I love how I am just laying in bed while watching this and being hungry at the same time. There's nothing that can compare to it.
BTS IS LIFEU same rn 😂😂😂💋👍🏽
That's true, I'm hella hungry rn and am gonna make a sandwich.
How do u sleep and watch this at the same time
RUclips has taken over my life 😝
aliyah I will be there soon to visit my family. I will eat good and drink lots of daiquiris 😋
I’ve only been to New Orleans once. I am so desperate to go back when social distancing is relaxed. Literally the best food I have ever had. Also the locals are absolutely sweet. Never had a city treat me with such kindness and respect.
You should check out the Mississippi Coast next door. You can find the same food there as well.
@@boogitybear2283 not the same, a similar style, but it is very different. New Orleans food is so good because of the french and hispanic rule throughout history, as well as african food coming to the city (primarily okra)
NYC would be the exact opposite.
@@boogitybear2283 nope

I’m from the NO and the hood has way more affordable and good poboys.
Jaleah yea like banks supermarket 32 inch shrimp poboy is 16.99 can feed a whole family off that monster 🤤🤤🤤
Thats how it always is
Mobbo J have you had one front there? Or I just putting it down cuz it’s in the hood all them places they went to looks like the shrimp sandwiches are dry and plain
I make my own anyway
@@mobboj7338 are you ignorant or just an asshole?
Or are you an ignorant asshole?
With those prices there's no way this dish is for the po boys anymore
HAHAHAH indeed my friend
Its enough food for 2, trust me. Unless you're incredibly hungry you cant finish a whole po boy
If you go next door to Mississippi, they’re less expensive and just as good!
Here in the Bay Area that's cheap🙄🤭
😂😂😂. Should be rich boys
I'm from New Orleans. Born and raised. Good job ladies. You brought me back home for a second.
When the girl and I went to NO a few years back, a friend who is a local said Johnny's was a good spot. Got a shrimp one & a catfish one both dressed and walked to the park looking at the river late afternoon...one of the BEST to go food memory of all time these are great
Been going to Parkway for almost 70 years. The food is great - biggest change (for the better) over the years is the front counter and if you don't know what I mean, you didn't eat there when Henry Jr. and Jake ran the place! My Grandfather was a streetcar motorman during the '29 strike, Mr. Timothy helped feed my family. I truly appreciate what Jay and Justin have done to continue the tradition.
This is popular trash btw. Don't feel that you have to even acknowledge these creeps.
No one cares.BOOMER
@@toxicgameryt8500 At the risk of insulting the creators of this video; were you born rude or did your mother drop you on your head?

Awesome video. I was a tag-along in New Orleans with my wife for four days one may have hen she was on a work trip. I walked around on my own and ate my way though the city every single day! Best food lovers city in America bar none! We ate poor boys all over the place and I had researched the best before we went. Had beef, oyster, soft shell crab, and shrimp pretty much every place we tried. Loved them all - there were no losers and no losing restaurants. When we go back (next March god willing) I’ll only order shrimp. In my humble opinion, it’s the best option no matter which place you go. Loved Domilieses. In the end, the best I had came from Verde Marte in the French quarter. I actually after there 3 times on that trip and it was 3 of the top 4 meals I had in town. Little hole in the wall that took me a while to find cause I kept walking past it. Absolute best sandwiches in town. Muffletta was the bomb too! Would get my sandwich and a beer for an early lunch and go to the south end of Jackson square to eat under the magnolia trees. Wow, such great food. Can’t stop thinking about that place. The other meal that was on my top 4 was the shrimp and grits at Desires Oyster bar - also in the French quarter. I wanted to lick the plate! I ate at least 6 places every day just to make sure I hit all the places I wanted to try. When we go back these are the two places that I can’t live without revisiting. New Orleans and Louisiana is in our prayers for the destruction Ida brought. Be safe and be well! America has your back.
#1. The best poboys in New Orleans usually come from a gas station or a local corner store.
#2. The guy at Killer Poboys just made Banh Mi and is acting like he did something new. 🥴🙄
Omg right!!!! That’s all that is and he even uses a Vietnamese bakery smh
Can you suggest some of this corner stores?
