I had a similar situation when I moved to my farm with ATV’s and also with campers and hikers that had been used to having free reign. I did post a few keep out signs, I did find out after talking to some of them that they had enjoyed my property and had no where else to go. I have 80 acres so I designated an area for them to use, in partial exchange for some work! It worked out real well, they had a place to come to and also helped me with many different projects, clearing trails, cutting fire wood and even helped with some building projects. That was 10 years ago, they actually helped me establish camping areas and structures that I now use as “air b&bs”!
I was thinking the same thing, I couldn’t hear what he told them but most people are just looking for places to ride and if you just let them know that…hey i just bought this and plan on living here and fixing it up and i would appreciate if you pass the word around…they will respect that and help you and keep an eye on the van, etc. If you run them off you may end up with some ill will coming back on you.
@@tyleranddobby ahhh…thats too bad they chose to be jerks. Good luck to you as you progress your work!

@tyleranddobby Any news on the unwanted visitors?
You’ve got an absolutely prime piece of property! All those apple trees means fresh and cold stored fruits, deer for meat that come In to feed on the apples. That creek could support a small hydroelectric plant that can produce power with a pelton wheel. This can produce power for your cabin and even to power a pump to your house.
A small root cellar to store fruits and vegetables. You’ve got an unlimited supply of firewood to heat your cabin in the winter. You’ve got a gem Tyler, a diamond in the rough. And you’re the gemologist.
100% add 2 more different types of apple trees, peach and pear. He could go with some solar panels. also add mint, onions, and etc.
What an adventure. Thank you Tyler, for sharing your amazing experience. You and Dobby are fun to watch and you're very inspiring.
Having homesteaded in Alaska and having had a VERY long "driveway" that was often flooded out, I have to say that you would benefit from getting one of those tough plastic sleds ( the ones used for gear and dragged by a snowmobile...there are various sizes.) Pick one that is not too big and you can LOAD it and drag it in for about the same amount of effort. You will be able to move MUCH more at a time up that road. Even my twelve year old son ( at the time) was able to sledge LARGE amounts of gear in from the main road. It will save your back and many trips back and forth! The sleds wear well. There will be some gouges but it will remain intact. That is what we did to get our supplies back into our property and to our cabin. Enjoyed the video. Cheers!
Best to cut out the centre branch of the apple trees, thus it will spread out and form a umbrella shape ,EASY TO PICK THE FRUIT,without ladders ,
I believe you may have 22 apple trees! 🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎Oh my, stewed apples, apple pie, apple sauce, apple juice, so much fresh fruit for food. Very easy to dig a small cellar for storage through the winter.
You have a beautiful property.. a lot work ahead but rewarding. Little by little you'll get there 😊😊💖💖
G'day from downunder Tyler and Dobby.
Nice to see the progress you're making. You could reassemble the red bunk bed frame and throw a tarp over it and use it for some firewood storage
I love that idea. I never thought about that . The original interim idea was the shelter logic but I’m missing half the posts and then I was thinking maybe tarp under the cabin at the back as well as the porch area but I like this idea! Thank you🙏❤️
Watching from Sturgeon falls Ontario Canada
Pretty sure moss doesn't hurt trees.
neat laundry shower area
You can make your own cider apple 🍎 sauce I say 39 🍎 tree's
We had apple trees at our cabin and deer always cleaned them up. In the fall we would clean them up and store them in the freezer and feed the deer throughout the winter (they nested in the yard all winter).
So proud of you! So many people would love to do what you are doing but are uncertain. You just do it. You’re doing great.
🙏❤️
Love those coveralls🥰
She’s your buddy 🐶 LUV you think of her and hope she enjoyed the beach!
Don’t worry about limiting her space. She could easily eat something that could make her sick. You’re right to keep her safe.
God bless you and your kind heart!!
Hope the ATV folks respected your privacy.
