A handy tip is to make yourself a little handle on the back of your texture plates, by folding some masking tape in the middle, then sticking the edges down on the back of the plate. Makes it nice & easy to pick up the plate from the Gelli plate.
WOW!!! 🤯 This is such a great tutorial! Thank you for sharing! I really enjoyed watching! I’m going to create some homemade texture plates as a result of watching this!
Just what i was looking for! I am "itching" to try so many different things for texture. And yes, you don't have to spend a bundle. Thank you so much for your great video and showing all the results of each plate.
Thank you for some wonderful ideas for reusing regular items that might otherwise go straight into the trash. So cost effectively and lessening our footprint. Other things are I’ve found around the house for texture - legos of different sizes, jars with embossed pattern on the glass, ceramic tile backing, woven baskets. So much fun to discover these hidden texture treasures!
Hello! I just love your videos. I've been watching all of them on my television which means I can't leave you any comments or thumbs up. So....I'm on my computer now and I'm going back to "fix" that. You have wonderful techniques that are well explained and I love how you show actual samples at the end of you making cards or other items that uses the paper or fabric that you have embellished. Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to your videos with pleasure. (Peg)
Thankyou - You're the best! I watch a lot of YT on my television and it always annoys me that I can't leave comments (I have to make a mental note to do so on my laptop/phone at a later date!)
This was one of the most helpful gel plate videos I have watched! I love creating gel prints for card bases and layering large die cut on top - I have subscribed to your channel and will be checking out your prior videos. Keep up the great content!!
Love these ideas. Will definitely try some. I also cut out die cuts from foam (I stick 2 x layers together to ensure it’s well-raised from the background) to make stamps from my dies.
i have used all except for the straws - i love the straws - Also what i did was purchase a Paint Roller from the Dollar Tree - empty toilet paper rolls fit on it Perfectly - so i wrapped the rolls with - aluminum foil - plastic wrap - twine - Fun Foam in ABCs - 123x & Shpaes - rubber bands - texture plates also sold at the Dollar Tree - but another idea for your cardboard is Water Bottle Caps - that makes wonderful circles - thank you Teresa - oops i had to come back and add Bubble Wrap!!
Love this tutorial. Never used a gel plate before but will definately get one now to try this technique. Thank you for sharing. Judy from South Australia.
Thank you so much Teresa, I really really enjoyed watching you creating and using these incredible handmade texture plate’s, I really really love ❤️ all those print’s but my favourites are the geometric patterns and I can’t wait to try these ideas for myself. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I have some I made a couple years ago. I folded some paper into origami birds, glued them down , then glued down some rice so that it looked like they were eating birdseed. If it's flat enough to be glued down then it's fair game for a texture plate.
Nice idea. I thought you would lay out the yarn in a random pattern but your version is stunning. My favorite is fabric. Some of your plates might last longer with a couple layers of a hardening medium or gesso (painted or sprayed), especially the straws. All the various types of pasta, peas, beans, legumes, feathers, silk flowers and leaves can make interesting templates too, again a gesso or something to make them waterproof and protect them from breaking should help them last longer.
Hi Cheryl, I coated pressed leaves, etc. with gloss gel medium and used those to do printing on my gel plate and it worked beautifully. Can you imagine the messy crumbly stuff stuck to my gel plate if I hadn't coated them first? Lol... Of course fresh is always best but I wanted to see if it would work. Now, in Feb. I'll be able to do botanical prints! I have never tried silk flowers. Do they look fairly real when you print them??
Lovely Teresa, favourites were the fabric and foil, and yarn actually. I think they'd all work really well with the Lavinia Stamps cards I'm doing at the moment ❤️
I watched this video and love texture plates so have made all of them except going to buy paper straws tomorrow it was favorite, the yarn design was as Teresa said that most work but well worth the time, use it as therapy! Teresa you are a very good presenter a clear communicator of each step, simple said so no distraction, as I have seen in others, too much chatter when I am trying to write down and follow at same time Thank you
Thank you for your comments. So glad you enjoy my videos and find them easy to follow. It is always my aim to keep things clear and simple and it is good to know I am achieving that 😊
Those are awesome! I just saw Carole's video (Carole's Recrafted Boutique) where she made some texture plates and linked to your video. I love your use of household found objects, I'm always trying to use what I already have and keep it out of the landfill. I've made a few of my own before, but you take it to another level--I'm going to make one with straws for sure! Great ideas, gorgeous prints; thanks for sharing. Take care!

Great idea!
I use duct tape as it holds up a bit better 👍🏼💡😎
I love all of these but the coolest is the string plate! That in it's self is a little piece of "quick art"!
They are impressive. Shall have a go at some of these.
WOW!!! 🤯 This is such a great tutorial! Thank you for sharing! I really enjoyed watching! I’m going to create some homemade texture plates as a result of watching this!

Truly love the straws, the linen cloth and the string plates!!
Thanks so much!
I used my embossing folders to make texture plates on cardstock. They worked great. Also used craft foam to make homemade stamps for gel plate.
I agree - embossing folders work well and I have used them before as well as foam stamps.
same here!
All these texture plates are awesome but i especially like the one of tin foil. Wow!
Me too😍
Thank you for sharing your techniques. Will try to make ❤❤❤❤
Love your texture plates! Admire your patience with the yarn plate, not so sure I can accomplish that lol but I might try bc I do like the look.😊

Thank you. Very good techniques
Such a good idea that can be produced without breaking the budget x
Exactly, and if it saves a few things from going to landfill, then that's even better!
Absolutely magical Thankyiu !!!
