing. I honestly set it to the absolute beginners restorative session, but it exacerbated all the aches and tension I felt in my back, neck and shoulders. Not to mention the stiffness in my knees and hips. It didn't explain anything about how to get into a pose, or what to be thinking about to improve your posture whilst you're in it. I hurt for the next few days, and then returned to this, my old favourite: Yoga for complete beginners (with Adriene). Sometimes it makes sense to go with the best (for me this feels good) and luckily I know where to come to find it. So much gratitude and love x
I'm well past the 7 day challenge now. Each day with this routine, plus the hip opener & upper/lower back exercises is amazing. I've transitioned from "couch potato" to "floor flounder". I honestly though I'd me more sore, but the sensation of increased flexibility and better sleep is amazing. I'm excited to decide on my next routine. Thanks again.
Yes you are right Adriene, the hardest part can be getting to the mat. Isn't it fascinating how we resist the things we know are good for us? What is this about? There must be a chemical in the brain and a way of seeing things that produces this resistance. Today though I just said to myself, stop wasting time thinking about it and get on with it and that was easy, so maybe I've got this resistance thing nailed, for today anyway😂🙏Thanks again.
Hi Adrienne, I tried one of your videos before and I couldn't do it and gave up for awhile. I'm 63 and have been practicing Qigong and that has helped get me more energy and now I want to do Yoga. I've practiced this video with you 3 times so far, and each time I hear something new and get little more "integrity," in my body! Thank you, Adrienne!
I have been so stressed out recently. My health and hormones are messed up. I'm gonna start doing this in hopes of getting healthy and getting my body back on track. Thank you!
Saaame. Work has been a carousel of leadership changes (it's a family owned business) and it's gotten my hormones and sleep all out of whack. Hoping to get myself back on track by doing more yoga/stretching even on days I don't work out
Hello pretty, I was just going through commne when I saw your profile and that what attracted me to write you. I would love to get to know you if possible. I will be glad to hear from you 🙂
Hello i just wanted to comment and say a few things. Im on day 3 of doing this video and ive noticed such a difference. I wasnt able to sit cross legged before, im very short and also very heavy so to sit cross legged was always such a painful struggle for me. On day 3 im finding it so much easier to get in that position and just stay there without my legs burning. Thank you for that. In downward dog the first time i tried it i stepped out of it and back into it 4 or 5 times because it hurt to bold myself up, with working on my breathing on day 3 i only stepped out of it and in again once! Im going to continue to practice these poses with this video. Its giving me more confidence and awareness of my body and helping me push past my limitations. I feel like i dont have to be intimidated by yoga. Thank you so much for that!
Neglected my body for way too long... When I got to the volcano pose, I burst into tears. Such an emotional release of trauma! Thank you thank you thank you....
I'm here to my first yoga class ever!! Grateful to find Yoga with Adriene. I have worked out for a long time, but felt my energy shifting and needing more calm energy in my life. A wonderful start to a new day!
Hey everyone! I am still here after 5 months of practice ever day! My twist is pretty good, my upper thigh almost parallel to earth, my posture is much better, I feel great and mostly having fun. It is still a bit of a challenge but I am loving it . Hang in there! Adriene, Thank you so much for your encouragement and love. Namaste
Day 1, difficulty sitting on the mat: rather advanced arthritis in hips and lower spine. But followed along as best as I could. After your Beginners and Seated classes, I stood up to discover I had much less pain in my back! Day 2: spent 45 minutes with you, and my range of motion( stiffness) also MUCH improved. Day 3: Not only could I sit on the mat, but I was able to sit cross legged for part of the class. I'm looking forward to being able to do the activities that my back pain has prevented! And also to improving my strength and flexibility for your other classes. So grateful, Thank you!

I have wanted to start yoga for years, something about it has always seemed so incredibly peaceful to me. With 2020 being a hard year, I noticed it was taking a toll on my inner peace. I decided I wanted to take back my inner peace. So today I did this yoga sequence, and I plan to continue it for a week. Thank you, your encouragement for beginners is incredible.

I found the workout to be relaxing. My range of motion increased with just one workout. I am very optimistic about the future. I am 6'4" and weigh 320 pounds. If I can do this workout almost anyone can. I am also a stroke survivor. I was sore the day after. Simple calisthenics worked out the soreness.
I have MS so its difficult for me. Im 5'8 and 165 but the breathing and stretching together is really hurting me. Maybe I need a personal yoga therapist. 🤷🏻♀️ If anyone has some suggestions please help!
@@jrmckim Hope this finds you well. Have you heard about DDP Yoga? It was started by a former pro wrestler and can be loud and not what you might think of as yoga and I am not recommending the DDP program. I am pointing it out because they have modifications for everything. They have "bed yoga" and "chair yoga" for people who can barely move for whatever reason. Their message is to just do whatever you can and don't give up. Best of luck to you.
@@freeme905 Yoga has been crafted by Indian sages for over 5000 years, it's not just movement of limbs, modifying any of the poses could render it useless, even thought it may not seem like it.
I’ve tried other yoga channels, but seriously NOTHING compares to this one. I can go at my own pace to a soothing instructors voice and still feel energized for my day after each session. 🧘🏻♀️
28, starting to practice this again. Since the end of februari I am home because of being burned-out. 3,5 months later I am finally ready to watch this youtube video and follow instructions! A biggie for me! Slowly my body and my brain are getting better. 5 years ago I started to be more aware of the sensations in my body with this video and to losen everything up. Now I am starting over again!
Literally to the 1% who's reading this, God bless you, and may your dreams come true, stay safe and have a wonderful day
Aww, you as well kind stranger! Have a wonderful day, day after day 😍💖🥰
Thanks for the positive comment, may you have a great day as well

