When I read this comment I googled and found out she died before I was born. And I'm shocked. It's pretty amazing that we can all love someone and feel someone's presence so much when someone has been gone our entire lives. I honestly can't believe she wasn't alive in my lifetime. I don't know how to process this.
I used to watch this show all the time on Nick at Nite when I was a preteen (I'm 30 now). My mom would always come into my bedroom and scold me because not only would this show be waaaay past my bedtime, but also because I was laughing so hard at any episode I saw, that it woke up my parents. Any episode I watch of this will never be a dull moment for me.
I grew up watching I love Lucy reruns, and I'm so grateful- seeing such great quality entertainment really helps shape your view on anything furthermore.. I still often prefer tv and movies from the Golden Age... and play Brubeck and Sinatra... like the songs just came out... often daily even! I like modern things too, but especially Lucille Ball is just so amazing and the entire cast too! God Bless them all for putting such effort into creating this show! and the guest stars..... !

My favorite is the sight gag when Lucy and Ethel are baking bread to show the boys they can be old-fashioned home makers. They put too much yeast in, and when Lucy opens the door the loaf expands horizontally right across the kitchen, pinning her to the far wall. How they brought it off in a live show IDK, but it's one of the most unexpected (and Freudian) moments in TV.
I clicked immediately. If you tried to count down every great I Love Lucy moments the countdown would probably go into the hundreds. LOL Sucks that copyright issues prevent some audio. Great list though!
Lucille was a wonderful (and beautiful) woman and was an absolutely amazing comedienne. In reality though, Lucille Ball was a very loving and refined person. She knew what she wanted and stood firm for what she believed was right. It’s hard to believe she passed 30 years ago. And gosh was she a legend. Love you Lucy, I’ll always miss you.
My 3 favorite I Love Lucy Moments are when Lucy is going to have her baby and “The Time Has Come”, The translation scene when Lucy uses counterfeit money, and the episode when Lucy thinks the train is holding a jewel thief on board and keeps pulling the emergency brake cord only to pull it at the right time and the actual thief is caught. I LOVE LUCY❤️
_Agree!_ Lucy's performance for *VITAMEATAVEGAMIN* was Classic! I remember my Mom and Grandma who didn't speak English, bust out laughing as Lucy took first spoonful of that concoction. Also honorable mention, When Lucy learns Spanish to impress her Mother-in-law.
José Arturo Garza I used to watch I Love Lucy in the dorm lobby late at night when I was in college. The first time I saw Ricky tell Little Red Riding Hood in Spanish, I nearly fell out of my chair, I was laughing so hard! "Estaba la grandmamá en la cama! GRRRRNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM!!! Mmm! Not bad!"
I was born in ‘54 so I grew up with I Love Lucy reruns while Lucy still had a prime time TV show on Monday nights. Lucille Ball was a Queen who was nothing like the character she played on TV. She was a smart, serious businesswoman. RIP
The Italian grape stomper was real. She spoke no english and got very angry with Lucy's shenanigans. The fight they got into was real and the crew had to rush to Lucy's defense.
Great memories ! I think #1 was no surprise to any of us. However, the episode where Lucy dresses up as an Indian and attempts to sing the Waters of the Minnetonka should have been on this list as well...THAT was hysterical!!!!
Rochelle Hall I love the look on her face at the end of that one. She looks so in love with Desi. I don’t think that one shot was acting as much as a heartfelt moment.
My fiance and I are planning on having a baby so i was trying to find hilarious Lucy pregnancy moments and I ended up seeing that song and crying hysterically instead.
I watched every I Love Lucy episodes due to my mom’s love of the show growing up. My favorite is the Cuban Pete episode were Lucy and Ricky perform a night club dance
I Love Lucy and I were born just a few months apart! I grew up on her hysterical comedy. The only other person (s) who could make me laugh that hard, was Carol Burnett and her crew!
One of my favorites is the episode where Lucy smuggles a log of cheese onto an airplane (Wrapped in a blanket and disguised as a baby to avoid the shipping cost). A fellow passenger believes the cheese is really a baby. so when Lucy and Ethel get rid of the cheese, the woman asks Lucy what happened to her baby. Lucy responds "I didn't have a baby... it was a piece of cheese" and the woman, of course, screams bloody murder believing Lucy has done away with her baby
There’s a few episodes of Lucy’s that are my favorite. There’s this episode on the Lucy show where Lucille and Vivian are in a bathroom together trying to fix the shower and it is absolutely hilarious, and with Vivian being there with her in it just adds to the hilarity. This other episode is where they’re in a bunk bed together and it is pure genius comedic entertainment. Another one where they are decorating a wedding cake is great too. They made such a good pairing with how they could just play off of each other like that. Those are definitely must see episodes for sure!
