The glass bowl print reminds me of an under water scene. I could watch you do this all day. I am glad you kept the video long so that we could enjoy it all!! ~Kari
+JokersSoul 69 Yes, it reminded me of that, too! The main reason the video is long is that I just couldn't stop!! LOL! I'm glad you enjoyed it, Kari. Thanks, as always, for watching! :)
Wow! What a wealth of knowledge in your video. I have learnt so much. I love everything you do Cat. Thank you so very much for all you share and teach.
A beautiful lesson in Gelli printing! You are so fantastic with color combinations! Next week I hope to be print obsessed with the grandkids. Maybe the 8 yr old can video tape!
Cat I love watching you play on the gelli plate. Your gelli videos were the first I watched and I just love how you mix your colors and then what you do with your pages later. You are such an inspiration and a wonderful artist. You really didn't have a bad print. That's amazing! and you have some spectacular prints. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them. Cheers!
+Cat Hand You are my inspiration! so full of ideas and the designs are so beautiful and unique...just love it! where can buy the jello mould? I stay in down under.
+tiffiny boon Thank you Tiffiny. I got the jello mold at a yard sale. You might something similar at a thrift store or even online. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
I love the yard sale finds! The foam stamps are fun to use too. Hey, I take a piece of tape and attach an inch (or so) make a little loop with some more and then attach the rest to the back of the foam stamp/cardboard stamps to make a "handle." Well, that was probably very unclear. Great fun as always, Cat
You got some great prints there Cat. I always glean some good ideas from you so thanks very much for sharing your play session with us. I'm envious of your stencil collection. Must go out shopping LOL - Lynn X
Thank you, Lynn - glad you enjoyed my gelli printing play. Yeah, I love stencils - it might be an addiction, LOL! I find a lot of them on Amazon, and I recently found several Dylusions and Dina Wakely stencils at Tuesday Morning for really good prices! TFW! 😊 xo
Your prints are so beautiful!! I recently made a gelli plate and spent a whole day playing!! lol! Now I'm ready to do some more! When I did my birdies for my mixed media morsels page....I had some gelli prints to make little birds..yay! lol! I was thrilled! Thanks for the inspiration again! Hugs!
+mskaykrafts Aww, thanks Claudene! I'm so glad you made a gelli plate to play with! It really is fun, isn't it?? Yes, it's very exciting to have prints ready and waiting for art journal fodder! Hugs to you, too, my friend! Thanks for watching! :)
These are fantastic, Cat! I learned a lot about layering and rolling off colors; I must remember to have extra paper set aside for this. My daughter surprised me yesterday with a round Gelli plate as well as the two packs of different little forms, and I'm so excited to dig in! I did my first ones late last night and wanted to keep going, but it was just too late. I can see how you sat there for a couple of hours doing yours, it's so fun!
+iamdawt Yes, it is so addicting! You will really enjoy it, I'm sure! And remember, there will most likely be prints you don't like, but don't throw them out - put more layers on until you like them. :) Have fun!
Cat, I have to tell ya, you are one of the most talented, imaginative artisan that I've seen on RUclips. Every video of yours that I watch I am so inspired and you never disappoint! Thank you so much, I am learning to use your techniques especially MMM. Now, of course, I need a Gelli plate and a grip-o-stencils. I remain a loyal fan.
Thank you so much Judee, for these lovely comments! It's very rewarding to know that my videos have inspired you! I'm so glad you're enjoying the MMM series, too! Yes, I agree, you NEED a gelli plate and a few stencils. That gelli plate has been one of my favorite art-related purchases! And don't forget all the fun things you can find around the house for texture, too! 😉 As always, thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. 😊
50 minutes of pure fascination!! Wow!! Loved all these Gelli Plate samples!! This is such a super neat technique....and I really need to get my own Gelli Plates and acrylic paints out again! Thanks for sharing!! ☺
Love how you are doing a single color at a time. I would do several colors at a time and just print over and over until I get it where I liked it but I love how you are layering your colors and patterns one at a time also.
Loved watching you play. I have never used magazine pages so that is going to be new and fun for me. Your stencil collection is amazing and I am trying really hard not to be jealous...lol. Great selection of new found objects to try. Really liked the new music you chose. I also just got a 4 inch round and need to try it out. And as always your color selections are so right on. Your pages turned out so pretty and I am so looking forward to your upcoming videos using these prints.
