Even in this match, Sachin was the second highest scorer and with a strike rate much higher than most others. Shows what a pathetic batting order it was (exception of course being the great Kapil Dev) And that delivery that got out Boon, an absolute peach! 😊
I agree. I started watching cricket in 1985 and most cricketers except Azhar, Kapil, Amarnath, Sidhu and then later Sachin were all useless. They wouldn't find a place in India C in the present era.
Ganguly as 12th man. I wonder why wasn't he given the chance to bat. He was better batsman than shastri and manjrekar. If ganguly started batting in 1991 he would've scored more runs and centuries. Being a good player against spinners he would've been crucial in 1996 semi final vs Lanka.
@@soumenchatterjee35098 I always thought he was quite a handful ..especially in tests..with his ability to generate disconcerting bounce from just short of a length and his stock delivery that angled across the right handed batters.
Young sachin... Wish he remained same till his etirement without injuries...150 100s pakki thi.. Btw he is out on 90s 28 times.. Between 80 and 90 14 times...
If there is one batsman that cannot be relied upon even after he had scored 60 70 runs it is Kris Srikkant. Technically not sound he just survived with the initial blast he gave during the times when the trend was not known. The moment tendulkar arrived in the scene Srikkant had to pack his bags.
Looks like Indian team in early 1990's had better bowlers and all-rounders than in 2000's - 2020's like Kapil dev, Manoj prabhakar who can bowl good Swing,Pace and Bounce
Portly, flabby in a lot of regions, poor fitness, complete lack of awareness (that Srinath runout), what a bad team this was. Tendulkar, Kapil, and Azhar are the exceptions. A word on Dean Jones, what an epitome of professionalism. Lean, fit, and running like a gazelle pushing that extra run all the time.
@@soumenchatterjee35098if I remember correctly the Hero Cup was in 1993…during the 1991-92 Australian tour and World Cup Kapil still bowled at a decent fast medium clip. But by 1994 when india hosted the West Indies he had lost his pace significantly. I guess he retired shortly after.
My father and I have abused him so much 😂...not proud of it ...but he really irritated the hell out of us....get up at 5 am in the morning to watch his tuk tuk...
Manjareker was good player but he got too much deep in technicalities regarding bat speed and foot work... Which hampered his instinctive skills... And batting is mostly abt instincts...
Yeah he belongs to gavaskar vengskar cayegory where people look for techinque than the score, but starting 90s limited over match become the order, there is a limited scope for this genre later laxman Dravid succeed , difference they scored well in addtion to technical excellence
Back in those days, fall of Shastri's wicket was a prize for India..😂
Birds 🐦🐦🐦 playing too
Yes...i heard it from my dad.. Very tuk tuk type player... He was more useful bowler than a batter... But look at young sachin.. Sheer class... ❤❤❤
Yes he wasted overs unnecessarily
Yes as kids we would pray to get Ravi Shastri out so India can move on with scoring rate 😂😂
I felt really happy when he got out
Finally got a perfect video with brilliant picture quality. 👍
Yes 😅

Old habits die hard you see.
Even while watching these old highlights, once Tendulkar is out, I stop watching further.😂
What you did when tendulkar retired ??
Cannot describe in words how PICTURESQUE this ground used to be💕
MAGNIFICENT Footage 🌹
Prabhakar bowling action is good ❤

He had run ins with team management.. attitude issues
Yes. Attitude issues. He was asked to carry drinks as 12th man but he refused saying he's a prince.
He was given one chance in 1992 .Failed and waited 4 years for his return to team in 1996.

Bruce Reid was a very good bowler. Always wondered why he did not have a longer career in the Australian team?
Back injury
His persistent back injury was the reason. So was Mike Whitney.

Its great to hear Sunny gavaskars young voice... Just around the time he retired from first class cricket 🏏
5:30 …the slower ball did Tendulkar in many a time,Hansie Cronje got him in a similar manner a few times as well.

@@syedfayaz2149 he was well past his prime by 1991 , although he was still a force to reckon with!
He played in the 1994 Hero Cup I guess.🤔

Not sure why Kapil and Prabhakar were not given full quota of overs ... atleast they could have put the pressure on the aussies.
