What a wonderfully thorough and entertaining and educational (even for ME) bunch of clips. Well done!!
+Lucie Luckinbill Well thank you! I am so honored than you liked and enjoyed my video!
Saw you in Pippin in DC, you were fantastic
OMGOSH!! is this REALLY Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill!?!?!?!?? if so, you and your entire family are just the best entertainers ever on the planet!!!! I sincerely wish I were able to see Pippin because I've heard nothing but the most fantastic things about your performance in it! Best Wishes from one of your biggest fans in Ohio!
Lucie Luckinbill i
Lucie Luckinbill You are an awesome lady! I did a biography on your family in college.
I stayed so busy cracking up laughing I likely did not even notice. Lucy brightened our lives everyday.
Lucy was, is and always will be a queen of comedy.....!!!
No one can beat her or replace her even today....!!!
This show never gets old
NEVER.
Seriously my nieces and nephews love it and they're kids!
Ikr, been watching it since I was a very young kid. Still one of the best shows on earth. They just don't make quality shows like that.
No it doesn't. I could watch all 180 episodes and not get bored.
I loved when Lucy ad libbed Desi's pronunciation mistakes. It kept with the character and became a running gag.
You got me watching reruns of I Love Lucy every single day. Now I know what to watch out for even more! ❤️
I am still at a loss for words guys and gals for HALF A MILLION VIEWS on this video! This is not due to me but to your continued support and trust in the work/videos I produce. Thank you!
This isn't a blooper, but in the episode DON JUAN IS SHELVED when Dory Schary was in the room and Ricky too, 2 real life couples were in the scene, Lucielle Ball and Desi Arnez and Vivian Vance and Phil Ober
I grew up watching I love Lucy
I am trying desperately to find the episode Mr and Mrs TV show to show my husband and it seems to be unavailable. Do you have any ideas why?
I just totally adored the show mistakes and all, she and Desi deserved all the awards recognition they can get, there is no one in this world that can actually say, this show could never make it or call it a flop, it is a very unique loving, laughter, up lifting show for people to enjoy WE LOVE LUCY💖💖
I love I love lucy! I watch 3 hours of it every morning! Ive never noticed those before! Finally, I found someone who shares my live for lucy! ❤
Awww LOVE this show💕 There will never be another one like it.
Lucille ball refused to do retakes. she wanted it to go as one fluid shot. she wanted the audiences reaction fresh for the first time seeing it rather than seeing it over and over in retakes
+Kevin Eaton You are correct buddy
Even with those mistakes, I never really noticed them since I thought they were INTENTIONALLY part of the show😊. Those "mistakes", to me, were just part of the charm.😀
Exactly she talked just like any normal person we all make mistakes when we talk but I think this Navigator is a young guy and doesn't understand the show
To it may have been her way of dealing with her problems in the marriage by not doing retakes by secretly fighting with each other when messed up their lines. Trying to work it out in a fun way. I never thought of that before. To lessen the tension between the two. 🤗
Kevin they taped it live - had nothing to do with refusing to do a retake.
I record I Love Lucy every day even though I’ve seen them all 20+ times. I’ve never noticed any of these bloopers. How fun! The best show ever💕
That was fun, they remained so calm when they messed up. It's neat to see their human side.
+Jim Romig Absolutely. It shows how professional they were!
I had picked up on most of these since I have been watching I Love Lucy for over 50 years, but there were still some that were new to me. Still my favorite show to watch when I need a pick me up or just feel like watching something. ❤️
I’m 71 yrs,old love I love Lucy an desi an all the casts members it’s so good to watch over an over again thank you
+Patricia Crosson I agree it is very very fun to watch. I enjoy the fact that you liked it so much
I am absolutely in awe seeing everyone's love and support on this video! I cannot even fathom the fact of 100,000 views on this video!! You are all the best! Please stay positive and don't forget to BE HOPEFUL!
