though this list may seem long, it is pretty limited to what i’m able to find in my area, so apologies if produce from your region / culture isn’t on here! please share with us any additional tips you can think of! and keep fighting food waste! 🥔
Put paper towel or linen napkin in with boxes greens and veggies in plastic to absorb excess moisture. Green onions celery and asparagus standing in water. Unripe avocados in fridge. Place in dark cabinet to ripen
I noticed with carrots, celery and radishes that 3 methods work just as fine: (1) you can either keep them water, (2) wrap them in a moist cloth, (3) keep them in a plastic bag with some moisture. The first option takes more space and requires you to keep changing water, so I prefer option 2-3.
I take baby spinach and salad greens out of the plastic box and into glass canning jars. They keep in the refrigerator much longer than in the plastic.
I just had to throw out a whole bunch of mouldy carrots and it made my heart bleed, so this is right on time! Being a single household but not wanting to go shopping for tiny portions all the time can make avoiding food waste really hard.
oh i'm so glad this video found you! i've also been having luck using a secondhand stasher bag for carrots -- i started getting tired of having to change the water all the time!!
my costa rican grandma stores cilantro and herbs in the fridge. Wash them when you buy, place in a plastic bag with a paper towel and seal. Swear to god they last for like three weeks!

I do the same, only that I use a little cloth that I use instead of paper towel, it just goes in the wash with my whites. :)
