I recently bought a 20 plate diesel Combo Life with 18,000 miles on the clock and was 'happy' to pay £14,500 as it was ex motability and therefore properly maintained ! It's doing 55mpg and has a huge cargo carrying space with the rear seats folded flat and I'd recommend anyone to bite your arm off for your one !
Probably stating the obvious, but it was nicer watching the vids back to back as it happened 😁 Love the channel, nobody could work together and present it as well as you two.
Great explanation from Chris regarding the load on the crankshaft versus the camshaft bearings. well done guys. fastest finger wins, pity I am not in the UK.
Hi Rob and Chris, what a result, very tidy, reasonable priced vehicle for someone and a great profit for you guy's. That transport cost was super reasonable eh.! Alex.
Its the extended oil change intervals thats killing these modern diesels. Add in regens ,oil dilution. short driving cycles. Oil and filter every 5000 miles. Very cheap insurance.
Another comprehensive repair carried out by craftsman with an eye for detail. Excellent replacement crank etc. etc. This new project will give a customer many years of trouble free motoring, subject to regular servicing. Excellent.
that profit was well deserved, Rob and Chris. And Rob, lesser sellers would have left those rear discs. You didn't because Salvage rebuilds go that extra yard. Top video and work, guys. Much respect- Kenny
little tip if you ever do brakes on a vauxhall with an electronic handbrake make sure the wheels are chocked as when you turn the wheel your fixing it will take the handbrake off
Love you work , honesty and attention to detail. It’s not about maintaining your profit , it’s doing things right. Perhaps you should have put it up closer to 12k This series was great as all the episode were close together Keep up the good work and be careful you may give mechanics a good name :-))
Always good to see you boys making some decent wedge , after all , you take the risks . Makes up for the times when you have got stung Rob , see you on the next one
£9k is the biggest bargain you’ve sold in a while (and there’s been plenty to choose from). I reckon you could sell this 1,000 times at that price. Cracking car for someone. Would love to bring it back to Glasgow
A great video and I could even hear Chris. Loved the in car view as you were driving. A great price considering the service history is unknown. (That could explain a lot.) Enjoyed the back to back videos and the quick turn around. This is the sort of vehicle which I would consider owning if it was easily available in Australia.
Really fantastic job guys! Good on you to pick up about the discs and do that at same time. That poor car never had a touch of servicing so well deserved profit bringing it back to life. Also video editing getting better every time Rob - 2x camera setup on road trip worked great 👍🏻
Lo lads, Ye earned yer money. I've seen loads of these vehicles converted to disabled persons transport. You have to ask the question when these car/vans are sold they are normally sold with a service plan. Anyways well done and thanks for the vid.
The engine is sounding sweet and no more smoke now the exhaust is clear. Chris did well with rebuilding the engine and you two as a team put it back in. That was well spotted with those brake discs and pads Rob. This car is now looking good after a good clean inside and out. It will be a very nice car for someone at a very nice price with a good profit for you both. Thanks for an interesting series Rob and Chris another one saved. 👍👍
Rob, the 2 different views on the drive was good, it's good to try new stuff, and the voloume wasn't that bad, not to the point where you couldn't hear. Keep up the good work
Good evening Rob and Chris, what a lovely result, the car looks like new. I’m really pleased that you and Chris will make a nice profit. It’s really is amazing that it may not have ever had a service in this day and age. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
Someone will've already said this, but CDVs (car derived vans) are allowed to run at 70mph on motorways in the UK. That's the reason the new models always appear as cars (Berlingos, Partners, Combos, etc...) before the vans are available to order from dealers. Hope this helps.
The lack of a service history is really a kicker with this one but then it wouldn't have happened had it been serviced so for once I think you're right on the price, a hell of a car for the money and a great profit to boot, well done guys.
Once again, a very interesting video - these have become a staple of my Sunday afternoons now so, thank you both. As an aside, when the Vauxhall badge was pointed out it reminded me of a former colleague's Vauxhall Insignia that had lost its badge - and in the plastic moulding behind you could clearly see the Opel 'flash'! Look forward to the next video.