Who are you addressing
+BadRonald1 Every single person who took time out of their day to watch and support me! That includes you!
rick nineg we need more
+Sayoka Lawful i appreciate it. These vids take a long time and lots of work to make but I enjoy doing them and trying to pump them out regularly. Thanks for watching!
rick nineg I understand I just love this show and watching the bloopers are just as funny as watching the actually show. How about checking thr Lucy Desi comedy hour??
My mother did that. She would talk to me in German and her mother in English and it should have been the other way around. LOL
I always thought that those English-Spanish and Spanish-English were supposed to be there as is😂. Since Ricky s English on the show was not supposed to be perfect, then I thought that scene with the mother was natural. As someone who is American of Polish descent and who is fluent in Polish, I sometimes have my wires crossed in translation.😀.
I thought they were on purpose too.
I can never get enough of the Ricardos and the Mertzes! Thank you! Keep them coming.
I love when Fred does that ROAR !!!! Hilarious !!!!
+Pam Hamilton That roar wasn't that relevant to the blooper but I had to keep it in because it makes me laugh everytime!
One other blooper is when Ricky has friends in from Cuba and he was standing by the fireplace and was translating back and forth, to Lucy, but made the mistake of speaking English to his friends. Then he realizes his mistake and starts laughing. I'm glad they left it in.
Another thing I noticed was that Ricky never lets Lucy in his shows cuz she "can't dance or sing" but she danced beautifully with Van Johnson and sang a duet with Ethel.
Ricky never lets Lucy in his shows cuz she "can't dance or sing" --- I think they did that in order to have stories for the episodes, the fun was in seeing Lucy being sneaky and find weird ways to be on his show lol
I just watched the "Vitameatavegimine" episode and the entire time Lucy was talking doing her script you could just see Desi trying not to laugh
thats one of my favorites, i hav the whole series, but dont really watch the last ones too sad, and one of lucy making that huge loaf of bread, lol, she makes me laugh, my oldest son was born 2 ys to the day she died april 26, 1991
I've never noticed any of these because my eyes are always fixated on the actors lol!
I am a 1976 baby who grew up watching the reruns. To me too, those "bloopers", were unnoticeable as I assumed that were part of the program's charm.😃
That's how it is with most bloopers of all kinds, even on stage. One in this compilation, the crew member at the edge of the foreground, had I seen it without its being pointed out, I wouldn't even have considered a blooper, because why wouldn't there be people in the foreground if it were real life and you were looking at them in a restaurant? It's actually more realistic than the artificial clearing of the stage that we understand as convention. Only the identification of the person as crew makes it a blooper; in other words, it's only a blooper if you have more knowledge than the audience is supposed to have.
When Ricky believed that he was loosing his hair in the scene where Lucy was putting on the solution on his hair, you can see how the black dye was coming down his face, by his left ear. Also in the episode where Lucy is remodeling Fred and Ethel's apartment, they tear up Fred's favorite chair and all the goose feathers are blown everywhere. In the last scene when everything is cleaned up, you still can see one small feather floating around.
again thats season 1, hes only doing season 4
This was absolutely incredible. I've always considered myself an "I Love Lucy" afficionado having seen every episode many many times, but I never noticed most of these bloopers. Thanks so much for posting!
+swerzer Well, I hope you continue watching my content as I have lots of cool vids coming down the road
I enjoyed these clips. I love this show, it is my all-time favorite. Thank you, especially for letting people know that "Ricky" was trying to say "badger", we could never figure that one out.
+Tina Marie Ness My pleasure to be able to teach hardcore Lucy fans something!
I absolutely love this! I have been a fan for decades and it was so much fun to watch and I learned so much! I can’t wait to share with my fellow Lucy fans. Thank you so much!!! 💋🤗♥️
I've noticed quite a few of these. Especially Ethel's middle name changing so much. They did seem to finally stick with May for the rest of the series, though.
Great memories, so glad I was able to enjoy this show on reruns when I stayed home from school. Thanks for making the video, never noticed any of those before.
Just another reason to love the show even more. Thank you for putting this together!
+crazysingingchick No problem! Thanks for watching
I've watched every episode growing up. Thanks for the memories.. Santa Ana California.
