  • In this video, our volunteer Fabio Malaspina shows you how to tie Jake Villwock’s "Roamer” streamer. This is a fly that you can use to target smallmouth, trout, largemouth bass or other species that eat baitfish.
    Materials list:
    Thread: 140 UTC Chartreuse
    Hook: Streamer hook 2/0 down to size 4. I used a Gamakatsu B10S size 4
    Keel: A few wraps of lead wire, I used .020 lead wire size
    Tail: White deer hair fibers, flashabou and/or lateral scale, four grizzly saddle feathers
    Over wing: Chartreuse Laser Dub
    Mid Body: White deer hair fibers and UV Polar Chenille UV pearl
    Front collar: White deer hair fibers reverse tied with flashabou and/or lateral scale
    Throat: Red Krystal flash
    Pectoral fins: Grizzly hen saddle or rubber legs
    Front collar: Four clumps of Laser dub, 2 Chartreuse and 2 White
    Fly tying skill set rating = Intermediate
