Very clear instructional. Awesome series
Yt needs to push your vids in the algorithm to the front. Great instructions and work ethic. Subbed
Wish i knew how
Thank you for this video!! You did a great job showing how to do this. Very happy!! God bless!
Great presentation. You covered everything. Hope to see more of you teaching.
Killer video as always! Me and my high milage t5 are watching along making plans haha
GREAT VIDEO WITH STEP BY STEP EXPLANATIONS. I USED THE SHAFT WITH THE CHECK BALL INSTEAD OF THE ROD, WHEN I REBUILD MY T-5 YEARS BACK. THE SHAFT WITH THE CHECK BALL IS STRONGER, AS OPPOSED TO THE ROD WHICH IS DRILLED DEEPER INTO THE SHAFT WEAKENING IT. AN EXAMPLE OF HOW DRILLED HOLES WEAKEN THINGS. ON THE EARLY FORD 289ci ENGINES, THE CONNECTING RODS HAD SMALL OIL SPIT HOLES DRILLED INTO THEM ON THE CONNECTING ROD WHERE IT BOLTED TO THE CRANK. IN RACING APPLICATIONS THEY WERE NEVER USED BECAUSE THAT VERY TINY HOLE WEAKENED THE ROD BY 100HP. MY ADVICE IS TO USE THE BALL DRILL SHAFT FOR HIGH HORSE POWER CARS.
excellent T5 build video!
For clamping a shaft, screw together two pieces of oak or hard plastic like composite decking with a 1/4 inch spacer in between and drill a hole ~ 1/16 smaller than the shaft, centered on the spacer. When you unscrew it and drop out the spacer you have a perfect cushion for clamping the shaft in the vice. If it slips, put one layer of electrical tap on the shaft.
Love your videos dog
Great video
Thanks!
Really enjoying these videos-great stuff mate👍
great videos man. I'm going to try and tackle the t5 for the first time while watching this. I noticed the rebuild kit on your website, ill order that one. However does it come with the needle bearings?
Also if 1st gear or 3rd gear is trash where do i find new gears at?
You a beast. Keep up your good work.
nice man. vids are looking good
Like always, great videos 👌
Hey Tony. Have used this video a few times. Great stuff. My latest rebuild has spring and ball on the main shaft, on the hub, under the 1-2 reverse slider. Is this required? Slider seems much smoother without it. Appreciate any info. Thanks.
Thank you for this.
Your welcome. Be sure to join up junkyarddoggs.com if you need parts.
Got a question.....you've got to have a vendor preference on buying your rebuild kits.. looking for recommendation. Thanks
Yes Anaheim Gear or Gearbox Transmissions
great video tony! I'm in the process of rebuilding mine. I have a question for you. when you got to the point to check to see if all gears were spinning properly. I went to check mine and they didnt. followed you step by step I cant figure out were I went wrong. when I went on to put the spiral shim I noticed things got tight. I have restarted a bunch of times. I'm stock. please help
good job
Thanks again Great info
hey Guys, really cool video. there is a big problem, unfortunately T5 cluster support plate not available to order to Europe. Does anyone have a mechanical drawing or CAD files to do it for myself?
Excellent videos! What is the dimensions of this pipe you use to assist is pressing the bearings on?
2 inch my man
Junkyard Doggs Thank you Sir!
I keep watching the video over and over to see what I am missing... 5th gear will not seat below the c clip groove... I am baffled, have you run into this before?
We miss hearing from you 😢
I lost both of those balls that sit in the main shaft. Do you know the sizes?
Nice vid, I am going to rebuild my T5 trans from a 1989 chevy S-10 with 165,000 mile non world class, on ebay what rebuild kit do you recomment
Anaheim Gear or All State Gear sells solid kits for that set up. call them and see what they say. tell them sent you
What about changing the 5th gear ratio to an 80 or 82 ratio. Can you do that? Or know someone who has?
Yes i can. Ive done it twice before it requires that you install the gear AFTER the main shaft has been installed into the case.
Can I use a sn95z out cobra on a 1984 5.0 mustang if I can what do you have to do to it so it can work?
Yes you can. Change the input shaft and bearing retainers to a Fox length and your good to go.
@@JunkyardDoggsI got the SN 95 bell housing and clutch fork will that work instead of changing the input shaft
@@robertvaughan6125 yes but it will move shifter back further in your interior
When you're talking about horsepower range, standard vs higher horsepower, what ranges do you mean? Would a standard T5 be good for a 302 around 300hp?
All depends on the metal id tag. That is how you get specifics
Whats all needed to get a v6 3.8 tremec t5 to fit behind a 5.0?
The last video of the series is dropping today. I give all the techniques to make it work. You need a v8 input shaft, bearing retainer and change the speedo gear.
in ref, making the teeth weak or aneling the metal when your using a torch.... very bad if you wanna get that gear back to were it was you need to re heat treat it back to spec but first heat treat it for 24 hours and then cool it down naturally and then heat treat it to spec.
That is true, but thats why I use propane, it doesnt get hot enough to do any real damage.
Do you sell rebuilt t5s? rough idea of price?