Herrine is Korean and knew what it was and she didn't have an issue with it. Not sure why we would need to virtue signal about it.
Bruh if its good idgaf stop acting like you a food expert and sh*t
@@floridadad2817 Korean..
I grew up uptown so Domilises is very close to my heart, Killer poboys version is a whole new twist but it reminded me of a shrimp take on a Banh Mi, which I'm a huge fan of and that would definitely be something that would be right up my alley.
With all that said, Parkway is absolutely my choice as the best all around. Absolutely overloaded with fresh shrimp. I'm not big on heavy batter and theirs is so perfect.
I ride in the Krewe of Endymion parade, and several of us have a tradition now on the last Thursday before our parade, we load our floats in the morning and then head to Parkway around 1pm for lunch. It's a tradition we look forward to all year long, just as much as the parade itself.
I definitely have to get down to New Orleans since I’ve never been but, just from the description of the killer poboys description it’s very much banh mi.
Still awesome and it’s own thing but not what I think of right off the bat.
In 2003, I visited New Orleans as an European Tourist. I followed a Police Officer just to see where he is having his lunch. He went to Johnnie's. Over the next couple of days, I did try almost every Po-Boy from the menu. I did like the catfish! Hope to dine in again.
1:56 If I had $1 for every time Justin told that Benny and Clovis Martin story, I could buy Parkway Bakery!
Just got back from my first visit to New Orleans. Best experience I’ve had in a long time. This sandwich is so unassuming and simple, but by far the best sandwich I’ve ever had.
That’s what I like to hear!!🤩🤤Love the restaurant employees enthusiasm👍
*makes a literal Bahn mi:
“wE lIkE tO exPeRiMeNt aNd mAkE NeW FoOdS”
Poboys and Bahn Mi are both foods born from being occupied by the French. Two cultures received french sandwich bread... Both made a sandwich. Both exist in harmony and the world has more names for sandwiches.
Vanessa Shemwell the point is that he’s not doing anything “experimental” he’s literally making food that already exists and taking credit for it....
I guess I was getting at how the two sandwiches are synonymous at times in New Orleans. Like I've had this dude's specific sandwich. It's good, nothing to write home about. Agreeing on the idea being a little left of experimental... But like it's technically true.
@@abhipatil6409 I mean he did create a po' boy banh mi which I don't think already exists.
Yeah, they should have said fusion inspired by the bahn mi.
Y’all do such a great job. Very interesting, informative and entertaining. Darling personalities
A freshly cooked shrimp po boy is one of my fav foods for sure. My pops grew up in NOLA. I go a few times a year. SOOO GOOD love it with a fresh ice cold bottled barqs root beer
I want to go to all of these places.
Good discussion of your choices.
And I appreciate the summary and the restaurant timeline.
Thank you!
Killer Po Boy isn’t a Po Boy... It’s a Bahn Mi. 🤔
And all nationalities have their own take on similar foods. There are noodles in soup but that doesnt make it strictly Asian. Pasta doesn't make something strictly Italian. Pickeled veggies are found in many types of cooking.
Exactly dude. These girls are rank amateurs!
@@jcrefasi1 Its the bread and if you went to Vietnam you will see that was a Bahn Mi. All they missed was Thai chilis.
Over at Killer Bahn Mi, they dress their sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles.
Vietnamese food is terrible in general. The backwater swamp of Asia.
Shrimp is delicious😊
Very nice video I like both girls a lot.
Killer Po Boy is killing it with a Po Boy / Banh Mi crossover!! Not mad AT ALL. These are two of my favorite sandwiches!

You two are so great and now, I am so hungry. My pick was Parkway also. It just looked like the perfect po boy.
I was surprised though that none of restaurants used remoulade sauce on them. Oh well, that’s how I make them.
Can’t wait to travel again and go to NOLA.
I love cooking I just made my gumbo it was amazing. I definitely could make this homemade. It's just shrimp in seasoned flour. Good quality bread. Use canola or vegetable oil fry it.. Top with fresh tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and mayo.