New subscriber. Watched 2 vids so far. Looking forward to discovering more
Apple tree count 85. You will need to start stockpiling firewood. Born and raised in N.S., I know the weather only too well. Take care of yourself.
I just stubbles on your channel yesterday and binged everything to get caught up. Subscribed now so I can stay up to date with your progress
When money allows and if an ATV isn't in the picture, I've had good luck with an old riding lawn mower with AG tires and the deck removed. I have a small pull behind cart that I hitch to it and it _really_ helps with lugging material to and from my job sites on the property. Shoutout to Bush Radical for that tip.
If you could find a used cast iron bathtub you could put it by your shower and have a wood fired hot bath
great job so far!!! God be with you in your journey...
Thank you! You too!
Just a new follower and I know I'm going to love this journey with you.. Went back to the beginning and got caught up..I can't wait for the next video's keep up the great content ✌️🇨🇦
Hey Tyler, you are awesome. The progress is clear and you have the ability to do anything you want. Take the time and enjoy it, stay safe.
You are awesome!
A few years ao with the Kelowna wild fires, they said some homes may have been saved, if they had not used wood chips and bark as a ground cover upto and around their homes. Just something to consider.
Dogs truly are a gift from God. Hope Dobby enjoyed zooming around the beach!
You definitely need to get some cavalier pants so when your chain sawing
I really hope those guys that arrived on your property will be kind and just stay away now that they know it’s yours. Stay safe. 🥰🥰🥰
great progress! love it. especially those stones around shover area. it looks nice. Porch is wonderful, new color for door etc, well done. Glad atm friends visited you and they recognise you from now as new owner. thats great. stay positive, dont forget, nature and hard work heals everything ;)
Get yourself a USB rechargeable shower Amazon has them , just place the end in a bucket of warm/hot water . You could utilise the old mattress, if they have metal inner springs ,. Strip off or burn of the old material then it could be used as a screen/windbreak for your shower placed upright . Grow a vine up it or use it to grow beans a upright garden structure or I have seen them used as sides for a chicken coop . The place looks awesome, great work . I woud be getting a gold pan see what treasures are in that creek .
I'm guessing 43 apple trees. It's amazing what you have done Tyler. My 30yr younger self is envious of what you are doing. Keep your head up, take time to enjoy your labors. Man, even as difficult as it would be you make me want to go out and buy a piece of land out in the middle of no where. Blessings on you my friend.
I believe in you Jeff! 🙏🫶
You are an amazing young man and I look forward to watching your journey. Hope those trespassers are not giving you too much trouble.
35 apple trees let us know soon ,,,
You should be proud of yourself for doing what you do and have done and will do. I see such a can do attitude, so don't beat yourself up so much.
I’m inspired by your creativity and bravery. Now that I’m getting “older” I wish I would have done something similar. The world is getting crazy so having a place off grid is a really smart thing to be doing. Don’t forget to take care of yourself and have some “me” time. Are you planning on being there year round? If so, don’t forget about food storage! With all the apple trees you may want to barter or even sell at a farmers market, if they have one. Keep safe! TTYL
I am concerned about the apparent mold on your walls. I would remove the fiber glass insulation with a respirator and use a mold killer. Mold is extremely toxic. Lowe’s sells a good mold cleaner; I used it after Katrina. Might use a dehumidifier to dry things out.
I just found your channel today. I can’t tell you how much I admire what you are doing.
these are the kind of subliminal messages we need more of! maybe then, people like us, wouldnt want to die 😢
The cheap and easy solution to the roof leaks is a bit of roofing tar. It will stop the leaks in the short term but I looks like you need new shingles in the next year.
Picked some up today so should have it fixed shortly! 🙏
@@tyleranddobby I would have gone with metal roofing, if affordable....
Wster pooling by the cabin is probably in part due to not having gutters on the roof.
Also a good spot for water catcher.
Beautiful views and will get better each day as the weather changes. That's a beautiful poem and words to live by. Thank you for taking us along your journey.
