Finally a Split Sleeper video that doesn’t explain it as if your at the shipper for 3 hrs etc. you were on the road and did it. Thanks so much. This worked if your just tired and needed that break or sleep so you can drive again then get your SB time
i feel like if you know nothing about splits this may still be confusing but after studying them heavily through writing and then watching this video it actually makes very good sense. Thanks for the video.
Much love to ya my friend thanks for watching
That is the best Tutorial on the 7-3split I have ever seen. Thank you sir.
Thank you very much
WTF? You just saved my butt. Just started trucking last week and never knew the check mark pair sb stops the duty clock. I've been here for 8 hours in sleeper berth panicking like crazy watching that stupid duty clock run out. Until I hit the button pair sb like you just showed. Bam! 7 hours added back on! Thank you sir!
I’m super happy everything worked out for you my friend
You made that clear, Thanks!
Thank you
I don't know if anyone has told you that you are a godsend for this, thank you!
Thank you very much and let me know if I can help you
BEST EXPLANATION ON RUclips OR ANYWHERE ELSE!!! 🙏🏼❤️🇺🇸❤️🙏🏼
Thank you very much I hope it helps
THANKS MAN you actually showed instead of just explained great vid i learned somthing today, that
split always seemed confusing to me
Glad to help
This really helped me! I watched two other videos that didn’t explain it in an easy way to understand. Thank you! I also work for Melton 😁
I’m happy it worked out and hopefully we run into each other
Now this was the easiest 7/3 split ever.
I finally "Caught"_ on to it by simply watching this basic demonstration learning tool video 📸
Thanks
Agreed 👍
Great breakdown and visual! Being a driver mentor, this is very hard to explain over the phone to a new driver. Thank you for making this excellent video! You are going to help a lot of people with this!
Thank you very much
Great video. Thank you.
Thank you for this video! Very clear
Outstanding job on explaining the 7/3 split👍🏽😎.I’ve watched many videos & they have been so confusing.Thanx brotha & drive safe out there.
Thank you and I hope it helps you. If you need me to cover anything for you just let me know. That’s how I keep putting out helpful videos.
10-4
😊 so helpful keep making these videos your a life saver ❤
Glad to help
This is a blessing, thank you!
Thank you very much for watching
Thank you so much for this!
Glad it worked for you and I hope it will help you out in the future
I have learned quite a few things on RUclips! Thanks!! (Omnitrack Clockwise)
Good informative video. Appreciate it! 🙏
I’ve always heard and read about the split, but have never used it in my 10 years of driving lol 😂 Been looking for this type of demonstration to fully understand it, thanks brother! Keep on truckin 😎 👊🏽
It can definitely be beneficial in the winter when you have it but I’m doing right now at work for several hours tomorrow to get clear. It helps save that 14 hour clock
@@50plustrucker 10-4 👍🏽👍🏽
So basically this rule is to just help you get to your next stop or give you your on duty hours that weren't used. Then it'll be a safer bet to just do a full 10 to get all your hours back. Thanks very informal video
Yes and you will get used to how it work after you start using it regularly
Well done and friendly!! Thank you Sir!!
Thanks for this
Thanks sir.
Excellent presentation!.. made it to my appointment on time cause of this... thank you!
Hell yeah thank you very much
I’ve never understood how to do this. Now I do. I just had a tire blowout about 1.5 hours from my destination so I will do this split so I can make it to my delivery in time for the morning. Thanks man!
Good deal brother I sure hope it works out for you if you have any questions just reach out to me
4 min left you running it close. That's what I do keep rolling.
Right on point bro!
Thank you very much
Thank u for this 💓
I hope it helps you in some ways
Very helpful!
Thanks bro I learned something
Glad to hear that my friend I’m happy to help
I appreciate it got full understanding of it
I hope it helps you
I watched a lot of videos on eight and two split the three into split and I didn’t understand a thing and two I watched your video it’s all me a lot I think every student driver out here should watch this video
WOW 🤩 thank you very much
I'm so glad D.O.T FINALLY released something that actually helps us. I wouldn't be surprised if they remove it
Good Evening ,Sir Very Informative!!!
Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate it
To get a "fresh clock" though
You'd need 10 consecutive hours
The 7 would just get you back what you used before the 3 hours
After the 3
@@scottstewart8737 if you drive for 5 hours, take 3 hours off duty, then drive for 4 more hours, and go into sleeper berth for 7 hours, you only gain 5 hours of drive time
If there was a 30 minute pretrip at the beginning, you would also gain 30 minutes of on duty time (not driving)
The split sleeper is a "rolling clock" so to speak, kind of like how your 70 hour clock will roll over after you hit the 8th day, whatever time you had on the first day will roll back into your 70 hours
So you have 2 hours left on your 70, your first day you were on duty for 9.5 hours, after midnight you will have 11.5 hours left on your 70, but to get a "fresh clock" you'd need to take a full 34 hour reset
Same with the split sleeper, you'll gain time back, but only what you used at the beginning, not everything. You can only gain ALL your hours when doing a FULL reset/ rest
@@srjsamsam can I log the 7 hours Off Duty or it has to be Sleeper Berth?
@@EVNL576 the 7 hour minimum has to be sleeper, the shorter break just has to be off duty
I thought you gain all 14 hrs (11 hrs driving) when you do 7/3 or 8/2 split. Thanks for explanation.
No one ever explained it like this to thumbs up
Thank you very much I hope i helped
Nice video i hve a question you can also be in the sleeper for 2 hours and it also gonna stop the clock as you did in this video with the 7/3 ? Just then we have to sleep 8 hours to complete the 8/2 right ?
Yes
Hi ,I dont have the pair sb.option in my lap top, you know what can I do to utilize the split sb. feature in this case?
I don't see what the will pair button does?
the same thing happens when you don't have it selected.
Does this still work if I only have an hour of my 14 hour day left?
You can go 3 hours off duty or sleeper. But you’ll need to do 7 hours, in Sleeper status, in this example, to complete you 3/7 split. Or just do 10 hr break off duty to reset your clock.
Yes you would have to do a 10 hour uninterrupted break to completely reset your clock
As a trucker do you have time to workout during your mandatory rest periods? And what do you do to unwind while on the road?
There’s lots of truck drivers with RUclips page is showing how they exercise and work out during their 10 hour break therefore it’s definitely viable option however I just tend to relax in the truck a.m. manage my other businesses and watch a little TV. Some bring video games to play. The possibilities are endless
Hey, how are you? I have a question about this. I know you know the answer
What kine of GPS do you recommend for trucking?
I have a Garmin and it works okay. Just don’t go cheap
I've been using split for years but since the new rule came and that check box im afraid to use it. My only question is when do you uncheck the box? After the 7hrs or after 10hrs after running off the split?
Never uncheck the box. Once you’re using the split run the regained time out then take a 10.
@@50plustrucker 👍🏼
I got 50min left of 11hour clock...
I got 2 hours left on my 14hour clock...if I go into sleeper birth for 7hours how much time will I have to drive in 7hours?
If I understand you correctly you will only get 50 minutes because it’s all you have remaining in your workday
When do you unclick the will pair SB??
I’ll answer your question in today’s video
43 here, I got 9 more years to retire from my current job.
After I retire im looking into becoming a OTR trucker.
Love your videos👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much and you’ll definitely enjoy it
Can you do a 7/3 Like run your 8 hours then go to sleeper& waiting 7 hours to get time back instead of taking your 30 min break to get rest of your 3 hours ? Then take your remainder of the 3 hours later to finish your 10?
Yes but after you do the 3 hours to finish the 10 you don’t get the full reset so be careful
That is actually an efficient way to do things if you can make it to where you are going in the 3 hours left of driving and know you will be able to take the remaining break before you run out of time. I use that method a lot with the runs I do to avoid city traffic but pickup and deliver on time. The 30 minute break can waste a lot of time in a week. So if you can avoid taking it.
what if you take your 10 hour instead of the 7 hours on sleeper birth?
do you get your 14 back?
