Army's Spirit Band is only a part-time cadet-run club at West Point, whereas both the Air Force and Naval Academy Cadet and Midshipman bands are full-time clubs with professional band directors. USMA's Cadet Band doesn't take themselves as seriously and has more fun with it, whereas USAFA and USNA's bands are forced to wear their cadet and midshipman uniforms and act as a true drum and bugle corps because they are allowed the time to train accordingly. Additionally, USMA has the full-time professional USMA Band composed of active-duty soldiers who fulfill USMA's need for a full-fledged marching band. USAFA and USNA's professional bands play smaller roles at their academies, and therefore place more responsibility on their cadet and midshipman bands
I love me some good drumming! Considering the absolutely rigorous physical and mental and academic load these young men and women handle, that they excel at this too is just icing on the proverbial cake. Makes me smile to see how much fun they have with it.
The army seemed to be having fun and the navy seemed like they had fun the first 50 times they practiced it but I love how they kept escalating every time it was their turn 10 out of 10 both of them
Wow that's the first time I seen Navy Drumline get so personal with Army. Usually Army drumline is the one that moves in on them. I'm liking that Navy ain't gonna take Army's drum lines shit anymore😂😂
Lol cause all the good army dudes graduated a year or so prior so the soul, funk and skill left with them. It’s sad that navy had to punk the fresh meat like that 😂
i would assume the army has enough money to get everyone matching carriers for their drums rather than just the tenors getting airframes and everyone else getting randall mays
If you know anything about drum line most of thed time everysing one of them are special. Almost like a cult. I admit it, I'm in drum line. The army just embraced that by there style and loose posture
I expected way better drumming , this was bad timing and uncoordinated compared to past years . The bass drums were terrible for army , and navies snares were so off time . Maybe it's because it's full of underclass men compared to years previous .
Hey Austin, quick question I'm a current high schooler interested in applying for the Military Academies and I had a question about cadet life and cameras. As a yearbook photographer and as an avid hobby photographer I always carry a DSLR with me, and I was wondering if you do the same with your camera at USMA, or if there are any restrictions on carrying one constantly?
Hey! While I am very active and I have peers of mine that are also active, especially with stills, I personally don't, nor do my peers, ALWAYS have a camera on us. That's more so driven by the high tempo of cadet life rather than express restrictions on doing so. Given that you are in a uniform 100% of the time you step out of the barracks as a freshman and decreasingly so but still very frequently as upperclassmen, if you have it slung and so long as your right hand is free to salute, I don't believe there'd be an issue with regard to constantly having it on your person.
How come of all these academy drum battles, Army looks like they're dressed to clean the latrines?

Austin Lachance navy lost the game against the Army
Chicken Soup
07 WP grad here...I absolutely laughed out loud when I read your comment...haha man!
Because they actually work for a living.
Army was pretty groovy but Navy's cadences were far more musically complex and executed them better, also what is Army wearing?
Mark Miller you seem uber cool, Mark...
They wear what they can *work* in
What do you mean? Army is wearing their dress blues...
The fellas are wearing sunglasses that's Army

looks like some of the Navy dudes marched drum corps
The Navy was looking Sharp.
Exactly bro
We always do man. That’s why Fleet Week is always a blast ;)😂
The Blue Jackets do the job!
I just need a military drumline to follow me around and play wherever I go. That would be awesome...
The winner is US Army/Navy. Thank you for yer service. "This we'll defend." "Always courageous."
Wow that's the first time I seen Navy Drumline get so personal with Army. Usually Army drumline is the one that moves in on them. I'm liking that Navy ain't gonna take Army's drum lines shit anymore😂😂

GreenhawkStudios Butthurt much?
Michael Dodge no sir. Just stating the facts
GreenhawkStudios Not really. Either way Army guys got butthurt.
Michael Dodge whatever you say dawg! ✌🏿
Lmfao around 7:00 when the navy guy played on one of the army guys drums the cymbals were freaking out and legit pushed them like no chill
justin mcgruder army was getting butt hurt lol
Its like common knowledge, you don't play on the other lines' drums. Its a sign of respect.
@@cbp_99 Yes that was rude. No need to play on their instruments if you are truly better.
Angela Trinh Oh shut up🙄😂😂
Army got punked. That navy dude was playing on that army guys drums lol
Navy always looks good and there poster is always great. Army always looks like a high school band or something
Just amazing. Wonderful stuff. Navy has the edge but Army the better presentation. Those sunglasses are badass!
That last couple pieces are HYPE AS HELL. Im in my room bangin out haha
those cymbol players are killing it! epicness level over 9000
Incorrect only 1 knew how to even do a flip and they played with 0 proper technique
@@notimpressedbyyourm4932 yeah chief I had never played the cymbals before the year I did spirit band. Apologies in advance lol

That's gotta be one of the best drumline battles ever.