Hello Julie, How are you doing?
Just finished purchasing and viewing the entire series on disc. You'd have to look really hard to notice these few mistakes. Goes to show how professional these actors are. Enjoyed this thank you
Rick, your obsession is our treasure. The time spent slowing down the frames, making notes etc hasn't gone unnoticed. Bravo!
+Martin Mangleman So glad you enjoy my content and analysis, Martin!
I miss this show . If I had a bad day at work I would watch the I love lucy show and laugh so hard, and forget why I had a bad day.. Please bring all the shows back. . We need more laughter now days!! Thanks!
Oh and Lucy's stomach when laughing. Didn't notice that.
I did notice her stomach.
She had just had her daughter days before starting the show...
So wonderful. Lucy never goes out of style. Thank you!
+Don No, Thank YOU for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
When Lucy corrected Desi "the wire not finger crossed", it makes the scene look and sound so smooth and natural like a normal real-life conversation.
That's why I suspect it was in the lines that way.
Thanks Rick..I enjoyed it..I Love Lucy is one of my all time favorites too...after all these years I still laugh as if it were the first time I saw it...RIP Sandy..my dear friend and Lucy lover too!
So fantastic!! What a great journey through one of the greatest shows ever on TV!
The fingers and wires crossed was so cute! That could definitely happen translating back and forth.
+Voyagersguidebook very cool moment for sure
I wouldn't be so sure that wasn't scripted that way, just from watching it. Why wouldn't Ricky get a metaphor like that wrong? How do we know the error wasn't on Ricky's part rather than Desi's, i.e. the character's rather than the actor's?
Nick, your videos are a joy to watch, not only for their content, but also for your friendly demeanor. It is obvious that you enjoy these shows and creating these videos as much as we enjoy viewing them. I find it refreshing (and very cool) that a young person like you has looked back in time with fresh eyes to the shows of my generation. Your videos are interesting, and also as entertaining as the original shows. Over 1.2 million views at this point? I'm not surprised.
Thank you for your support and your very kind thoughts!
That's fun. Grew up watching I Love Lucy in the 60's and always wondered about those funny moments. They were pros. One of my favorites in a different season is when they're on an island in Florida and Ricky says "cacanuts" for coconuts and Lucy keeps going with it. The camera moves off them for a moment because I think they're busted up laughing.
+Endless Song her endless making fun of his English was great
So did I, grow up watching it in the sixties before going off to Grade School in the mornings. Also, 'DENNIS THE MENACE', 'ANDY GRIFFITH' and 'LEAVE IT TO BEAVER'. I don't think I learned they were filmed up to a decade before for quite some time!
Absolutely want to see more of these. Everyone of them went right over my head. Including the cameraman on the left of the screen scene surprisingly because it's very obvious.👍
had to hitchhike?
As a person who's watched I Love Lucy over and over for many years, I've caught all those bloopers. Somehow they served to make it more real.
+Ros Bruno Very true. I love the mistakes, so as to make them relatable
Ughh I love this show so much, i love how natural all the characters were and it didn't even seem like everything was scripted it flowed perfectly i could watch this show every day and not get tired of it
You’re absolutely right
WONDERFUL!!! Lucy was a funny lady!!!! She has an interesting history!!!
Just read "The Other Side Of Ethel Mertz/The Story of Vivian Vance" It was a HEART WRENCHING, HAPPY/SAD story of a woman who, plagued by mental illness, self doubt, and a LOVE/HATE relationship with Lucille Ball!!! Vivian had a HECK of a LIFE, and, I think, in the end, FINALLY found the peace that so eluded her the majority of her life! Towards the end of the book, the authors make mention of Lucille's daughter, Lucie paying the $5000 fee to have Vivian's name on the 'Hollywood Walk of Fame! That CHOKED ME UP!!!! That was very kind of Mrs. Luckinbill!
+Liberty GiveMe oh wow! Mrs. Luckinbill is great!