+PamlicoLady Thanks - so happy you liked it! Yes, I love using magazine pages on my gelli plate, but you do have to be careful when you pull them off the plate. I've been collecting my stencils for quite a while, LOL. Glad you enjoyed the new music (nice of you to notice!) I was getting tired of the other music, so I figured you all might be tired of it, too. I'll still use some of the older tunes in my videos, but it's fun to have something different from time to time. I'll probably film when I used that little round plate, so stay tuned! TFW! :)
Your yard sale finds worked great....very cool! I love when you do the freeze frame so we can get a good look at the design you just pulled. So many videos leave me frustrated because people forget they're going to be speeding the video up, and we don't ever get a good look at how the prints came out. So thank you! :) The bottom of that bowl makes a pretty flower, but also on the first print you showed from it, it reminds me of some organism that you might find in the ocean. And the jello mold with the pinwheel in the middle was really cool too.
+Lori H Hi Lori, yes, those yard sale finds were fun - and it was my first time trying them out, so that's always fun, seeing what they will do. I'm glad you enjoyed the freeze frames. I didn't do it on every one, because I knew I was going to show them all at the end, but I felt since I was speeding things up, you all should get a couple of seconds to see some of the prints right off the plate. Glad you enjoyed it - TFW! :)
This must be my favorite gelli print video ever....most have some great and many so so results, but yours are all soooo cool. Really fun to watch. Now I have to get myself a gelli plate. Thanks for inspiring and giving so many great tips and fun ideas. Loved watching you work, Cat.TFS
+Ina Solsbery Aww, thank you Ina - that's such a nice thing to say! I'm so glad you enjoyed watching it. If you get a gelli plate (and I hope you do!) be forewarned that it is very addicting! Once you start, you won't want to stop! :D Have fun!
+carol m Thanks so much Carol. Yeah, that bowl did make a cool-looking print. It didn't stamp very well, though - the bottom is just a tad concave (which is why I turned it over and pressed the paper on top to get the stamped image.) Thank you for watching! :)
Lots of beautiful pages and future art. Loved all of them...even the ones that were just clean up pages. I'm easy. lol It's so cool to see all of the designs you can get from the prints. TFS :-)
I have just ordered my first Gelli plate and am watching videos to get ideas for when it arrives. Yours is the most fun and inventive I have come across....love everything you have done. Looking for bowls with fancy bottoms and saving magazines. What next I ask myself. Thank you SO much for your amazing inspirational videos xx
Oh boy, you're in for a treat - Gelli plates are a ton o' fun! I'm glad you enjoyed my video. Just remember, if you're not happy with a print, keep adding more layers until you like it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 🙂
Hello Cat :) Beautiful papers :) Makes me want to get out my gelli plate again :) Love how you doodle on them too :) tfs, and I hope you have an Outstanding day :) amy
They all turned out so cool. I really love the ones made with the jello mold and the bowl. So cool!! I get started with my gelli plate and then I don't know when to stop, so addictive lol thanks for sharing your awesome prints!!!
+Cheri Peeples Thanks Cheri. I liked those, too. It's always fun finding a new texture item, then trying it out to see what it will do! I know what you mean, I never want to stop either! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks, as always, for watching! :)
I have that same glass ashtray. I also pushed the moldable blue blocks into it to make a stamp for printing, but I like this effect much better. Thanks for the video.
Hi Cat! I've been using those fruit and veg bags for years..I used them on my art quilts, my mixed media, scuplture..you name it. I've even bought melons simply because the color and the weave of the bag was really nice!! LOL ...I LOVE you gelli prints..thanks so much for sharing. Margaret
"Gelli good time" . . .you have a clever way with words. I think that glass bowl at the beginning is one of the most genius found tools I've ever seen used in gelli printing.
Cat, I love gelli printing with you (by video). Could you do a set of videos showing what you do with the gelli prints after you create them and they have dried. How do you decide how to turn them into journal pages and other things? Thanks.
I love your Gelli play, I was so inspired by your earlier video I made a Gelli plate and have had lots of fun making prints that I am now using in my Mixed Media Morsels. Thanks for the details on the stencils too.
Thanks, Jo-Anne! I'm so glad you were inspired by my video to make a gelli plate and start having some fun monoprinting! It's so great to have painted papers ready to go when you need them. Thank you for watching! 😊
+Cat Hand , Now I have the perfect project for them with the MMM 11, and I had been thinking of something similar to mmm 11, but weaving the strips ... shame this inspiration comes at the start of the workday, not in my craft room.
