There's a really minor win here, but as someone who adores Mongol history I needed to say it. Mongolia didn't have a written language during Genghis' time, so they simply used Chinese for a long period of time. Kublai, who's Khan during the period Ghost of Tsushima takes place, had a Mongolian written language be created, trying to blend the Mongolian culture with Chinese in hopes it will last longer. Unfortunately most people didn't like it, finding it difficult and not detailed enough to convey everything they need, so it was pretty much forgotten and they continued use Chinese. Jin being able to read most things the Mongols write therefore makes perfect sense, since in all likelihood most of them would've avoided using Mongolian at all costs

What people are forgetting to mention about this game is how the gameplay evolved with the story. At the beginning you only have your sword and fighting skills. When you're still a Samurai. When you've unlocked all the tools and tricks of the assassin/rogue/stalker, you've gotten to the point in the story where you're more the Ghost. Most games have a fairly arbitrary reason for why your character becomes stronger and can use more abilities and tools over timed. But in GoT you have access to more abilities and tools as Jin realizes he needs to "cheat" in order to win in combat (and not have hostages executed).

one of my favorite aspect that was not mentioned, due to the fact you most likely didn't know and there's no hint to it, but if you bow to taka's and your first horse grave you get unique effect appears. and if you bow to dead people corpses (that aren't mongol) jin says something and that is something I love.

I always liked the other ending instead. Not killing Shimura and fully embracing the ghost to him felt I think more climatic than killing him. It kind of reminded me to the ending of The Dark Knight where he chooses to be the villain to save his home. Killing him is tragic but leaving him alive and then knowing they can’t be the same as they once and must be enemies due to their own senses of honor feels more in line to me.

for anybody wondering what the instrument is at 4:12 , it is called a biwa, used often by japanese storytellers (also used by those in mythic tales). specifically, the closest thing i can find to that exact score is the beginning of the tale Nasu no Yoichi, a story of a samurai who in battle, and in rocking water, hit a small fan held off the ship of an enemy group with a single shot.

George Lucas has also mentioned that he was heavily inspired by Kurosawa when making Star Wars so that's why it also uses wipes.