Poetry is a great healer for me so I appreciate that so much! 🙏❤️
You are an inspiration...will enjoy watching your journey!!! You are livin the dream many of us have. Thanks for sharing ❤
All your hard work is paying off Tyler. It looks great and looks like a home now. It was nice to come across your channel just as you'd recently bought the property. Love your progress. Stay safe. Steady on.
Perhaps a kitten for Dobby? A cat is critical for keeping the rodents at bay in a rural environment and they are extremely interesting animal companions. Dobby would love a feline companion!
I have been thinking of a friend for her for awhile! 🐾🐾
Im so impressed with your work ethic and ability to just go after it. These videos have been very entertaining and i genuinely hope you find your peace brother. If you ever wind up in Pennsylvania for whatever reason theres a hot plate and good conversation waiting for you. Best of luck on this journey brother!
🙏❤️
You're doing GREAT! What a gift to have found this beautiful property...and a cabin you will creatively transform step-by-step into your cozy home with incredible views for you and Dobby! No small thing my friend! Looking forward to your next video... thank you for taking us all along! 🫂🌹🫂
Hope those people that have the ATV will spread the news that the property is now private.
Hell ya man! Ur crushin it! Keep it up..
Little 12 volt water pump w/ hose layed in the garbage can water tank will provide water for the instant on demand water heater will fix you right up!!
Need update roof just tarp it for winter should hold till spring think about putting on metal roof it will be little more expensive but worth it.
Dawn dish soap n water (4 table spoons dawn, 1 gal water) put in sprayer....will kill all your ants or any bug
I bElieve in you too.
Brother get you a couple of those 1000l totes with the metal cage on them and some gutters and save all that rain water
As I sit here about as far away from you as I could get, in Perth Western Australia, I'm motivated by your work ethic and 'can-do' attitude Tyler.
Keep waking up and keep going.
You are doing a great job.
Thanks for having us along for the ride.
Hi @violetgrowers! Fellow West Aussie here…fancy that! So nice to see all the encouraging comments too…
Another West Aussie here. How is that view, nothing like that here.
Are you planning on living in this cabin through the winter? I watch RUclips videos on a large smart TV, so I rarely read or leave comments. I watched your other downloads about this cabin. You work hard and have wonderful results. You could use some peppermint oil mixed with water to repel ants. White vinegar also works. You might have to spray under the cabin in the dry soil underneath. If I were going to even visit in the winter, I would want to caulk the windows inside and out to stop some of the wind and get that stove working. I would also suggest Dr. Bronner's peppermint oil soap. It's biodegradable, can be used for hair, body and teeth(though it taste awful), helps eradicate funguses, can be sprayed on fruit trees to repel bugs and disease and for sponge baths. If you don't get it all off it won't hurt you and even has some olive oil in it that's soothing for dry skin. If you use it on your privates and pits you won't smell. Be careful it's concentrated. You have to dilute it. I buy it by the gallon. Not for dog baths, but it's a lovely shower for humans. I'll be watching. Hope Dobby enjoyed the beach and some time with you! My guess is 65 apple trees.
Now thats true grit. Good for you life is everything around you life is respect of the universe giving you this small space to survive in. I respect the hell out of what you said
Well done for all your hard work 👏🏻 I really hope it becomes everything you want it to be.
Great video. You are getting so much done. Cute puppy too!😊
Hi Tyler and Dobby! I'm new on your channel. I did watch most of the older videos before you purchased that property. I liked them, they were nice, but now i love the new ones from your property. What an amazing change. You have worked so hard and there is a lot to do, but if somebody can do it, dear heart, that is you! The peacefulness and the beauty all around is just breathtaking. You have seen comments of putting a tarp or tar on the roof. I agree that at least until you can put a new roof, that's a good idea. I'm sure you are going to work also on the logs under the house. Just be safe, and one thing at a time. And be proud of yourself for all the wonderful things you have accomplished. I don't know you but I'm super proud of you. God bless you and your ever loving best friend!!!