I use my prints all the time - even down to the little scraps! 😃 I use them often as backgrounds - check out this playlist of rolodex cards I have altered: ruclips.net/p/PLzaNcrENNXOx3kuLl4LHOpUrBWAYbnqPf
Oh, and speaking of little scraps, I used a LOT of tiny gelli print scraps, last year, to make some fun scrap tapes! You can view that video here: ruclips.net/video/av3t14CgYyo/видео.html
Thanks so much, Evy. I'm so glad you found it helpful. I also did a 2-part Gelli Printing Basics video that you might enjoy - here's a link to Part 1: ruclips.net/video/xuXvp3dzb-4/видео.html 😊
I love watching you play on the Gelli plate and find you so inspiring😀. Looking at things in the store and at home now with new eyes LoL - always looking for a new pattern! Tfs, Nina.
Cat, you make the most Beautiful Gelli prints and then when you add the doodling they are just Awesome! I do get lucky every so often that I get one I really like that I make. I just need to think about the colors more when mixing. Love your video's.
having a new boiler fitted today after six weeks with no heating or hot water and i have to stay in the kitchen while the man is working his magic, so i am making some sequin hearts and needed a good video to watch and low and behold there you were. So a big big thank you as you have kept me well entertained for a hour. Off to watch mmm11. tfs love and big hugs Caroline xxx
+Caroline Withington Holy cow, that's a long time without heat or hot water! You're a stronger woman than me! Happy to have kept you company! Thanks for watching! :)
Truly enjoyed this video. Just tried my gelli plate for the first time, but I didn't have all stencils and bubble wrap at the time. Next time I will. They really make a big difference.thanks for sharing.
Hi, I really like the way you seem to go on a journey with colors. I don't know if you know where you are going to end but I like the way you just explore and explore until you like where your color journey takes you. Thank you so much for sharing.
+GameGirlAZ D Thanks, Glenda. I really don't know what colors I'll be choosing - I just have them all near me and then I go! And yes, gelli printing is all about layering until you're happy with it. TFW! 😊
loved this video! thank you!! great ideas for stamps and textures. I didn't know it was normal for the plates to not be clear anymore-i thought I was ruining it. Lol. can't wait to try some of your ideas :)
This is so addictive. My problem is that I start to run out of drying space. I like your idea of using magazine pages. You made some beautiful art. TFS.
I like the black & white using the potato bag pieces. It will look good no matter what colors you add--red, gold, teal? Orange with black cats for Halloween & black trees?
Thank you for the great ideas. I just used mine for the first time last night. Now i am going around looking for lids and shapes i can find in the house.
+MamaaaPerdue Hello and welcome to my channel! So nice of Cali to send you over and I'm glad you enjoyed my video! Thank you for watching, commenting and subscribing. :)
Thank you again. My Gelli Plate just came in today. The biggest problem I have is room. I have very little work space to play in. I am just going to get a box and pilie a lot of stuff on my work table in the box and get it out of my way, so I can play.
Joyce, that is exactly what I do, too! Just clear your workspace and make room for gelli time! When I get ready to make gelli prints, I also set up a card table for some extra tabletop space. Have fun!!! 😊
+Karin Carter Thanks, Karen -- and that's what I did, too - played to my heart's content! :) So glad to keep you company and also glad you enjoyed it! TFW! :)
Fantastic work, thank you for the great inspiration, and share it with us! May I ask you something. I am looking for to buy some stencils, but I do not know the store. I am in Europe, but I would like to get some like you have, probably it from USA retail-shop, or Internet like Amazon? I love abstract stencils. I work with teens, and like to show your Art style as example. Could you share me some links? I will appreciate.
Thank you, Eliane. 😊 I have purchased most of my stencils online at Amazon. I’ve also purchased some from craft stores and online at Joggles.com. You can find some pics of my art on my Instagram page: cat_hand
Hi - just started watching your Gelli printing videos. But I missed the explanation about using Gelli printed return address labels in a composition notebooks. What’s the desired result? Btw, I really enjoy your excitement when you pull an especially great print. It’s almost as much fun as when I do it myself ;^). I notice too that you have quite a few stencils. Have you found a source for inexpensive ones yet or am I dreaming? I do find that tag and bujo stencils are about half the price of full-sized stencils since they’re so much smaller.