I'm in tears... I feel so good and so much better physically and emotionally after doing this everyday for a week. I can't believe I waited until the age of 48 to start Yoga
Same thoughts - am 53))
I am 45, and it is my first month of Yoga too! Im loving it, hope you are too
Shoot, I am trying this today for the first time and I'm almost 57. I can thank or blame my Apple watch for giving me a 20 minute yoga challenge. Apparently, today is International Yoga Day.
I’m going to start too 😃
Same here feeling so
Happy and in good mood 😉
I've followed this video 33 mornings in a row, and it still cracks me up at the end when Adriene says, "That was just a simple sequence to get us started." I'm 52. It has definitely not gotten "simple" for me yet, but it's so gratifying to witness myself becoming stronger, slimmer, and more flexible each day. I'm so grateful for this video. Thank you, Adriene!
I totally get you! At 53, those simple sequences are a bit challenging. Been looking to regain flexibility and her flows seems to be the most relaxed and patient for inflexible me lol.
I’m 51 and just getting started too. Simple it is not but I’m proud of myself for trying and laughing at myself vs. getting discouraged.
I'm 62 and these simple positions have made me feel like I'm 92!. Lovin' it, sticking with it, thank you Adriene.
please check my channel 🥺✨ I'm uploading relaxation musics and yoga

Namaste.
Can you tell me what other video you do in the evening? Thank you for the encouragement. Day 2 today. ❤

I started this with Adriene, a brand new beginner, one year ago this month. Its a life changer, you guys...I now practice daily and have completed yoga teacher training. When I started, this video felt so hard..yet I knew I felt different after. If you are new, keep at it. Its SO worth it.
Thank you ! Your comment gave me strenght !
Best of luck with sharing your yoga. xo Namaste

I was getting angry because I have 0 flexibility. I always did my work outs without ever stretching (never so that) and I found her RUclips channel. I have watched and followed a few of her video. Definitely worth it, I may be in pain 90%of the time but it is worth the pain in the end.

+Tracie Irene Try listening to ASMR before bed, maybe that will help everything too. Never know!
Tracie Irene yoga has helped my depression sooooo much. it doesnt necessarily get rid of mine, but with yoga I feel like I have the tools to roar back
Too much talking in my opinion. Kind of annoying. Muted the video. Much better.

I found myself crying half way through this workout, and I don't know why, but it was a good thing.

I agree! I just tried it today.
This was my third day using your video. I'm a 25, mom of three - last night (after 2 days) I realized I could touch my toes again, no bending knees and pain free, for the first time since I was a teenager! Thank you for these!
Thanks!
^* to start.

Completely agree. This was my experience taking a class as well. This video made me feel really good about yoga though- I'm going to continue!
It’s important to remember classes are catered towards specific levels. It would be counter productive for teachers who host intermediate classes to stop the class every pose for extended amounts of time to show basic poses. Try Hatha or yoga, they are great places to start and will teach you the foundations of asana practice.
Same thing happened to me. I walked out within the first 20 minutes for the same reason.

Thank you, Adriene, for changing my life for better! Namaste 🙏
Feeling exhausted, in pain, slow, tight and stiff. After 25 minutes my body and mind work again. 🙏
feeling tense, cramped, exhausted, on edge, crushed, and in retreat on all fronts.
I love yoga with Adriene. I’m 48 and haven’t exercised in years. I’ve been doing yoga with Adrienne for two weeks now and I feel great.
I'm suffering with really bad anxiety right now, and your videos are the only thing keeping me sane.
THANK YOU
You can do it!
I have anxiety also which often cause panic attacks .sending you ❤ I had a bad one last night that’s why I’m here.
Same here I have a bad anixety 😭😭
I just noticed this video is 10 years old. That is so unreal to me. I have been coming back to this yoga video all 10 years. I must have watched it thousands of times and know it by heart. It helped me during my weight loss journey. I lost over 100 lbs and this video changed my life forever. Thank you Adrienne for your great content and especially this one video. I will keep watching it as long as I possibly can! My Grandma passed away shortly after this was posted and I used this as a way to meditate and clear my head during that difficult time. This video brings me so much joy and comfort. Thank you again! ❤
I really liked her session. Really teaching the "soul/spirit " part of it.
***** So glad Julie! Namaste.
Thank you!

Thank you! I'm a 36 year old overweight male. I have tried Yoga in the past with very little ambition to continue. Other teachers go too fast for me or the poses to start are too hard.

Hi Joanne hope you’re okay?

You can really see her genuine passion and love for her craft. It's beautiful and inspiring.
'floor flounder' 🤣i love it !