My mom grew up watching Lucy and I watched the reruns with her when I was growing up in the '70s and '80s. Even as a kid, I understood a lot of the comedy. Funny then, funny now!
I started putting I Love Lucy on in the morning when I was 14 just for something to watch, and then I actually started paying attention to it, and now it's my favorite show 💖
Every I Love Lucy moment is a classic. A fantastic show that still holds up. My favorite has to be the candy one, I even have Barbies of that episode and it still makes me laugh.
I heard crime was down while new episodes of the I Love Lucy Show aired, everyone must have been watching it. I watched it all the time as a kid on Nick at Night, It's so rare for comedy to still be funny many years later.
lucille ball is such a comedy legend. no one can compare to her. also check out her two other shows the lucy show and here’s lucy. both shows are just as great. they’re both currently on hulu along with i love lucy.
LOVE this show !!! But am I the only one who remembers Rickey saying “Lucy you got some splanning to do” ?? I died when I found out this line was never said 😂😂😂anyone else ? Just me ? Yes 🙃🙃??
Great list. One you didn't mention was when Lucy and Ethel were dressed like Martians trying to get extra money. That was a classic I loved it and they rarely ever show it on TV anymore.
One of the producers of the show thought the Martian episode was so stupid that no one would believe the plot and I think initially he rejected it; however that one is one of my favorites too, it has several classic moments all jam packed into one episode.
I just finished reading Desi Arnaz' biography titled "A Book" written by him and punished in 1976, ten years before he passed away. I just couldn't put it down. I learned so much about him and Lucille Ball. It's a must read if you're a fan of I Love Lucy.
Craig Smith I WANT to read that book. I read Love Lucy lately & loved how she tried to stay classy with the real events of their marriage & she didn’t publish it before her death because she was still worried about being fair to him. I wish more “fans” remembered that
@@aprilwhiteside6337 she also loved Ricky till the she died. Even though they had issues, Rick loved her "I Love Lucy" was not just the title of their tv show. Just a bit of trivia. The interviews with Lucy's daughter are very interesting!!
Geniuses who surrounded themselves with good people. Look at the stage sets when they went to Europe for example. They worked hard and deserved every bit of their success.
i remember when i was in like 6th or 7th grade (?), my social studies teacher would play episodes of i love lucy whenever we had free time because we were covering the 50s. my class loved it
I LOVE when Lucy goes into labor! That's definitely one of my favorites. I love vitameatavegamin, the chocolate factory, when Lucy thought Ricky was going to murder her, when Lucy and Ethel cross dress, when Lucy stops the train over and over, and a million others, but my all-time favorite is the commercials they make for the salad dressing!!! "CANCEL CANCEL!!!!" I hope that episode is on the list!!
Great list of highlights! :DDD. How come some of the I Love Lucy clips were silent? My favorite moments of I Love Lucy are the home video where Lucy (poorly) splices her Western and Little Ricky videos by accident in with Ricky's musical performance on the projector, and then when she tries to sabotage the rehearsal for the Phipps department store commercial. I'm going to the movie theater birthday special on August 6th that's showing 5 colorized episodes. I'm excited! ^^
How can anyone dispute the top three, those are the most memorable moments of the show although the rest well, this show had numerous moments that are so memorable hard to choose. For example, if I were making a list I would add the roadhouse on their way to Hollywood where the owner kept gauging them for money and the beds moving around as trains passed by. Then there was the classic train trip on their way home with Lucy constantly pulling the emergency brake. Again so many moments to choose from this show was one of the great classics of all time.
My very best friend was born on Lucy's birthday. Lucy's favorite flowers----Lilacs, mine too. Lucy and Carol Burnette were best friends. Lucy always called Carol "kid". Lucy always sent flowers to Carol on her birthday, always planned ahead. Lucy died on Carol's birthday. Sure enough, flowers arrived at Carol's house later that day. Lucille Ball is always the queen of comedy and she never took an acting class. How can you not love Lucy. Nicole Kidman nailed this character and put her heart and soul into this new flim Being The Ricardos.