#BeatArmy #GoNavy
this! this is what I wait for every year!💖💖💖💖
was waiting for this! great work!
This is the best drumline battle ever 💜
army... navy... gotta love 'em both !... :)
The army there cadences sounded kinda tribal/ carefree. The navy was what you'd expect the same old drum line style.
In the Navy we are all about tradition. Probably has something to do with. Like my dress uniforms are from ages ago haha.
why so little views? Great video!
8:21 the best beat
to start
Here come your future Chief and Officer in the Navy. Good Job to the Naval Academy. Go Navy #BeatArmy
Navy Drumline>Army Drumline
Navy won because they were more focused and they sounded cleaner
Its like the Navy to it to a personal level and won. Lol and then the awesome caos hits and had a great time.
That thumbnail almost made me cry those heights were so inconsistent
Also why would you ever tape your sticks black you can’t even see them at that point, maybe to hide their lack of height definition
i would assume the army has enough money to get everyone matching carriers for their drums rather than just the tenors getting airframes and everyone else getting randall mays
Damn, they're good!
navy showing army who has the big guns!
Army better to listen to, navy better to watch
Navy technically had it. Army just sounded like they were playing different variations of the same song
What camera was used? What filter color was used in the entire video ? Man the army are so groovy the but the navy nailed it
Sony A6300, I believe this is the Osiris M31 Look Up Table (LUT)
Thanks Man!! Lit vids, keep it up!!
This is war 🙏 I luv this clothes 🎶
I would like to say Navy the best …but both awesome.
NAVY!!
Wish the army would show more military bearing and professionalism.
Sadly the navy lost the game and Army won. Go Army
P.s navy looks like titanic officers in those clothes
I've been tryna figure out those first 3 for months😂
AYYYY LETS GO NAVY
8:16 whats the name of that beat pretty awesome
Army was butt hurt lol 😂😂😂😂
Yeah they were salty as hell
Army guy here. Navy clearly won this battle.

hey Austin why us army west point uses a donkey as a mascot. why not a grizzly bear instead?
Come on Army! Wheres the dress uniforms?
If you know anything about drum line most of thed time everysing one of them are special. Almost like a cult. I admit it, I'm in drum line. The army just embraced that by there style and loose posture
Army groovy style...Navy marching style...
Navy was on FIRE
Go Navy! Navy veteran 10 yrs, SH2(sw)
I liked the audio
I expected way better drumming , this was bad timing and uncoordinated compared to past years . The bass drums were terrible for army , and navies snares were so off time . Maybe it's because it's full of underclass men compared to years previous .

What is the name of the last cadence where both sides was playing? The one after D&K
What was the Army play at 8:45?
I need counting for all instruments
My
I got to hand it to the Navy in this one.
THEY WERE USING FREEDRUMLINEMUSIC.COM?!?
Where is the Sargent.

The airforce was nowhere to be seen, they were busy getting shit done.

I love Navy sorry army😍 team Navy
H O O A H - Go Army beat Navy!
Favorite part is at 8:19
Navy is very cocky and Army is short tempered
خوي خوي
Está de huevos
👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩💯🤗🤗🤗👏👏👏
Army or Navy wear and support a solid uniform. Fucking Army looks homeless already
Navy dresses snappy they automatically win
Army
I hope the army fight better than they play😂😂
Kirt Kelly Dont worry I'm sure they do.
Kirt Kelly of you want someone to fight call the marines
Great Value Bleach
That's what the Naval Academy is for. X3
Marines: "Were Amphibious as fuck"
Army: "where were you on d day??"
I think the navy did a better job but I didn’t like the sound of their snares this time.
7:17
Hahahah.Women is your saviour...
Army top dogs, Navy won't square up
The older one is better.
look i love the army but in the first ten sec the navy took it
i take that back lmao
The hype is real and these guys are fun to watch, but if I had to judge their playing they'd both fail.
Why can that usma person push on a usna drummer. We need to look closer to see who qualify for these two great schools not based o check boxes.
army definitely won that
Ra
Dirt
what’s the name of the piece(s) that both played together at the end?