Thanks, Lynn! I get my stencils from craft stores and online at Amazon. Here's a video that shows how I use the address labels on mini composition books: ruclips.net/video/pqYPfYHcqoo/видео.html
I use my gelli printed papers and labels for lots of projects. Look through the videos on my channel and you will see some of the ways I use them. TFW! 🙂
Where do you get most of your stencils? I have a 6x6 plate. What size stencil should I buy? 6x6 or larger than that? Thanks for your help. Would love to see more videos like this.
I get a lot of my stencils online at Amazon and some in craft stores - Walmart has some as well. 6x6 stencils would work great on a gel plate that size. Here is a playlist of my gelli printing videos: ruclips.net/p/PLzaNcrENNXOzmXOy8gP93DTatl5hFvsVs
I've got all of my supplies! You've really inspired!! Do you use a particular brand beater for these? I'm thinking I might need a different kind. Thanks so much for sharing!
+Scottye Allen Yay! You're gonna have so much fun! I think you're talking about a brayer? Your brayer should be a soft rubber one - you don't have to use any particular brand, but I use a Speedball brayer. 😊
Rofl! Auto check put beater instead of brayer! It tried to do it again!! I made a wild mess back there! I hope I end up with some good ones when dry. Putting the right amount of paint is key! Thank you!
I can watch you do this all day! Then when I go sit down to try myself, I get all stressed out! Why? It’s torn out papers and cheap paint for goodness sakes! Idk what my problem is. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Scottye. Just keep layering the prints and if you're still not happy with them, sit down with some paint and stencils and add some designs - that's what I do. :)
New subscriber and novice to Gel plate. I really enjoyed and was inspired by your work, thank you! Would you share what kind/where to purchase the stencil with the circles with lines going through(kind of looks like skewers)? Thanks in advance.
Hi Shayna, welcome to my channel - I’m very happy to have you here! So glad you enjoyed this video, too! I appreciate you watching, commenting and subscribing to my channel. 😊 The stencil you’re asking about is by Joggles, called Circular Argument. It is sold out on her website, but looks like it is available here: www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/Joggles-CIRCULAR-ARGUMENT-9x12-Stencil-1033763-1033763j?gclid=EAIaIQobChMInsXM3-XU3AIVmo3ICh0RQwPTEAQYBSABEgJK0PD_BwE
Thanks, Suzanne - I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I use my gel prints as backgrounds for art journal pages, cards, canvases, etc. I also tear them into small pieces and use them in my collage pieces. 😊
Hey Cat, great video again! I just love how fearlessly you combine colors, stamps and stencils. What I wanted to ask: are those acrylic paints that you are using? And if yes: aren't you afraid that they might dry on you and ruin the gelli plate? When I watch you, I would like to run off of work and go off printing, printing, printing ... ;-) Greetings from Germany!
Thanks! The gelli plate is made for use with acrylics paints, so no, they won't ruin it at all. It's perfectly fine to allow paint to dry on it and it can be removed by making a print with a very thin coat of paint on the plate (this is commonly called a clean-up print.) And any paint that remains after the clean-up print can be removed with a baby wipe. Thanks for watching! 😊
For a person starting out, what colors of paint should I start out with and is there a particular brand that works better than others. I really enjoyed your video and bought a larger gel press plate.
Hi Ramona - I mostly just use inexpensive acrylic craft paints. You'll have lots of fun with your new gel plate! I will tell you, just like I have told others, gelli printing takes a little getting used to. You'll figure out how much paint to use by trial and error. Also, don’t be surprised if your first prints don’t turn out exactly like you wanted them to, but whatever you do, don't give up. Start by using colors 2 or 3 different shades of one color and you’ll get better prints that don't look muddy. Keep adding layers until you're happy with them, and remember that the ones you really don't like will look great torn into smaller pieces which can be used for collage! Happy creating!! 😊
Cat you truly are the Queen of Gelli Printing. I end up watching these over & over again. Always love how your prints come out. Thanks so much. : )
+JBaum Thanks Janet. Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Wow so cool, Such amazing colours and patterns you have really awesome stencils Cat tfs

It REALLY is, Laura, and you REALLY will have to get one, lol! It's very addicting, too - once you get started you won't want to stop! TFW! 😊
I got halfway through watching this. Had so many ideas buzzing I had to go off and have a gelli printing session of my own. Thank you Cat!!