Very fair price as always. Yes you could easily squeeze 1-2k more but with what it owes you and liking a quick turn around priced very good. Was a great one to watch too.
Great video great price. I hate Lane assist had a vw golf 23 plate for a courtesy car with lane assist scared the life out of me when the wheel tried to take it out of my hand
Mint video 📹 as usual fellas this one has come up lovely should get a good drink 🍸 out of it surprised at Chris missing the small change that was in the cuby hole take care and stay lucky and healthy 👍 looking forward to Wednesday's video 📹 already 😊❤
Nicely saved. Definitely a good reason to get the car service done regularly. You can’t save money because you end up saving more money on a new car or repairs
Great turnaround again boys. You boys virtually give your builds away. Can't commend you enough for that👏 will be a great buy for one of your subscribers.
another cracking video guys and thats a tidy little profit you going to make from it as I'm sure that will fly out the door once up for sale can't wait to see what's next on the channel keep them coming 👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
Well done boys. Bearing in mind what you've done - no pun intended. Sure you could have asked a bit more for it but if you 2 are happy. Sure the new owner will be to.
Nice video guys , i took a personal interest as a partner owner driver ( yes your right they are all the same except badges and outside grill bits and a few other bits😮) and i must admit i was worried when you gave it a test drive and you mentioned smoke but you knew what you was onabout, good honest video and you do yourselves proud every time, as a Northener i allways imagined you guys with Southern accents were a bit sharp but you do give the motor trade a good name and well done .
I bought some Jennychem S101 and their extra special TFR using your discount code, so thank you. I have used the S101 and have found it to be excellent.
Volume was ok Rob. I did not even notice it was new doing that. (imo thats not a bad thing, it's a good thing as it means it worked and was seamless). Do like those motors its crazy how the same thing can be classes as a car, van, motorhome and minibus. It's even more crazy what its classes as depends how you can use it like going to the skip, towing with it etc, etc.
Dam tech, it's a bit harder for us older ones to do this insta thing Rob.... Looks like I might miss this one... But good work lads..... To your usual high standards 😊
My Defender was registered as a van (still driving it here in Cape Town). No one bothered me for driving at 'normal car' speed ever, in fact, they were probably impressed that I could get to 70mph 😁😁
i was thinking you should say 9k absolute minimum, but you definitely wouldn't say more than 8k. happy when you said 9! great little series, not too much not too little in terms of detail, looked after this is 100k of motoring for a family for an extremely good price. thanks again for the videos
What a combo nation you both are great turnaround and really proves that consistent regulat servicing and not the extended ones the manufactures push just doesnt work and also the correct oil really does matter ❤
Hello Rob & Chris, such an interesting series of video's for this "car" (I think it is a van!!) and to see your hard work and effort to get ALL the faults sorted out, so there is a reliable and safe vehicle for some one to buy, and what a very fair price too! Best wishes from Lincolnshire.
🎉Turned out nice again. Car and weather.Rob needing his sunnies 😊 car's a bargain. Bet Chris can recall Castrol GTX was £5 for 5 litres then Mobil 1 came out £15/£20 for 4 litres. 😮
Thats the first time I have recognized somewhere from your videos! I drove over that crazy bridge a few months ago! 4.5h back to Cardiff, not the worst drive in the world!
The speed limit for commercial vehicles Rob is determined by their gross loaded weight, so vans over two metric tonnes are limited to 60 mph on a dual carriageway, 50 mph on a single carriageway road. The ‘Car derived’ vans are classed as cars because you wouldn’t load it to two metric tonnes (normally !). MPV’s that can be vans wouldn’t be loaded like vans so the axle weights are less and brakes do less work..
There is something reassuring about a Salvage Rebuilds video, no bodging, no BS, its just honest and informative. Well done
Yes, and very well produced.
Totally agree and high standards of workmanship
Yep I would be happy these guys repairing my car.
Guys I’ve said it before, I love how you’re so thorough and leave nothing to chance, you’re a credit to your trade.