Sounds easy definitely making this.
Aaannndd you can buy a remoulade sauce at mostly any grocery store.😄
I Make My Own. 🦐🍞🍟🍅🥖
Great video. Next time in Nola, headed for Parkway!
Johnny's was always my favorite of the big well-known ones. However the best fried shrimp poboy I ever had was out of a gas station if you take the westbank expressway wayyyyy down til you get out of the city and into the bayou. There's a little ma & pa shack looking gas station that used to do big $5 shrimp poboys wrapped in newspaper. Best bread, shrimp, breading, everything hands down
Find the address and put it in your comment. Used to? Meaning they don’t anymore?
@@lanietalk Birdies. So yummm! The location I was recommended is in Paradis. It didn't disappoint.
I had one less than two weeks ago.
Probably not the same spot, but amazing just the same
Is Johnnies still open?
The best poboy imo is actually a fried oyster and bacon poboy.
That sounds amazing..
It's called the peacemaker
I always thought Po-boy sandwiches were originally made with fried oysters. These look amazing and gulf shrimp are to die for.
I get both shrimp and oyster 😋
Just a little Poor Boy trivia from a New Orleanian, Dong Phuong is the name of the fantastic Vietnamese bakery they spoke of, and the very first Poor Boy sandwiches were called French Fried Poor-Boys. They consisted of French fries, Mayonnaise and roast beef gravy with bits of meat (debris). It was super cheap, like a nickel for a whole loaf.
These two are so cute! Great video.🌻
The 3rd sandwich was a banh mi
More like banh mi inspired. I’m vietnamese and I’ve never seen fried shrimp in banh mi in my life. But it looks delicious
@@melon-tz2bf it wasn't fried
Random 8:11 Thats called pan frying my dude. Pan fried or deep fried, it doesn’t matter. Its still not an authentic banh mi therefore its a po boy with a Vietnamese twist.
melanie everything is Vietnamese they even have the pickled vegetables so I would say it’s poboy inspired banh mi sandwich
@@rndmbs it was pan fried or sauteed. It was not deep fried. It's still cooked in oil, just a lot less
Po’boy that looks so good
After hundreds of comments you made, this is the few times it isn't the top comments
Please don't finger the po'boy
Thank you ladies- I live near New Orleans. I plan to visit thoses places I haven't been to.
Herrine's and Alana's jobs seem like so much fun.
When I'm in New Orleans, there is only one spot I go to for a Po Boy...and that's Mother's Restaurant on the corner of Poydras and Tchoupitoulas. I highly recommend the Ferdi which consists of Baked Ham, slow roasted roast beef and Debris ( bits of roast beef that falls into the gravy as it cooks , it's the consistancy of sloppy joes almost). Bring cash since they don't take cards.
8:45
I grew up in the New Orleans area. I have eaten po-boys all over the city. That is not a po-boy. That is a gourmet sandwich. I'm sure it's good, but it ain't a po-boy. Can't gentrify a po-boy. It shouldn't be on this video.
Me too....in the 9th Ward and I used to cook at genes poboy....
Man Louisiana born raised sir. But that was indeed a poboy just done the Vietnamese way. Now you being from Nola know that the Vietnamese have a huge influence there.
You’re correct, it’s a Vietnamese Bahn Mi renamed a “Po-boy” to attract tourists and locals. Of course, Vietnamese food is VERY French but it doesn’t have the spirit of NOLA in every bite.
Johnny’s is the absolute best po boy I had while in NOLA. It was amazing!!!!!!!
No bs, very excellent video
It looks DELICIOUS!!!!!!
I want one 😋
I will get one when I go to visit my family there soon. I will eat good and drink lots of daiquiris 😋. I will film everything for my channel 😊.
Why am I watching this, I live here
Wow all this Po Boy sandwiches look fantastic 😍
There’re the best. I can’t wait to go visit my family there soon 😋.
My favorite is NOLA Poboy on Bourbon Street. I don’t know how they make them taste so good, but It TASTES as if they marinated the shrimp in shrimp boil and then put the spices mixed in with the cornmeal. They are freaking out of this world!