You might want to consider some guttering into catchments to conserve water for other than consumption, saves having to carry it, and will direct it away from your foundation too.
You can use purple paint to mark your property lines
Great to see you are taking time out to do something creative like that shower. It helps immensely. I can tell in your breath that you are working hard mate. Keep it up 👍🇦🇺
Wow! You have done an amazing amount of work already! You are surrounded by God’s beautiful creaction! We have enjoyed all of your accomplishments thus far! Keep up the good work, you’ll make it! 👏👏👏
🙏❤️
Awesome place ...wish I had that adventurous spirit when younger....lol late bloomer....now 64.....keep going
If you want water from the stream to the cabin, look up RAM PUMP no electric required easily go up that hill.
Hi Tyler, hi Dobby. It's a beautiful lot of land you've found, I hope your neighbors are kind and peaceful loving people. The land looks healthy and fruitful, I wish you both many a bountiful day and night.
ants do like to nest in those rail ties too
If you have some good stones on your property, those could be stacked to replace the wooden footers. Would be old school and look nice. Nice work so far. Only thing I would try to reconsider is burying the mattresses and junk. Perhaps if you get the word out, someone could help you get that off the property?
Thanks! The good thing is I got everything tarped down so I can at least pull out what I can still burn. I was just hesitant about the mattresses because of microplastics.
@@tyleranddobby Yeah, you never know about forever chemicals and stuff as well. These things tend to leach over time into the watershed. Perhaps its quite the hassle right now, but I think its worth while long term getting most of it taken away without burying or burning.
Agreed!
You're land is beautiful. No doubt you are overwhelmed with what must be done but i bet you are also thrilled with all the possibilities. The view is breathtaking ☀️🌄
So that’s what the vehicle tracks were.
Well,I’m sure that was at least three of the people that have been staying in your cabin previously!😮
Possibly build a little relationship with some of the ATV folks that could help you with finding a good used ATV and a ATV big wheeled trailer. The Borax for Ant control. If you are looking at building some sort of garden think of an 8ft fence and solar hot wire around it. Bring in Dry Concrete to rebuild your foundation.
I noticed the cabin is missing a beam on the back side of the cabin. It should be just like the centre beam. That is why the cribbing is kicking out. The 3 sets of cribbing should be properly centred under the beam. I assume the front of the cabin is also missing a beam. The beams job is to take the stress off the floor joists and end plates. This is why the floor joist broke or perhaps has twisted because the nails have let go.
A friend of mine once said "The key to building a long lasting structure is make sure it has a good hat, good coat and good boots."
Thank you for this! ❤️
Apple trees are a great asset. Fall deer hunting looks very promising.
For the roof buy a can of RoofTar and use it on the leaking spots. It will stop the leak and dont cost much. Its good for the budget. Of course there are more costly sulutions also.
You inspire me. We bought the property of our dreams and are experiencing some similar issues to you. Sometimes, it wears us down. We have two acres we can't even get to because of overgrowth. But, one day at a time. You are doing an amazing job with some pretty raw material.
Well done Tyler…your property is lovely & you are so diligent with your chores. Dear little Dobby is just happy to be with you, you guys are a perfect match! Looking forward to more videos from you…
Cover the roof with a tarp! Great progress!
Where is your firewood? Winter is upon us. You are making me nervous.
This is awesome! If you ever get lonely, I have a lot of money and food.. I’m good at gardening and preserving.. would love to share the land with you🤪 PS don’t forget to grow elderberries😁
The shingles are not right around the flashing of the chimney. You’ve got such a wonderful view there. The deer and birds will take care of any apples you have .
Could you get some gutters on the roof sides to get the water away from the ground and foundation?. At least they are light to carry in! Your fall views are going to be amazing when the trees turn.
