I thought it was cool that the Remnants inherited Sephiroth's traits. Kadaj got his skill with a sword, Loz got his strength and desperate obsession with Jenova, and Yazoo got his cruelty and arrogance.
@@TheUndyingCrystal Actually, it is a bit of the other way around. Kadaj sums up Sephiroth' hatred and rage (hence why he's the most unstable pshychologically, of all Remnants), Loz sums up Sephiroth' sheer strength and speed, and Yazoo is more about Sephiroth' charisma and aloof demeanor. (It's all sumed up in MANY wikia about the Remnants)
Which explains a lot of things during the movie, but 3 BIG THINGS, all of them being related to Sephiroth' major strengths (weaknesses when it comes to Kadaj):
1-Cloud can't keep up with Loz when it comes to physical strength (ever single confrontation between the two ends up with Cloud being either disarmed or sent flying).
2-Cloud can't truly defeat Yazoo because he's elusive and "unreadable" (impossible for Cloud to read his moves)
3-Cloud only wins against Kadaj because Kadaj, as said earlier, is mentally unstable and it doesn't take much to have him VERY conflicted (remember the "And what if I was a puppet ?").
All of this boils down to explaining why even THIS Sephiroth could never win. It's not ever Sephiroth at his best, and Cloud, just like Tifa said in the movie, has returned to his former strength. SO it's basically a swordmaster versus a Samurai, except the Samurai is drastically weakened.
This was YEARS ahead of it's time in 2006. That's insane to think it was almost 15 YEARS AGO! Cloud and Sephiroth are probably my favorite hero and villain of all time. Revan ranks up there with them but he was both a hero and a villain depending on who you asked.

@@Alex-tc6ok I recently downloaded a phone emulator on my phone and replaid all four disc of legand of dragoon. Was beautiful. Brought back so many memories of being a kid and playing this amazing game. Then I played one more round with cheats for fun.

The complete Fusion Sword is most likely heavier than the Buster Sword, yet Cloud can swing it as fast as Kadaj’s dual katana
The weight difference between the Buster and Fusion sword is probably negligible, especially as one with Cloud's strength.

.... I want this so bad
I remember being so hyped for this movie back in High School. My dad even managed to snag a bootleg copy for me on a CD (with a pretty wonky subtitled fan-translation) before it came out on DVD in the US. I remember my friends and I huddling around his computer and watching it one day. And then I ended up buying both of the DVD editions in the US, and the _Complete_ Blu-Ray a few years later.
It's been years since I've sat down and watched this. I've been replaying the original game before playing _Remake,_ and seeing this pop up in my suggested videos has definitely got me thinking it's time to dig out my Blu-Ray copy and give it a watch again.

bro me too dude, an advent children scenario and a Dirge of Cerberus scenario would be amazing and really bring the anthology together (unless the remake is gonna ignore the spinoffs and stay self-contained, which is fine but the story loses out significantly without Crisis Core.)

There needs to be an "Episode Advent Children" as a DLC for the remake of Final Fantasy VII.
This movie needs to stay as far away from the remake as possible.

I never understood why they had that line in the movie. Cloud addressed himself for being a puppet in the game when he encountered the other failed; dissolving the issue, being an issue. js... It was a good coming to terms moment.

Even to this day, the top 7 most choreographed fights of all time for me are the 7 fights from Advent Children. This, Sephiroth, Tifa's fight, the White Forest, the first bike ride, the highway chase, and the party vs Bahamut.
Don't get me wrong, these are impressive, but clearly you haven't seen the works of Monty Oum
You need to watch Daredevil on Netflix and Japanese action movie Versus.

To be honest I'm not a fan of the action there due to the limitations humans have compared to animated figures as well as the fact that most fights are one-sided with one hero just doing random acrobatic moves knocking over tens of goons. In Advent Children it's two or more competent fighters doing some beatiful and creative choreography. Like when Luz and Yazoo fight cloud and the harmony between the two is just jaw-drapping.
Try Rurouni Kenshin live-action movie, probably the most referenced movie (Post-2010s) for sword fight choreos...
But back on topic, for an animated show Advent Children was very-well choreo’d for its era I couldn’t stop gushing about it.

The movie stil looks ok, but you see the leap with the news part of the completed version in 2010. In the remake, the CG is a huge leap

It’s a shame Kadajj wasn’t at its full ability as he had to keep one hand occupied holding onto the suitcase containing Jenova DNA, he was unable to use spells after the first attack and had to fight one handed
It’s pretty cool he held his own regardless but may have lost anyway if he wasn’t occupied protecting Jenova’s remains during fight
Also Cloud has no Materia at all with him so it could be called a fair fight (Materia can do a lot more then just cast spells so maybe kadaj has other Materia that he was using, who knows), Cloud also fought Kadajs brothers before facing Kadaj and was recently healed from his Geostegma but I’m a 100% sure Cloud would beat Kadaj even if Kadaj went all out do to the fact that he beats Sephiroth (definitely much more powerful than kadaj) right after he fought Bahamut, Loz, Yazoo and Kadaj.
People say Sephiroth held back but I think Sephiroths power comes from his stamina/mana which could be in the infinites/unlimited amounts cause we see Cloud overpower Sephiroth in certain occasions in pure strength but he couldn’t keep that up unlike Sephiroth who could probably keep going none stop and cast spells without Materia as well. Clouds strength is acknowledged by Sephiroth when they clash inside the building where Sephiroth asks about Clouds new strength and remember this is after they had faced off at the end of FF7 and the creators said that this version of Sephiroth is more powerful then the end of FF7 version of Sephiroth.
Cloud > Kadaj, Cloud > Loz + Yazoo, and for a limited time Cloud >= Sephiroth but if it goes on Cloud < Sephiroth, Cloud Omnislash > Sephiroth. This is my take on who would win the fights and why.

I think its supposed to be a nod to his victory pose or it could be that's how they depicted "finishing touch" in the movie which is one of his limit breaks where he spins the sword.

As far as DLC material goes, there is SO MUCH opportunity there to incorporate Crisis Core, Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus. Square-Enix is going to be riding this for the next 2 decades and I'll be there, almost in my 60's still giving them my money.

Theres the “materials” part, ok finally. I’ve been struggling to remember this old movie my dad watched when I was little, and the only thing I could remeber was a girl carrying these orbs for the hero. Dad had passed a couple year ago so I haven’t had the chance to ask him. But with the new smash fighter being announced, “Sepiroth”seemed like a familiar. I’ve never played final fantasy, nor knew that they had a movie, just they had a remake and that’s where cloud comes from. Hell I didn’t even know the hero was cloud, my baby brain just remembered materials