I recently bought a 20 plate diesel Combo Life with 18,000 miles on the clock and was 'happy' to pay £14,500 as it was ex motability and therefore properly maintained ! Nearly fainted, and had heart palpitations when you pointed out that Chris had missed some money.
Me too! 😵😂
This is a really educational programme
Well done Chris and Rob
Chris legend 😉👍🧰 both legends gents 👏
Great explanation from Chris regarding the load on the crankshaft versus the camshaft bearings. well done guys. fastest finger wins, pity I am not in the UK.
Hi Rob and Chris, what a result, very tidy, reasonable priced vehicle for someone and a great profit for you guy's. That transport cost was super reasonable eh.! Alex.
The oil, the worn brake disks.. This van never had a single maintenance job before this one.
What a great repair guys, one good engine from two wrecked engines, you don't get more environmentally friendly that that.
little tip if you ever do brakes on a vauxhall with an electronic handbrake make sure the wheels are chocked as when you turn the wheel your fixing it will take the handbrake off
The video turned out very good as always rob Spielberg, your uncle would be proud of you ..
Love you work , honesty and attention to detail.
It’s not about maintaining your profit , it’s doing things right. Perhaps you should have put it up closer to 12k

I love how Rob always describes every car they work on as "little" 🙂
Lo lads, Ye earned yer money. I've seen loads of these vehicles converted to disabled persons transport. You have to ask the question when these car/vans are sold they are normally sold with a service plan. Anyways well done and thanks for the vid.
Nice one guys, another one done and dusted Plus done correctly. 👍👏👏👏
The engine is sounding sweet and no more smoke now the exhaust is clear. Chris did well with rebuilding the engine and you two as a team put it back in. Belting little vehicle, what a great job you two have done. Love the fact that you do not ask the earth for it.
Anyone buying a vehicle from SR-UK can buy with confidence
Well done guys 👏🏼
Agree 100%. I'd certainly not hesitate.
Absolutely superb video Rob and Chris, and a great series on this vehicle. Turned out to be a fantastic result for you both. 😊
Glad you got it mended. Great save gentlemen.
Good evening Rob and Chris, what a lovely result, the car looks like new. I’m really pleased that you and Chris will make a nice profit. It’s really is amazing that it may not have ever had a service in this day and age. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
Stunning little car, perfectly brought back to life by you guys!👍👍👍
Someone will've already said this, but CDVs (car derived vans) are allowed to run at 70mph on motorways in the UK. That's the reason the new models always appear as cars (Berlingos, Partners, Combos, etc...) before the vans are available to order from dealers. Hope this helps.
all vans can do 70mph on a motorway, the restriction is for none CDV over 2 tons on dual & single carriage ways (50 & 60)
Great video ! Thanks Rob and Chris !
Absolute bargain these boys are not greedy that’s what I like about them top lads and totally honest
Great result Rob 😊 As always you’re both very generous with your prices but at the end of the day it’s your business 👍🏻 Well done again 👏🏻
You two got seriously lucky with that hydro locked engine, it’s such a good car, should be asking 11,000 but it’s you car and your business.
Well done
Love seeing a job done back to back and so quick, means I don't forget the cars being worked on :)
The lack of a service history is really a kicker with this one but then it wouldn't have happened had it been serviced so for once I think you're right on the price, a hell of a car for the money and a great profit to boot, well done guys.
You lad are 100% the best that I know
And you will always have lots of viewers 👍☘️🇮🇪
Brilliant video. You’ve earned every penny of the upside.
A very good buy for someone, well done lads 😊
Top class job. A steal at that price. Well done gents.
Very fair price as always. Yes you could easily squeeze 1-2k more but with what it owes you and liking a quick turn around priced very good. Was a great one to watch too.
Fantastic result. That's a fantastic car at a great price. Top work. 👍
Great video great price. I hate Lane assist had a vw golf 23 plate for a courtesy car with lane assist scared the life out of me when the wheel tried to take it out of my hand
