    We actually now know that Cordyceps only manipulates the ant's brain in the moment it bites down and dies. Instead, the fungus takes over the ant's *leg muscles* and forces it to walk against its will away from the colony and up to an ideal location for spreading the fungus's spores. Which is even more horrifying!

      I don't know about you guys, but for me Heatran has to be one of, if not THE least legendary among legendary pokemon. Sure, pokedex says that they nest in volcanic caves and their body is made of molten metal but in legendary standards that isnt much. Magmar also live in volcanoes and there are many metallic pokemon out there. Heck, why can it be in both genders, not even one specific gender like Latis or Cresselia. Unlike Tobias with Darkrai and Latios, the random trainer who had Heatran with them didn't make me even bat an eye, I was like "aha, ok".

  • @maninthetrenchcoat5603
    @maninthetrenchcoat5603 5 лет назад +43

    Rotom Mow could be Grass type because of all the grass that gets caught inside the mower. You could hypothetically say it's a reverse Dhelmise. While Dhelmise is grass on a metal object, Rotom Mow is a metal object containing grass. It's able to use Leaf Storm because of all the grass that's stuck in the mower. Its properties of dropping the special attack make even more sense as it could represent it running out of grass to shoot.

      16:33 No living snakes have legs (excluding the extremely tiny pelvic spurs left on pythons and boas). Snakes are a specific group of animals, they're not just any legless lizard. A limbless body plan has evolved at least 11 separate times; including (relatively) close relatives of geckos, tegus, and monitor lizards. The latter actually being the closest living relatives of snakes. Point being: limblessness is actually very common among lizards and is not unique to snakes.
      Fun fact: snakes and monitor lizards are also the closest living relatives of the mosasaurs (although science isn't entirely sure who's closest to who). This also means that snakes and mosasaurs are actually lizards.

    Fun fact, Jackolanterns come from a very old Irish tradition, but what the Irish used to make them were giant beets and turnips that were hollowed out to look like lanterns, they even have a story called "Jack of the Lantern" where a guy named Jack made deal with the devil to not be taken into Hell then proceeded to make it so he couldn't get into Heaven and then tried to break into Hell only to be chased out by the Devil then use one of the coal's from Hell as the light for his own makeshift lantern which was made by hollowing out a giant beet or turnip, depends on the sources you use, but when the practice was brought over to the rest of Europe and North America the lack of giant beets and turnips led to the using of gourds as a substitute. So, if you really want to do things the traditional way with Jackolanterns go and buy a sugarbeet and hollow it out into a lantern then put your candle in there. Makes me wonder, would they make variants of Pmpkaboo and Gourgeist that are beets but keep the typing when moving into an Ireland-based region?

    • @c.d.dailey8013
      @c.d.dailey8013 3 года назад +2

      That fits well enough. Clean air is a byproduct. Photosynthesis is a major activity that plants do. In a way it is a reverse burning. Plants take in water, carbon dioxide and sunlight. Then they produce sugar and oxygen. The sugar is a source of food and energy. Oxygen is fresh clean air. It is essential to make something burn. A regular fire needs oxygen to burn. That is why using bellows can help a fire burn. They blow in extra oxygen. Humans and animals need oxygen too. They breathe that in. Then they use the oxygen to burn their fuel to help fuel their bodies. Resperation involves some really complicated chemistry, but basically it is like burning. It is as if each animal has a little combustion engine inside. If Leafeon can perform photosynthesis, then it would probably give off fresh oxygen too. I hope I cleared things up.

    Lileep & Cradily actually do have reasoning for their Grass Type. While crinoids may not be plants, they have a plant like property of rooting themselves to rocks. Crinoids are also officially know as the Sea Lily, & it's likely that Lileep & Cradily are designed to a hybrid of both a sea lily & an actual lily to make a more literal sense of the term "sea lily". Kinda like how despite Kingdra & Dragalge not being based on literal dragons, they are based on a creature who has "dragon" in the name.

Mutualism is what you confused with symbiotic a couple of times, its where both parties get a positive thing out of the relationship like the clownfish and anemone. Commensalism is where only one creature gets and advantage and the other is neither hurt nor helped, and parasitism is where one benefits at the others expense.

    Right before you started talking about fungi, I was wondering to myself why all fungus Pokémon are Grass-type. Fungi are actually more closely related to animals than to plants---in fact, they're more closely related to animals than everything else. That's why fungi and animals are together in a clade called ophistokonts, of which plants are not part. (and neither are some other "biota", which just means "living things").
    So, Grass type does not make sense from a phylogenetic point of view. But then again, it doesn't need to, because Pokémon types are not genetic classifications, after all!

    • @jabrown
      @jabrown 5 лет назад +1

      P.S. I am not a biologist, not at all. You can read all of this stuff on Wikipedia and in a few biology articles.

    • @Wiggins-
      @Wiggins- 5 лет назад +1

      I think it's just because gaming tropes have always associated fungi with plants because they look much more similar to each other than any other group does, and most people didn't actually know that fungi are closer to animals until fairly recently. And for gamefreak/nintendo to change it now would be pretty strange.
      Personally I also feel that fungal pokemon work well in the grass type, it's just thematically neat and the only other type I could think to put them in would be poison (Even though most fungi aren't poisonous/venomous), dark (Only relation being that they like dark places, as fungi aren't really villainous), or niche typing specific to the pokemon in question.
      It's mostly stationary, it pretty much acts like a plant, so it's grass type

    • @grahamhoskins3023
      @grahamhoskins3023 5 лет назад +2