My love for classic sitcoms and films started with Wizard of Oz. I recently started watching I Love Lucy and it's such a brilliant show that I can't stop watching.
There is something so comforting about these oldies and as I get older I appreciate these eras more and more each day.
Modern times are way to screwed up and forgettable that it's a wonderful thing to be able to travel back into time and get lost in these times that are sadly long gone.
I have loved this show since I was a lil girl ❤️ This was fun to watch! Thank you!
+Kris Hedges Well, hopefully you can enjoy these moments anytime with my vids!
I really liked the one where she tried to hide the fact she was laughing. You could really see it by her stomach moving and her shoulders moving. It was really cute. Nice that you could catch all these events that I never noticed.
I've seen all of these episodes countless times as this has been my all-time favorite show since I was little. I have noticed many of these bloopers and it's so enjoyable to have them pointed out and explained. I've often wondered if lines like the badger/buyer, dance/vance, etc ones were ad-libbed. They were such talented pros that they made things seems extremely natural and fresh, so I assumed lines like that were off the cuff. Thanks ao much for making these!
Thank you for finally explaining Desi's mistaken line when he said the word "buyer" instead of "badger," as in "It's very obvious all of you are going to 'buyer' me .." That had me stumped for years! 😂
I remember the bloober: Caroline or Lillian Appleby. I also remember when Lucy corrects the others mistakes. thanks!
I swear I Love Lucy has been my favorite show since I caught it on TV when I was 5 years old and I thought it was a new show lol. I instantly fell in love with Lucille Ball and I must have seen every episode at least 1,000 times. I think I knew about every one of these bloopers and I caught myself wondering if you were going to mention them just before you did. Good job!
Wow this was absolutely GREAT ! Your hard work is a success. Some of these bloopers I never noticed till now
+Steven Patrick Stone Much appreciated!
That was awesome. Such a great TV show! I watch this EVERY morning before work. The entire cast is just amazing. Every reaction, every line is delivered so naturally. I just love this show. Thank you for the bloopers. I never picked up on any, but I love to see how they ad-libbed some of the lines--so incredible.
+Lucy S. They had 4 days of rehearsal and it helped them make the show come out amazingly!
Interesting.
+Lucy S. Thanks Lucy! Great name!!
Haha! And don't think I haven't heard THAT my whole life. :)
I've watched 👀 (and loved) I Love Lucy ❤ since I was little. I have the series on DVD. I practically know the cast members' lines by heart ❤, but, I NEVER noticed any of these bloopers! LOL
LOVE it!!! I've loved Luci for a long time and I only noticed a couple of these bloopers, the others were surprises! Great job narrating, I love your voice and humor!
I did notice the episode where Ethel said that she followed Lucy by driving & I wondered how & when did she learn to drive!! Lmao!!
+Glory Mosby Glad you caught that one. I love the show even though these bloopers are there. So much fun!
rick nineg : Yes indeed! !
It is possible that middle-aged Ethel had, at some points in her life, been a front seat passenger in cars, or had driven a car before that episode. That's not a blooper. Disappearing and reappearing garments, for example, are bloopers... the result of lack of attention to detail producing things the audience shouldn't see or hear.
It is not a blooper. Still, in an early episode Ethel claimed to drive and in a later episode she said she wished she had learn to drive, but she and Fred never owned a car. It is an error in detail.
Irene A. RIght. And as a certain politician would say, it depends on the meaning of "learn" and "drive." I got my driver's license many years ago after taking a course, and I squeaked by. But to be honest, I didn't really learn how to drive until I drove several months, and I think many drivers would admit the same. Possibly that is what Ethel meant, that she wish she had really learned.
But in any event, not a blooper.
That "badger" / "buyer" thing is an actual blooper as Rick notes - despite comments below to the contrary. Lucy's off-handed word or two after he says it was clearly ad-libbed because she's nearly stepping on Desi's next line. The jokes about Ricky's mangled English were always much more obvious and were scripted as laugh lines, with a beat long enough for the audience to react.
OK, I'll take that as an informed observation. You're saying it would've been wasted had it been a gag.
