Oil Pastel Resist on a Gel Plate | More experimenting

- I heard you can do an oil pastel resist on a gel plate so I decided to do an experiment. I didn't plan a design so I'm not happy with the finished papers. But it was more of an experience of doing and seeing what was possible. This could be a nice way to add a drawing to a gel print.
While doing this experiment I got another idea and tried that towards the end of this video. Those papers were more pleasing to me and I will definitely use them in a future collage.

Such fun to experiment, the gel plate seems endless in its varied applications. I always find the roll off paper interesting!
I save them frequently. In this case because I only did one pass over the paint when I cleaned the brayer off on the paper it made a nice pattern. Thanks for your comment.

Love them!! When I work with my gel plate, I spend hours making papers. They are so much fun. Until I have to organize them..lol Thank you for sharing the great ideas!!
So true! I hate organizing them.
I have started something I think is going to help. I bought 5 large clear containers around18" x 24" may be and I made a divider and taped it to the middle inside the box and then sort them by dominant color I have Black/White..... Red/Orange& Yellow.... Blue/Green....... Purple/Pink ....Black/White and that is helping already, indfact I just finished it up. I wire the color names on all sides of the box so that way I never have to think about which way they get put away. I just laid them all open and sorted them. I have probably 1000 and it didn't take long doing it. It was driving me nuts...lol@@SusanCliftonArtist

How is this rice paper to be used as collagepaper on a canvas, compared to Deli-paper for instance?
When I use the rice paper on canvas or even on wood I like the thinness of the paper. The edges don't make ridges. So it blends better. I use the deli paper over other papers so I get the colors from the under papers coming through the transparent parts. It help me add contrast where I think I need it.

I don't think so. I haven't seen anyone try that.