Hello to you Tyler and to little Dobby from Australia. This was a very interesting video. You’ve made a lot of progress. The place definitely looks ‘lived in’ now. I hope the ATV visitors respect your new ownership of the house and land. It appears that quite a few people favour your place for their 4-wheeler adventures. Perhaps putting up a few ‘Private Property’ signs on sticks around some of the tracks would help to get word out that it is now your private property. Thanks for a great episode and I look forward to the next one. Pat Dobby for me please. She’s a sweetie. Cheers. 👍🏻🇦🇺🦘
Hey! Thank you so much. I’ve been to Australia once for work in Cairns. It’s a beautiful place!! Definitely a lot of signage. I think it’ll just take some time for the word to get out. I tried putting flagging tape across the entire entrance beside the realtors sign to make it more obvious but we’ll see when I get back tomorrow. 🙏❤️
@@tyleranddobby Hey Tyler, thanks for your reply. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Australia. It really is a wonderful place to live. I’ve been reading through all the comments and there’s some pretty helpful advice there. A big thought occurred to me about the trespassers; especially given they were less than enthused about your new ownership of you place. Please be sure to note their licence plate numbers if you can. Take notes on any of the descriptive details ‘just in case’. I’m also a lone person (military veteran with PTSD), and I’m very accustomed to taking a mental note of my surroundings just as a precaution and for self preservation. If something unpleasant occurs, then you have a potential lead for the authorities to look at. It might sound a tad odd to get into the habit, but it could be very helpful in the future. It’s a strange old world that we live in, and we must look out for ourselves and our property. This is just some Kind-hearted advice from an old gal who never underestimates what life can throw at you. Stay well Tyler, and pat Dobby for me. Kind regards mate! 🇦🇺🦘
Awesome roof top view" (WOW)
This is great I live in main land N.S and your living my dream right now! Good luck man your doing great!
Love the shower, and the amazing river frontage.❤
Good one👍. Keep doing more longer videos.
I’ll be honest when I first uploaded all the footage to adobe premiere it was one hour and 47 minutes haha. It took me 2 full days to get to 26 minutes.
You're doing really well with sorting everything out Tyler. I'd love to see Dobby doing her zooming on the beach, maybe in a future video?
The hikers on the 4 wheelers looked respectful to me, they left when they understood the property had been sold, so nothing to worry about :)
Suggestion - in the future maybe clear a path around the house (instead of directly to) for the ATV's to travel along with your blessing. This may keep good will and hopefully people can help you transport supplies and gear back and forth some times.
Hi. “Boss of the swamp” used a carboy painted black to heat water in sun during the day to get a warm shower. Think it’s a couple gallons. You may enjoy his channel and also “kyles cabin”
Good luck. You don’t have to do everything at once. Enjoy your life and work hard is satisfying
Tyler, plan ahead now. You will outlive Dobby. I live in Bobcat, Coyote and Mountain Lion country. Add wolves to the formula where you live. It is not safe to let Dobby run free. They will run up and snatch him in front of you. For your next dog get a protection species (big dog).
I agree, Boston's are pretty active .
Richard organics sells a flea and tick spray for animals that works really well for my dogs. I even use it on my self. It's all natural oils but actualy works.
37 apple trees.
Enjoy the beach Dobby!
Zoooomies!
I bought a property in 2018, after being homeless for 5 years. When I see a snake on my property, it's like a " good luck" sign. They are little garter snakes, not harmful ones. How many apple trees? I'm gonna guess 29. Please stabilize the foundation of your cabin as soon as possible! You would have to put a brick or pad on the ground and put a jack under the corners to raise it up, then put some sturdier structure under there. I enjoyed your video, welcome to RUclips, most of us on here are kind supportive people. Have a great week!
Looks like a tin roof is needed and all round guttering ,with Down pipes and four gravel soakaways ,
Just found your channel and subscribed. Looking forward to the progress to come.
Thanks!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cool vid, great views and you've achieved a great deal in a short amount of time, well done!
Is this Canada?
Yea! Cape Breton, it’s beautiful spot in eastern Canada. So many friendly people!
Great job so far and it's only the beginning.
