this is my favorite fly, it's my go-to for any type of trout. one thing I like about it is that it hasn't become popular yet. I usually tie them with kreelex and I've had most luck with the color gold. I've never seen this method of tying it and i will have to try it out. ive seen them for 30$ for 6 of them at cabelas in Scarborough Maine. great video!!

Great video. Mr Dick Empie was a great guy and this is a great pattern. It has been producing for me for a couple years now.. Thanks for posting this. This pattern is available to purchase at Bass Pro in Foxboro for those that do not tie themselves. They also have a picture of Mr. Empie in the reel case there as well. He sure loved to fly fish.. I have been enjoying tying these up for a while myself. Tight lines.... RIP Mr. Empie. I'm sure he's enjoying the fishing.

Hi Geoff, nice flash fly. I've seen a similar if not the same technique in a saltwater tying magazine using that body braid. Also looks similar to a kreelex., even a meth egg sucker spawn in 3D ( lol. ) Cool technique at any rate and looks like it'll do some damage. Good luck on the striped bass, I know their freshwater cousins love flash in those colors.