You’ll get your full clock reset
ok got it thanks pops🤙🏾
@@jrjose9045 anytime my brother
So you could only do a three hour split you can’t go late or five hours because I’m not sure what time they’re going to finish loading
Stay in sleeper till they are done and see what you have remaining
@@50plustrucker ok thank you
So the 3 hours that you used were counted against your 14 total with the 7. Which is why you didn’t have 14 hours of on duty time until you reached the 10 hours consecutive. This split time sleeper can make your head explode 🤯
That’s not exactly correct with consecutive 10 hours but the splits sleeper is designed to retain unused hours
The 3 hours pauses the 14 hour clock. The only time you lose is the time between the 7 and 3 hour breaks and anything past the second break until you complete another 10 hour break.
Hey I don’t get how you got the 8hours to go to 11
Do you have 11 hours available to work but you can only work eight consecutive hours before you have to take a 30 minute break and after the 30 minute break you can drive the remaining three hours
Yea ok. I just checked that box and a messaged popped up saying I will be in violation for not following the requirements of splitting sleeper berth 🤦🏼♂️😂😂😂😂
That means When your time runs out you must complete your sleep break that’s all
@@50plustrucker it never stopped my 14 hours at all. Idk maybe I’m confused how it works🤦🏼♂️
@@williambabcock642 it should come back after a minimum of 3 hours in sleeper
@@50plustrucker oh ohhh wait! You sir are borderline genius.lol it seems I had to run into negative on my 14 hour first. Just clicked it again to see what happens and it did infact put time back on my clock. Here’s one last question I’m at a shipper in sleeper waiting to be called to a door. If I used the split sleeper to get loaded, could I then go back into sleeper without using up all the time and go back into sleeper once loaded? How would that work? Trying to cheat the system here.lol
@@williambabcock642 I haven’t tried that before
What happens to your 14 when you do a 7/3 split? Wouldn’t your 14 keep runnin while you’re in the sleeper for 3 hours ?
Yes But you get that back when you start running do you wanna clock runs out again you’ll have to take 10 consecutive hours off.
@@50plustrucker ok gotcha. Thanks man. This was golden information
I'm literally parked and in the same type position I gotta get to a load tomorrow and if I take full 10 hours SB, I'm gonna be so tight that I'll be crazy.. So I got 4 and a 1/2 hours tonight yet I can drive.. If I stop now and sleep 7 hours what time am I gonna have gained to get to my drop? I just don't know if I should try to split or go full 10.... And yes I'll agree with the other commenters this is the simplest explanation I have found of it. thanks
@@heavyhitr7696 I’ll need to see your summary to say for sure but you will at least get that 4 hr back
You can be off duty on the 3
Do a pre trip after SB?
Good idea to log at least a short inspection to make sure everything is good to go. Dot does not like to see duty status that goes straight from driving to sb or sb to driving. It indicates that you wake up and take off. Or that you are not logging the duty to match what you actually did.
what part do you take out the will pair sb ? after you a full 14 clock ?
Nothing if you use the full 14
So…always have the box checked?
That’s what I do and teach my students how to do it also
Will pair SB means ?
The system automatically pair the split sleeper. 7/3 sleeper and 8/2 sleeper
You got it backwards
Its the 7/3 spilt
3 hrs stops the clock doesn't add time
7 hrs sleeper adds time
This is what I was looking for. Thank you!
Hi can you answer a question
I’ll try
Lol I figured it out thank you anyways I have learned a lot from your videos...sometimes you just have to slow down and pay attention...
@@tootieevans5774 thank you very much I’m happy to help anyway I can
Thanks
Hey thanks check.me out as well
Done
@@50plustrucker thanks appreciate you greatly
But you still cant drive over 11 hours in a 24 hour period which is stupid
Your opinion on that would change after do you become a driver and drive over the road for a little bit of experience. You’ll see guys driving tired and the mistakes. You’ll see the carnage and death from wrecks and your opinion on sleepy driving and cell phone use while driving will change dramatically.
Time limits are in place because of drivers being forced by companies to drive sleepy. Companies took it vantage of drivers in the past and I have no defense but these laws protect the drivers and the driving public.
@@50plustrucker I get that thats why I pull over and go to sleep for a bit before I keep going
@@hitdice9447 I see what you mean I’m a new driver and was wondering why I only had 3:44 hour of drive time left after taking 8/2 I drove 7:15 hours today
Unhelpful
Thank you