LOL, glad you were inspired! 😊
Pretty pages, Cat! I saw everything from flowers & leaves to reptile patterns & a window screen. Fun! TFS!

Hi Cat! I've been using those fruit and veg bags for years..I used them on my art quilts, my mixed media, scuplture..you name it. I've even bought melons simply because the color and the weave of the bag was really nice!! LOL ...I LOVE you gelli prints..thanks so much for sharing. Margaret
Oh, what we do for the sake of our art! LOL! Glad you enjoyed the video, TFW! 😊
You could make a cool little journal out of that huge flyer that’s nearly blank on the back!
"Gelli good time" . . .you have a clever way with words. I think that glass bowl at the beginning is one of the most genius found tools I've ever seen used in gelli printing.
+Janet Baker Thanks, Janet - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, that bowl worked out really cool on the gelli plate! :) TFW!
Cat, I love gelli printing with you (by video). Could you do a set of videos showing what you do with the gelli prints after you create them and they have dried. How do you decide how to turn them into journal pages and other things? Thanks.
Thanks, Barbara. Take a look through my videos - there are lots of them showing how I use gelli prints in my art. :)
Cat these turned out so good. I want to get going on my Gelli prints - now I am inspired. Thank You!
Thanks, Dana - glad you are inspired to get your gelli on, lol! Have fun! 😊

+Cat Hand , Now I have the perfect project for them with the MMM 11, and I had been thinking of something similar to mmm 11, but weaving the strips ... shame this inspiration comes at the start of the workday, not in my craft room.
Very cool; I'm learning how to look at things in a whole new way... Thank You!
+Kalinaku Buckingham That's awesome! It's good to do that once in a while, I find... TFW! :)
I like your designs and use of the extra notebook on the side. I would love to see how you use your prints, the finished product.

Brilliant stamping ideas!
Truly enjoyed this video. Just tried my gelli plate for the first time, but I didn't have all stencils and bubble wrap at the time. Next time I will. They really make a big difference.thanks for sharing.
+Judith Frabosilo Thanks Judith. So glad you enjoyed my Gelli play. Yes, stencils and other texture tools really do make some cool prints. Have fun! 😊

I love your gelling prints. Enjoy watching your channel. Corinne
Thanks so much, Corinne 😃
This is so addictive. My problem is that I start to run out of drying space. I like your idea of using magazine pages. You made some beautiful art. TFS.
Yes, yes it IS! 🤣 I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Beautiful papers!!
Thank you Elizabeth and TFW! 😊
+Charlotte phillips My pleasure, Charlotte. It's so much fun, right? And so hard to stop, LOL! Have fun with that gelli plate! :)

It IS fun - hope you enjoy it!
Have fun!!! 😊
love all these!
+Patricia Smith Thank you so much Patricia and thanks for watching! :)

Thank you so much for your inspiration. You are an excellent teacher! What brand is your leaf stencil? It is so pretty.
Thank you for your kind comment, Glenda. :) That leaf stencil is 12x12 made by KaiserCraft - it is called Leaves T604.
I enjoy your videos. what would you use those magazine pages or the labels for? If you collage it onto a page...then what would you do with it?
I started to save the fruit/ veggie mesh bags too! Thanks for all the great ideas ..where do you buy your large stencils?
You're very welcome! I buy stencils from several places, getting many of them online at Amazon. 😊
Cat Hand thank you, very much appreciated! 😊
What do you do with all the prints, so excited I watched so many videos and just got my plate in the mail
Thanks for sharing, very inspiring
Thanks, Suzanne - I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I use my gel prints as backgrounds for art journal pages, cards, canvases, etc. I also tear them into small pieces and use them in my collage pieces. 😊
A lovely candy/small salad dish...
Gorgeous prints, love them all.
Where do you manage to get your big stencils from? I can normally only find small ones.
Thank you! 😊 I get a lot of my stencils online at Amazon. I have several in my store, both large and small. www.amazon.com/shop/cathand
@@CatHand thankyou
Striking results. Do you ever scan any of your monoprints so you can continue using the image after the original is gone?
Thanks, Ember. Yes, I sure do! 😉
Thank you, I picked up some paint at Hobby Lobby yesterday and looking forward tomaking some neat backgrounds.
