Well, it really depends on the Pokemon. Some Ghost-types, like Phantump, Pumpkaboo, Litwick, and Blacephalon, aren't really very spooky. While others, like Trevenant, Chandelure, Giratina, Spiritomb, and Sableye, are spoopier. It really just depends on _why_ it has the Ghost type. With Normal, that depends on what you consider to be "normal." Eevee, Ratata, Patrat, Tauros, Litleo, and Yungoos seem to be pretty "normal" Pokemon, but then again... you get stuff like Heliolisk where it's not so obvious. For me, Normal is more of an animal-y type. I remember reading some advice on creating Normal-types somewhere, and the author made a comparison to Eevee with its whole "untapped potential" thing and how it can evolve into 7/8 different types. Others, like Tepig, Combusken, Oricorio, Volcorona, and Darumaka, it's not so obvious. I think some Pokedex entries actually _give_ the temperature of the fire, but I could be wrong.

I always thought that Aerodactyl's skin was as hard a rock, but the membrane of its wings was softer, thus explaining the Old Amber. I especially thought this when Mega Aerodactyl was described as being closer to how Aerodactyl looked in its time.
@Evil Paragon2 I commented it elsewere but I would argue that roggenrolla&Evos could be based of Basalt because of their dark and hexagonal form....but I would say he researched pretty good!

I love it when people say rock types and ground types would die if they went for a swim. Rock types who can learn surf: Lol, summoning water go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrt
Relicanth is based on the Celioecanth (don’t know how to spell it though). It’s an still living fish from the dinosaur era and has rock-like skin to protect itself
Death Mountaineers - Some of them he easily dismissed though. Rockruff and Lycanroc’s spikes are explicitly called rock and Aerodactyl gets its rock type because it’s Mega is what it was before the restoration process
*inhales* B O I The reason he's done Rock and Steel is because there's different types of Rocks and Steel and he try's to find what kind they are, the only way I can think of him doing "normal" types would be comparing them to actual animals
Top of my head I can think of are Farfetch'd, Lapras, and Dunsparce. Also I personally don't think Mega's count as a proper evolution so I would include Pinsar and the others. Every gen has at least one no evolution pokemon.
In native american culture life there are 4 stages of life. (Please understand they consider all of the universe as alive, so bear with me) 1 - mineral nation. Oldest form of life. Element earth. Physical body. 2 - plant nation. Element water. Emotional body. 3 - animal nation. Element air. Mental body. 4 - human nation. Element gire. Spiritual body. Natives use rocks in their sacred saunas because they believe rocks have been on the earth for longer than we can ever imagine and that they carry information of change in them. As for in the pokemon world, it WOULD make sense that the first pokemon were made out of rocks following the natives stages of life. Since apparently pokemon can be breathing rocks
Aerodactyl is a bit tricky. To figure out why rocks come out from its body when Mega Evolving, first we have to find out what it was originally. Since all we know is that it is currently a Rock/Flying type, and it can obviously fly perfectly, Flying is confirmed for sure. But what about Rock? Did it replace anything or was it a pure Flying type? Well, I think it was actually a Dragon/Flying type. This is held true by the fact that Lance, the DRAGON master, uses an Aerodactyl on his team in every game he's seen in. Not to mention it's attitude. In every appearance of Aerodactyl, it has constantly been shown to be quick to get angry and has a foul temper. All of which are traits shared by most Dragon types. Not to mention it's move pool, which is shared by countless Dragons. Now. How was the Aerodactylite first formed? In order for someone to have an Infinity Stone and an Aerodactylite, Aerodactyls would have to be around during the time AZ's device was built. A time when fossil Pokémon would have to have been revived to live. This means that even if it isn't how the original Dragon/Flying Aerodactyls were, that's what DNA the Aerodactylites are encrypted with. Aerodactls before might as well be a different species. Well, they technically are. It's like if you use Soak to turn an Aerodactyl into a Water type and then it Mega Evolves. It's not slapping a new type on, it's bringing out what's there now.
Muhammad Irfan Perdana Magikarp and Gyarados are based on a chinese myth of a karp jumping over a waterfall and becoming a dragon so no one really knows
Helix The King I agree with you but again I completely disagree with you because it’s rock type because well fossil Pokémon and fossils are rocks so. And it shouldn’t be rock type because rocks are very heavy and flying creatures need light or hollow bones because heavy things cannot fly I mean have you ever seen an elephant fly? But again the Quetzalcoatlus breaks the laws of physics because it was very heavy and it could ... fly
Thoughts on Nihilego: I thought it was an oversight that blown glass wasn't mentioned, especially considering we have blown glass jellyfish figurines made by talented artisans. Also, glass is actually a liquid! It is very, very, very thick, but liquid nonetheless (over very very long spans of time glass will warp as it is stretched downward by gravity). This - in addition to the strange physics of another universe - is a pretty solid explanation of Nihilego's biology.

