I love your idea of just pouring the white paint and then dipping the page to lighten a dark print. I have some very dark green pages that I’ve been stumped about !
I always read a few comments before I post my own and someone wrote once that you have "mad layering skills." They are absolutely right. These are fantastic!!!!!
I just found you! So excited to create a book of leftover paint ... brilliant ... I have just been rolling off or swiping onto loose pages and it’s so difficult to stay organized. That’s one of those ... why didn’t I think of that ideas! Thank you for sharing... love all of your gelli printing ideas too ... thank you for so many suggestions!you have given me so much in this one video ... the plate will come out this afternoon with renewed excitement for creating collage papers! Love how you came back with the white to tone down some of the previously printed papers .... just beautiful!
Thank you, Cathy, and welcome to my channel! I’m very happy to have you here. I’m also glad you enjoyed this video and found it helpful. Have fun creating! 😊😊😊
belive it or not i just pulled mine out. i love to watch you make these pages. i make paper beads and doing the gel prints are great for my beads. keep them pages coming and stay safe
I started my composition book of unwasted paint a couple of years ago and I totally love it. It becomes quite the resource for collage. Of course, that usage makes that composition book very weird to page through because there are pages that are half gone. The brayer cleaning papers are also a wonderful resource. I can't tell you how fortunate I feel that I came across you so long ago! You are always an inspiration and such a positive voice in the whirlwind that is life nowadays. IN fact today I just used some of the "washi" tape you had a lesson about (mixed media morsel #21). So good to hear things like "It doesn't have to be perfect." Of course, you realize that now you are going to have more brayer cleanoff papers, right??? Love you Cat, hope you stay well.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Ellie. I’m thrilled that my videos have been of help to you! LOL, yes, I do realize that and I’m excited for the next session when I get to alter the new ones! 😄
Hi Cat enjoyed watching your great video, your wipe off book is a super idea for using your waste paint. I am always envious when I watch as I haven’t got a gelliplate and I think you can get such amazing looks with them. Maybe one day I will invest in one!! Fascinates me watching the amazing creations you get with the plate, thanks for sharing, take care, Ali xx
I know this was a few months ago, but thought you might be interested .... Nina Ribena and another RUclipsr (can't remember the name) just recently posted videos about monoprinting without a gelli plate, as part of a mixed media challenge. They used things like a piece of Plexiglas, piece of cardboard, and even an old mouse pad! Worth a watch...
Oh! And a few comments down the page here, someone else says they use a plastic kitchen chopping board instead of a gelli plate. I think Nina mentioned that glass ones work as well, or even a thick piece of plastic.
I have to admit that I don't use my gelli plates like I thought I would. I have a perfectionistic side to me that doesn't like the mess until I get into it. Then, I'm like, "WHY, oh, WHY didn't I get this out sooner!" LOL! I do dislike having to search for a place to dry them too. I'm going to start a composition book like this. What a great idea to have all your brayer cleanings and plate cleanings in one book. I have something similar for old paints from art journaling. I shopped your affiliate links and have a few things in my cart. I must say, I love the wood-like contact paper and the butcher plate for mixing paints. Thanks for the tutorial. :)
I’m glad you found this video helpful, Robin. Yes, gelli printing is messy, and to me, it’s worth it! Thank you for shopping in my store - your support is much appreciated! Stay well! 😊
Wow your artistic ability is endless. Another masterclass in creating amazing pieces from almost nothing. Thank you so much for taking all the time and effort and sharing your thoughts, ideas and processes that go into creating these beauties. Xxx
You are so creative and a very good teacher. Are you going to do your May Motivation Journal. I’m following along and can’t wait to see what you’re going to do for May. I did love the jelly plate playtime today. I’m going to get mine out and have a play this weekend. Thanks so much. You stay safe. C
Oh my goodness! I love watching this! Thank you so much for the finishing techniques at the end also! Great, great, great reference video for anyone wanting color, gel print or finishing info!!! Thank you for sharing!
Cat, you must be a mind reader. I was just thinking after your last video that I wish you would do another gelli printing session with us 😊. I would love to see you doodle some of those circles left from the large bubble wrap print you pulled. Thanks so much for brightening our days.
Thanks for making this video. It's such a good reminder that sometimes you need to let your creativity out even if you don't have a specific project in mind. I love that you used matte medium to seal the neocolors. Great technique!
