Pair this with a voracious appetite and watch as lionfish kill or outcompete just about every other local fish population into extinction. There's good news though. Scientists have found that local predators can be "taught" to recognize lionfish as food by leaving dead or wounded ones in the water. Divers and fishers are sometimes paid bounties for culling lionfish populations, and in many places entire fisheries have been established around them.
Yep, they got rules posted about culling lionfish around here... basically just if you catch em, don’t throw em back. Apparently they’re decent eating, but screw that Lol

I remember one time when I started playing the game, I was fish class and I wanted to make my friends laugh by increasing my nose size and saying “Look at my long nose!”. I thought this was silly but 3 hours later I somewhat regretted doing that. I was upgrading my strength while watching RUclips videos because I was bored upgrading my points into strength. This video played and really helped me out! This actually helped me become a sword fish build and is pretty great because I’ve already put a lot into nose length.
The music choices don’t go unappreciated. Ocean SUNfish - Mario sunshine FLYING fish - Kid Icarus Billfish (has a sword) - Fire Emblem lol Love it. Such small details but they go a long way
14:15 - Actually, sharks also have no problem eating lionfish, although they need to _learn_ it. I recently read about a project (around Florida, I think) in which marine biologists _teach_ the local sharks that lionfish are food (not friends) in order to control this invasive species. I know you said "no sharks in this video", but in this context, I would mention it nonetheless.
The Billfish is absolutely one of those absurdly high skill-ceiling finesse DPS builds that you see pulling off crazy killstreaks in the pro scene. Basically the Starfox of the fish meta

Catfish definitely should be higher tier. Depending in their spawn point and how good the player is, some Catfish players have managed to unlock the giagantism trait. Also, their passive ability to live in basically mud water gives catfish players the advantage of camping through conditions other fish players would get sent back to character select for.
your channel's got such an incredible concept, this is truly amazing how did i not discover it earlier i'm a gamer and a huge zoology enthusiast, more particularly marine biology, so this channel was made for me! btw you forgot to mention the second pair of jaws (pharyngeal jaws) the moray eels have to grip on all sorts of stuff, it significantly boosts their attack stat and prevents preys from escaping ;)
I'd like to point put that one of the catfishs' greatest abilities was left out; they nabbed one of the reptile build abilities; the ability to continually grow larger throughout their lives without limit. This can lead to massive catfish tanking/ambush builds that I personally believe earn them a higher place in the meta.
While it is true that catfish will just keep growing for as long as they grow older, this is not unique to the catfish guild. A lot of different fish guilds have no true upper limit on size and keep growing with age, with another notable example being bass and grouper. This ability is true for a lot of fish guilds, it's just that some guilds get better returns for it i.e. an older remora is still primarily a support class but just bigger, while an old grouper is a massive swimming tank that can eat or at least bully almost anything it comes across. Catfish are notable for gigantism however because the best catfish builds are freshwater ones, either obligate or they can survive some brackish conditions. Since they are generalists already (for the most part, the Mekong Giant Catfish and Candiru are specialists) and tolerant of low water quality they are great survivalists and tend to survive to old age more readily than other builds. This combined with the reduced competition and max size in fresh water servers (only massive river servers like the Amazon begin to compare with the competitive level of Ocean servers) means they can easily outstrip every other fish build around. More so than freshwater bass, it is the river monster type catfish, like the Wels Catfish, that are truly the big fish in a small pond.
@@samgross7352 I would also say that, at least when counting specific catfish builds, they can reach A+ tier max. Even when counting all catfish averaged together as a whole (and counting other saltwater fish as well) catfish should be higher than on this list, but not by much (I would say B+, instead of mid C tier). I made a much longer comment before on this vid about it, but the short of it is that although catfish are excellent generalists with tanky base stats and great sensory abilities, Siluriformes as a guild is massive so not all catfish are like the Wels or Piraiba and things like the Suckermouth catfish (the largest sub-guild at 680 variant builds) bring down the average. Also the best catfish builds being freshwater and saltwater catfish being pretty unremarkable is a nock in my eyes. However yes, I think the overall placement is low (but not that low) and that specific catfish builds can reach much higher than the average.
When I was a Piranha player, it was a unique experience. Playing with my guild was one of the most community driven playthroughs of a carnivore I'd ever played! The only thing that comes close are gigantic schools of fish, or giant flocks of birds, and even then those are not predator focused like the Piranha. Would fully recommend one playthrough of it! While Wolves are a very tight-knit group, the school of Piranha's are much more relaxed and open to new players, because they have to be in order to get more numbers for their strategy to work. Overall a very relaxed enviroment!