Helix The King Diancie is a mutation. Not an evolution.
So Diancie is the gen 6 Genesct.
If its the darwinian evolution, why do carbinks still exist? Plus, there would be a lot more diancies, if evolution works how i think it does
shinysilverstardust That's The definition of evolution.
Alif Azmi That isn't always the case
Carbuncles look more like espeon than any other pokemon. There can be more than one pokemon based on it of course, but look at a carbuncle then look at an espeon!
KvAt uh, yeah, yeah it does. It even comes out and says it in Archen's Pokedex entry when it says it's the ancestor of some bird Pokémon. That's called Darwinian evolution
After watching this video I looked up a bunch of barnacle facts and watched a 10 minute barnacle documentary😂
I always thought that Aerodactyl's skin was as hard a rock, but the membrane of its wings was softer, thus explaining the Old Amber. I especially thought this when Mega Aerodactyl was described as being closer to how Aerodactyl looked in its time.
Fossil Pokémon are my favorite rock types, I've always thought they where cool and I often add them to my team whenever I have the chance.
As a geologist major this vid is my wet dream thank you for making this
pokemonfadi626 nice
Would you disagree with any of the points?
pokemonfadi626 I guess you could say this what you get your rocks off to!
@Evil Paragon2 I commented it elsewere but I would argue that roggenrolla&Evos could be based of Basalt because of their dark and hexagonal form....but I would say he researched pretty good!
pokemonfadi626 you need a therapist
I'm happy that pupitar evolves from rock ground to rock and dark or it would have got 4x disadvantages against grass and water even tho it already got 4x disadvantages against fighting ;-;
13:36 ok but why are they force feeding meowth shuckle juice
I love it when people say rock types and ground types would die if they went for a swim.
Rock types who can learn surf: Lol, summoning water go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrt
Poor summerchild...
That is no beard on that alola Railgun.
Its his chesthair.
I am deeply ashamed that I recognized the thumbnail art, nobody look at me
I don't recognize it, enlighten me.
xnirox?
SlantedxGaming I have a strong feeling that it's porn due to you saying that
KaVee e it is and don't ask how I know that just know that I do A LOT of "research" for "reasons"

Grass-types, what kind of plants? As in, flower or grass, if flower what kind, etc.
No, tell him to do dark-types instead.
Your name is Gnoggin, and you're doing a video on Rock-types...
*My Singing Monsters intensifies*
Yes! OF COURSE!
Relicanth is based on the Celioecanth (don’t know how to spell it though). It’s an still living fish from the dinosaur era and has rock-like skin to protect itself
When we gonna all types of Grass-type Pokemon?
MrChomper4 or ground
man this was excellently edited very informative too
Death Mountaineers - Some of them he easily dismissed though. Rockruff and Lycanroc’s spikes are explicitly called rock and Aerodactyl gets its rock type because it’s Mega is what it was before the restoration process
Also Amaura and Aurorus not having rocks yeah sure just ignore those gems on there sides how he missed that i have no idea
Can you Do a every Dragon Type Explained?
Sean Dewar nice profile art
chubby monk thnx, I made it on Rinmaru Avatar Creator
Sean Dewar he is supposed to that own last
Am I the only one who finds Larvitar adorable?
I like how you used rock music for the rock type
Austin, Do every normal type Pokémon next :)
NativeWalker Adrian
Good idea dude
Hint: not all Normal types are normal.
NativeWalker Adrian I just feel zangoose should be not normal type and maybe dark type because it just doesn't feel like a normal type
NativeWalker Adrian YES! Austin please do this!
*inhales*
B O I
The reason he's done Rock and Steel is because there's different types of Rocks and Steel and he try's to find what kind they are, the only way I can think of him doing "normal" types would be comparing them to actual animals
I would love a breakdown of all the pokemon that have no evolutions!
Are there still some left? I thought every Pokémon got a baby version or at least a Mega evolution.
Top of my head I can think of are Farfetch'd, Lapras, and Dunsparce.
Also I personally don't think Mega's count as a proper evolution so I would include Pinsar and the others. Every gen has at least one no evolution pokemon.
You're right, didn't think of those. Could still be interesting.
My parents said pokemon is a bunch of nonsense I showed them the video and they were speechless