I can't get enough of her. I never knew they were bloopers. I just thought they were part of the script to make it funnier. I'm going to watch it even harder to catch him.
The show is still a classic. My ten-year-old daughter has just discovered it and she loves watching it with me every the morning.
+Deana Rupe So glad the show is a way to bring you two closer together
I love all your videos, to me, they are your homage to all the shows you love so much! Thank You! It's so nice to find someone with similar interest in the classics!
When you watch something over and over it's easy to find mistakes. Lucille Désirée Ball was an actress, comedian, model, film studio executive, and producer. She was best known on her self produced sitcom that you are watching. This was the only show I enjoyed and laughed at when I was a kid. I loved it.
,
She was a fantastic producer! It's thanks to her that Star Trek (original series) Got on air! She was VERY supportive of the show's progressive nature, such as with Uhura holding a bridge position as senior staff with a rank. She pretty much ran Desilu, that Star Trek was involved with.
I love, I love Lucy. Couldn't wait to watch it as a kid. And I still love to watch the reruns when thier on, no matter how much I've seen them 👍😁😘
The William Holden episode, I hadn't realized that was the cameraman. I always thought it was the waiter. Lol. I also laughed at the long pole in the background.
NYC🤘
This isn't a blooper, but at 8:30, Ricky and Lucy, and Dory Schary and Ethel were in the same scene, real life husband and wives, Fred was the only outsider of the group
I did notice the Aunt Sally's one (#7) Also in that very same scene, when they "pass" Aunt Sally's they drive way farther ahead and back up way less until they finally stop. In a different season, there is a real good mess up in the episode Wallpapering the Mertz's apartment, when Lucy says she wants to paint the furniture and reapolsture the old furniture, then Desi corrects her and says "You mean Paint the apartment and Re-apolsture the old furniture" she says YES he says No I didn't hear you. (pardon the spelling)
This one just crossed my feed, Mr. Nineg. Another example of your reverence and love for the good shows from the past. Ten minutes of laughing out loud is always a treat, as are you!
This was soooooo entertaining. I remember every episode, having seem them a hundred times over. I did remember some of those bloopers, but they always made it seem like it was just part of the show. I watch " I Love Lucy" reruns everyday and I will continue to watch them as long as they are keep showing them. So please don't ever take the off the air.
Their love affair was one of those that will go down on history, just like Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra and Anthony, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, just to name a few. I cry Everytime I see their home videos. They were truly deeply and forever I'm love.
The reason they switched Lillian's name to Caroline was because it was too close to Lucille.
I always thought it sounded like Carolyn.
How many were around when I love Lucy was airing for the first time? The week I was born in 1957, the Monday of that week was the episode where Little Rickey Gets A dog. I have an very excellent memory. I was 3 years and 3 months when Lucy Meets The Mustache the last episode of The Lucy and Desi Comedy Hour. I will do trivia at times on my own. How many times were Hazel Pierce or Barbara Pepper used and others. It's fun to spot Lucy Ricardo's furniture in the old b&w episodes of The Andy Griffith Show shot on The Desilu Lot.
Thanks!! Watched I Love Lucy since a kid in the 70's and I never noticed. Such an amazing group of actors!!!
Tears to eyes. Much missed. Thank you very much.
+pamla motown i'm so glad my compilation made you laugh. It is great to see that you enjoy this
At the club isn't a blooper. It makes perfect sense.
I thought the same thing, why can't Ricky say he's gonna work at the club? He said it while he was in the club, so what?
It is a sort of blooper because normally you would just simply say 'he's going to work here', you wouldn't have to say at the club, if you are already there...
You are being way too picky, it's not a blooper, if you were at Disneyland and you called your friend to meet you there and you were with somebody else at the same time and you told them "I just called Tom to meet us at Disneyland" It would make perfect sense. Plus, even if it were a blooper it's not funny enough to mention.