Domilise’s is the best , people in New Orleans know this
“And It has to be super well seasoned” your in New Orleans it’s gonna be well seasoned 😂🤦🏾♂️
To everyone who sees this comment, keep pushing in life and never give up. Can't wait to see you successful one day and May God bless you!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Went to all 4 locations on my recent visit to NOLA. All were really good. But if I want fried shrimp po boy I would mostly likely go to Parkway or Johnny's. I am not a fan of ketchup on the sandwich but Domilise still have the same great ingredients as the other spots. I just like the flavor profile of the other two better with just mayo on the sandwich. As for Killer Poboy, that seared shrimp sandwich was so good with the pickled condiments.
I lived in New Orleans for 5 years, long before all the new-fangled, hipster restaurants moved in. For fine French-Creole dining you couldn't beat LeRuth's in Gretna across the river (since closed).
But for po-boys, Domilise's wins hands down. Their sandwiches are divine.
Frankly, I don''t recall beef po-boys being popular in New Orleans when I lived there. Never dined with anyone who ordered one. Maybe beef muffaleta (or muffuleta) sandwiches at Mother's, but not beef po-boys.
I always ordered a shrimp po-boy or a shrimp-oyster combo po-boy at Domilise's. It's the restaurant I have missed the most since moving away from New Orleans.
Domilise's. LeRuth's. The Camellia Grill. Just the best.
Yeah I was born and raised in NOLA and I wouldnt consider a roast beef poboy as being popular unless its gotten popular in the 20 years I've been gone. No doubt they sell well I would just be surprised if it's one of the highest sellers but I could definitely be wrong. It's my husband's favorite though. 😄
@@Renee_nf094e I wonder if the price of seafood has gone up so much, that the po-boy places have had to push beef sandwiches. When I lived in New Orleans shrimp was a dollar a pound in both Orleans Parish and Jefferson Parish. I invited a friend for boiled shrimp dinner in 1970, had no idea how much I should get for 2 people. Guy selling shrimp on Napoleon Avenue told me I needed 5 pounds! I shared what was left over with the girls in the dorm.
Roast beef poboys are one of the most popular sandwiches but mostly to the local crowd. I think tourist are mainly looking for seafood when they come to town because you can get some vacation of beer sandwich almost everywhere. After you get your fill of the shrimp and oyster I would suggesting trying the roast beef. They are delicious.
I'm from Louisiana nothing like good ol creole food

I like Cajun’s and Gene’s all the favor and not overpriced.
Queen Fu Fu Gene’s closed down like few months ago.

these 2 have great synergy, very lighthearted
I have lived in NOLA for most of my life and our favorite is Domilise’s. So traditional and so good from such a small place. In addition, both Domilise’s and Parkway use Leidenheimer’s bread so it is interesting that you felt there was a difference. (Although I did see a special that showed that Parkway may get some of its bread from Leidenheimer’s and another source equally)
The fried shrimp po'boy is the only one I eat! I love them so much.
I want to visit these sandwich shops in new Orleans!🤤 viva N.O.L.A.! 🤘😎🤘

So, I hate to tell y’all this, but the best po’boy in New Orleans is from a sketchy little convenience store on the Westbank called “River fine foods.” Cheapest too; you can get a massive 36” one for $19. Just thinking about it is making me crave it. 🤤
I was gonna say, the best po’boy’s are found in the local neighborhoods
Damn we were walking through the neighborhoods at the ferry and didn’t know about this place. Next time, the family and I go, we gotta make the stop here!
I challenge all to go to “Hooks Seafood” on Terry pkwy. I’ve been looking for a good shrimp po-boy since Katrina( and Danny/Clydes Napoleon fixed their building but went down on the food quality). Nicely toasted bread, shredded lettuce, tasty shrimp and garlic fries to boot. I refuse to buy a whole one again; too much! Now, I actually split a half with a friend. This was invented during the great depressions. And I still think 11 dollars is to much for this
Go catch your own shrimp then. The sandwich is large enough for 2 people, who are not gluttons, to share.
When you taste it your gladly pay 11 bucks and probably leave a cash tip.