Firetail Taevarth now everyone mentioning it
Furry

Grass type next
Rock types are actually my favorite type so this video made me ..... ROCK hard :p
Please do all of the types I love these videos
In native american culture life there are 4 stages of life. (Please understand they consider all of the universe as alive, so bear with me)
1 - mineral nation.
Can I have the link for the music used in this vid? Its really good! I can groove to this specially while driving to work!!
Nice vid man!
Super Kamehameha! Same all of the songs are pretty good but idk where to find them xD
i got a theory that relicanth is an ancient Magikarp
Kaden Lingbeck hmmmmmm
In some Pokemon games the pokedex says that
"this Pokemon hasn't developed/evolved for millions of years"
But IDK. Maybe I'm wrong.
Helix The king you wot all that
Muhammad Irfan Perdana Magikarp and Gyarados are based on a chinese myth of a karp jumping over a waterfall and becoming a dragon so no one really knows
Helix The King Are you telling me Thanos is collecting the Infinity Stones to summon an Aerodactyl!?
no, he's summoning MAGIKARPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!
But again the Quetzalcoatlus breaks the laws of physics because it was very heavy and it could ... fly
3:49 Bird Keeper Toby has a video that mentions this part in more detail if you all want to check that out too! :3
Oh hey Minior, whats up? hey.. hey minior ? Minior, oh no you're falling! Minior, you're falling... wait... wait... OH GOD!!! OH GOD IT CAN'T HEAR US IT'S [full of space dust] OH NO!!! MINIORRRR!!!1
I always like your video's before watching them 'cause i know they'll be good.
leronne clemencia Same!!
What about every bug type explained where you tell us what each pokemons real life bug is
That would be an interesting video. Especially considering that the bug type seems to stand more as the Arthropod type.
0:48 the pokerock rap
Oh yeah we get a lycanroc on the thumbnail!!!
Analysing names doesn't work with other languages
Geodude = Racaillou in french
"Caillou" = Little stone so not really geode

Thoughts on Nihilego: I thought it was an oversight that blown glass wasn't mentioned, especially considering we have blown glass jellyfish figurines made by talented artisans. Also, glass is actually a liquid! It is very, very, very thick, but liquid nonetheless (over very very long spans of time glass will warp as it is stretched downward by gravity). This - in addition to the strange physics of another universe - is a pretty solid explanation of Nihilego's biology.
No, glass is not a liquid, THAT MYTH IS BULLSHIT
dude
Glass is an amorphous solid, not a liquid. It's not entirely solid, but not entirely liquid.
The Almighty Queqlqag Kinda like mercury, right?
Kind of, but not really, mercury just has really weird elemental properties that make it easy to melt.
I always thought shuckle might be made of clay.
I'm a Geologist and you did awesome. There were a few things that were a little off, but all together I can tell you did your research. Regirock would be a "conglomerate" rock, Macargo would be a rhyolitic magma pokemon due to its high SiO2 content giving a high viscosity , and Larvatar could be coated in metamorphic rock.
I really enjoy this Pokemon type series. So much attention to detail!
