This used to be one of my favorite fight scenes of all time. I'd easily give it 10/10. Then, Advent Children Complete ruined it. Now I can't find the original fight scene anywhere... everywhere I look there's this "complete" bullshit. (I enjoy the new scenes from Complete, don't get me wrong. It's them altering existing scenes is what triggers me, because they did it with no taste) Too bad. The music and sound design in the original scene was out of this world. Made the fight way more exciting and dramatic. This... this is almost boring by comparison. The amazon prime version of Advent Children is the original version. I was wondering what the difference was, it felt like the music was quieter in this.

Wow, I didn't even notice until you mentioned it, but I totally agree the first cut was way better with the music mix. I watched the original version so many times but I think I've only watch the Complete version once and never even noticed it.
Nah, the Complete version is much better. They made the stakes of the fight higher when the music shifts after the tree is broken because at that point, they start showing that Yazoo and Loz are out-matching Cloud and that he's losing the fight. It kicks the music into high-gear with the opera and the more intense orchestration to signify this. Other than that, not much about the scenes are different except clarity, Complete's version is top-notch. In the original release the music stays the same throughout with no build-up or added tension to reflect what's happening on the screen.