Beautiful prints, Cat! I always love your videos, especially the gel printing ones. Your mixed media morsels videos led me to the world of gel printing to begin with. Thank you!
Cat you are really really awesome and amazing. I really really love 💕 every single one of those prints. It’s very very useful and helpful watching you create them all. I’m doing Adult colouring pages at the minute, and I’m going to use them in the same way. Thank you so much and stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I am so glad I watched until the very, very end! Love how you decorated that one page. I enjoyed the entire video, but the part that was the most helpful was seeing all the tools and stamps you used. Awesome!
So may great ideas, now let's see if I can remember them when I go to geli plate. Wonderful idea for using the color wheel, I am so color challenge at times. Thanks for another useable RUclips video!
I got one of my own gel plates out this week to play, and was so disappointed. All the prints were just blah! The paper kept sticking to the plate and disintegrating, and I could not pick up all the paint. So your video is perfect timing. I am going to give it another go, using your tips and techniques.. Oh, and the green bubble wrap print at 32:00 reminds me of little Brussels sprouts.
Thank you! I’m not sure about your question, but if it is about what you can do with the prints, they can be used as backgrounds for mixed media projects, torn into pieces and used for collage, used for greeting cards, as pages in a junk journal, etc. 😊
I could watch you for hours just on the gel plate. Always a magical adventure. TFS
Thanks so much, Carlotta! 😊
FUN, fun, and more fun!!!! What you did in the end to further embellish that one sheet mas so genius!!!! Looks fabulous!!! Thanks!!!
Thanks, Nancy! 😊
Watching Cat Hand do her magic is a sight to behold. Think I’ll pull out my gelli plate. 💕
I love your idea of just pouring the white paint and then dipping the page to lighten a dark print. I have some very dark green pages that I’ve been stumped about !
Thanks, Brenda. You can also dot some white paint in several places on your brayer and then roll it over darker prints. 😊
I always read a few comments before I post my own and someone wrote once that you have "mad layering skills." They are absolutely right. These are fantastic!!!!!
Thanks so much! 😃

Beautiful prints, Cat! I always love your videos, especially the gel printing ones. Your mixed media morsels videos led me to the world of gel printing to begin with. Thank you!
This was sooo fun to watch. I love my Gel Plate. I just love fingering them, sometimes I get so attached I don’t want to cut them or alter. 😂😂
Thanks, Marsha. You can always scan and print them (laser printer is best) if you don’t want to use the originals. 😊
Cat you are really really awesome and amazing. I really really love 💕 every single one of those prints. It’s very very useful and helpful watching you create them all. I have a wooden coaster like the tool you used at 13:00 timestamp, that I will definitely add to my Gelli printing session. Genius!
Super helpful!
Thanks, Lisa! 😊
Your printing is an INSPIRATION!!! Thank you for sharing!!! ❤🥰❤
Is it possible to get good gel prints with cheap craft paint? Your prints are awesome. So interesting to watch how you come up with different combos.
Yes, you absolutely can - that’s what I use most the time. I just decided to use the Liquitex Basics this time. 😃
So vibrant!
Bummer! I hope your next session is more fun for you, Frances. Yes, they do resemble Brussels sprouts! 😆
I love
Thank you for sharing these amazing prints!
Amazing work!
LOVE this !!
Me encanta! Y se ve súper divertido de hacer! 😃
Que utilizas de base, para poder pintar.? Gracias
Thank you! I’m not sure about your question, but if it is about what you can do with the prints, they can be used as backgrounds for mixed media projects, torn into pieces and used for collage, used for greeting cards, as pages in a junk journal, etc. 😊
Cat Hand my question was about the platform of where you make the mixes. What’s the name of the base? Thank you ver y much. 😁
It is a gel printing plate. Gelli Arts makes the one I was using. There are also some plates made by Gel Press. 😊
Cat Hand thank you very much! 😘
Beautiful! On the new ones, what paper did you use? Was it a combination of newsprint and printer paper? Loved watching you create!
Thanks, Lisa! Yes, printer paper and newsprint. 😊
Tsk! Still no dancing 😉😂❤️
Oh I love the button stamp idea. I have a huge collection of buttons.
Now you’ve got me talking Imma never gunna shut-up😂 Have you used glitter paint on the gel plate or do you think it will ruin it/cut it?
😂 I’ve used metallic paints, but not glitter paint. Maybe a RUclips search will give you some answers on that. 😊