Actually, in that circumstance I am pretty sure I would either say "I just called Tom to meet us here," or "I just called Tom to meet us here at Disneyland." It would be very awkward to say "I just called Tom to meet us at Disneyland" if I am actually at Disneyland already. That sentence makes it sound like neither of us are at Disneyland, but we are both planning to go there to meet up.
It's not awkward and especially because Ricky has a hard time with English anyway, good lord you are thinking way too much about this. It's not even slightly odd for him to say that.
Well done with very pleasant sounding voice-over. Thanks for putting these together. I miss seeing Lucy and you brightened up my world by highlighting her career. I just found her playing PASSWORD 1972? the show with her whole family (not Desi tho'). It was surreal seeing her as a real person. :)
+Allison Beck Thanks Allison for your kind words. Very sweet. I hope you enjoy the content coming soon!
I 've seen those episodes hundreds of times and did not notice some of those bloopers . The ad-libs are fun to watch.
And here I thought I was clever finding 2 of these by myself. I had no idea there were this many. That was fun to watch.
Priceless!!
+AnIroc Cram Im glad you enjoyed it
Regarding the blooper of Ricky’s Hollywood screen test, you missed a vital bit of the blooper. While we CAN see it’s filmed outside their kitchen, we also see that Ricky is on the ground. So what? LOL If you remember the great “washing machine battle” episode (where Lucy & Ethel fight over who should get the washer), they roll it out onto the apartment’s backdoor walkway. That means Lucy & Ricky’s apt is not on the ground floor but this screen test scene shows it is on the ground floor! So this blooper is actually 2 bloopers in one! 🤣
No, it's only one blooper, because that's not supposed to be their apartment in the screen test. You can claim only one continuity error at a time there, since to identify it as one means it's not the other.
I'm literally watching the Ethel's home town episode when I paused it and got sucked into RUclips videos.
Add one subscription. You reminded me of my dad, who was Chinese. He would translate for me and our relatives in Hong Kong, and get mixed up as to who he was speaking to, so he would speak Cantonese to me and English to my cousins. It was a hoot!
Thanks for posting. My all-time gavorite, oops, I mean favorite TV show!
+BlueWaltz42 No problem! It is great to see when people enjoy my content
Didnt have the iconic vitameatavegemin episode when you can see the living room fireplace and clock off set.
cant find it.
link it
That is Season 1
What!? I already saw that episode and didn't notice!
You can also see Lucille Ball standing in the backstage area when they’re looking for Lucy before the show begins. I believe that she’s smoking a cigarette but I’m not certain.
I love love love that the characters actually laugh when there’s a joke shows now don’t laugh even at the funniest jokes
Desi particularly laughs
I LOVE Catching the Bloopers! It makes the Shows more Human! And sometimes more real! I thought Her lips moved funny in the first Blooper! But never knew why! Thank You! This is among the TOP Comedies Ever!
Another blooper from "I Love Lucy" appears in Episode 33 of Season 1 ("Lucy's Schedule), Mrs. Littlefield (the wife of Ricky's nightclub boss) pays a surprise visit to the Ricardo's apartment. She's upset at Lucy for implementing a schedule in order to better budget her time. Mrs. Littlefield begins by saying, "Mrs. Ricardo, what are you trying to do to the wives of America...." She later goes on to say: "If my Alvin sees what he likes here at dinner tonight, I start punching a time clock tomorrow." Of course, she should have said: "If my Alvin LIKES what he SEES...." No one else seems to have caught this blooper, but it was always glaring to me.
The guy that played Dore Schary was Vivian Vance's real life hubby♥️
As an old Movie fan I've seen the real Dore Schary on the TCM channel and not only doesn't he look like Philip Ober, but if they stood next to each other the real Dore would look like a pipsqueak, because he is like half the other guys size, lol.
Oh I didn't know that!! Thank u for letting us know!
Aw
It wasnt a made up person there really was a director name dore schary.
An interesting fact!! I thought it was the real Dore Schary...😁😀😀😀😀
As many times as I have seen all the episodes over and over and over I haven’t caught these bloops, thought they were meant to be they were so believable! Love them! My apsolute fav of all time. ❤️ 😍 I Love Lucy! 😘
Thanks for this...fantastic. I was born in late 1955 & I found it fascinating many episodes were before I was born. My mom looked so much like the gorgeous Lucy. Miss her.
+NYC girl crazy how many episodes they created!
rick nineg and the show really held up through all the decades. Lucy was an original. And Desi way ahead of his time with using 3 cameras.
+NYC girl Absolutely, they are a force that will never be replicated or equaled.
Thank you Rick, Lucy has always been one of my favorite comediennes (she shares 1st place with Carol Burnett). Fun fact: Ricky and Lucy made it possible for the original Star Trek series to happen (Desilu Studios).
And Lucy was more or less, Carol Burnett's mentor and friend.
I Love Lucy, my all time favorite TV show!
+Texas Born Texas Bred Mine tooooo
That was fun! Thanks for sharing this.
So happy you enjoyed it!
They "hid" or "dealt" with these bloopers so well that they were hardly noticed by the shows' loving viewers
Caroline and Lilian Appleby could have been twin sisters. who married brothers.
+Shaden0040 OMG YES! How did I not come up with that! You must have superior theoretical abilities. That explains it. Haha
I'm 44 and in high school a girl friend got me into I Love Lucy. Actually I fell in love with The Lucy Show & Here's Lucy first.
+Michael Shields Very lucky to have found a girl who introduced you to Lucille Ball. Such a great gift
rick nineg: She has actually gone to a Lucy Fest Parade in California. I'm not sure if it's an annual affair? What I fined remarkable was Lucy was 40 years old when she started I Love Lucy!
+Michael Shields Isnt that crazy? She did not look 40
rick nineg: I have a rare figurine of Lucy as Mame. My Dad knew the VP of Distributing for Warner Brothers Canada. At the time promoting "Mame"
It's signed by Lucy. He gave it to me. It's one of a kind.
+Michael Shields You are so lucky. Such a wonderful piece
Man! I so love your voice. It's so soothing. I could hear it for hours when I'm down and depressed. It just picks my spirit up.
Thank you kindly Tony for the wonderful compliment
As a Spanish speaker, you were very perceptive to those bloopers. It IS very difficult sometimes to go back and forth between English and Spanish. 🤩
Some of the bloopers that you pointed out can be easily explained by one thing: lack of continuity. Back in those days, producers and writers didn't think much about reruns, meanwhile home video releases weren't even a thing yet, so many producers and writers felt that viewers and audience wouldn't pay attention to, or even care about continuity - this would explain something like Kurtz's first name being Ted then Barney, or Ethel's ever-changing middle name. So many shows back then had such poor continuity, such as BEWITCHED, I DREAM OF JEANNIE, GREEN ACRES, M*A*S*H, SANFORD AND SON . . . THE ODD COUPLE is perhaps one of the most notorious examples, with at least four different explanations of how Felix and Oscar met (they met on jury duty, they were childhood friends, they met in a bar, they were army buddies).
Yes, that acc'ts for many of these, lack of coordination by the staff. However, when it came to #12, the anniversary date, that was so "lampshaded" that I've got to believe they were making fun of their own usual lack of writing continuity; look at the unnatural emphasis given to the date in both clips.
We had the same thing in the UK, lots of sitcoms went out live and many were never recorded, it cost time & money to do extra takes so no one bothered. BTW We got to see I love Lucy in the early 50's a few months after it was first broadcast in the US
Kudos to the producers for covering up the month on the calendar, though.
Personally, and even to this day, I don't watch these reruns and critique the continuity and whatnot. I just watch these shows for laughs and the excellent performance of the actors. Even with the bloopers pointed out, I still will enjoy the shows without nitpicking the bloopers.
I Love Lucy is my all-time favorite show too! - I knew #4, though I think sometimes when Desi flubbed a line, it was easy for the audience to assume he mixed up his American phrasing as he was sometimes prone to do. :)
+Kaylie Rosenberry His accent makes the whole thing/show awesome!