Fun fact: piranhas don't often attack live things. Though the feeding frenzy and they're relatively high power stat, it deosnt like to stack live or even severely injured builders. Usually they will wait til they are dead.
@@jacedavis9880 that's a myth man. The only time you truly have a chance of losing anything is during the dry season. The fish to really be afraid of in South America is the Candiru, which is a type of catfish btw.

I love how the music corresponds to the fish he's talking about. Kid Icarus music for flying fish, Mario Sunshine music for sun fish, and Fire Emblem music for sword fish.
I like the one of the Lion fish as well. It being so loud and dramatic cause the Lion fish is like that. Also it could easily become a Pokémon with pretty much no changes needed.
Imagine playing WoW and you're treated worse than the healer. You're basically a dedicated tank with high hp and no attack. How high on the tier list would that class be?
Yeah, but notably ranged weapons like guns and even spears don’t work underwater, so lion fish players have very little competition, they should be nerfed
Makes you wonder why we haven't gotten a Lionfish pokemon yet; They look like a pokemon, and typing, ability and stats write themselves with Water/ Poison, Poison Point, High Def & Sp.Def, middling HP, Atk & Sp.Atk, and low Speed.
But life is a big Playground. Mr Nobody says that. See... That Billfish brings a sword to a Mouth Fight. If any other fish wants to defeat the Billfish, they have to bring better weapon or armors. Following the logic of Fire Emblem, i said, bring out the lance, you noob fishes.
Imagine the reaction from the insect class when the archerfish made it into the game. I can only imagine how weird it was being attacked by a player from a completely different server, then said player forces you into their server just to grief you.
@@genericbee1902 I guess the devs were probably on something real good when creatign it lol. I wonder what other insect and archerfish mains thought of it at launch.
I'm technically not an insect main, but as an Isopod veteran, I found it all absolutely hilarious. Yeah, I lost a lot of playthroughs to those guys, but what saves it is that the playerbase for archerfish is surprisingly self aware and full of good sports. I think I might consider giving a playthrough as one a shot once my alt account's save file clears.

Flying Fish expectatives: "This is so cool! I can fly like a bird! It's like having habilities from two oppossites worlds! Oh man I'm the coolest animal on earth!" Reality: *Being eaten from both water and air*
If only flying fish mains tried to develop an attack perk or skill. A stinger might do well for them because they are very fast and can evade to land if the stinger fails. But until then, they are low tier trash.
Argentine ants have done the insect equivalent of overcoming racism and treat all other members of their own species as if they were from the same hive, and using this supercolony strategy have dominated every -continent- server except Antarctica
Flying fish can be a lot of fun for a good player too, gives a challenge and making jumps at the right times is a great skill tester that feels amazing to pull of, just going "actually i can fly" is great.
Also I prefer to speculate on what it might evolve into. Perhaps it will gain a better ability to fly. What if it diversifies into a wide group like the other 4? What if it develops a way to breath air??
Trevally and Jack mains often can track flying fish players through the air, and the speed of the Jacks and trevally make it easy to catch them. Some people who main the giant trevally can even catch bird players midair. That often causes tons of salt as you can guess
Ill be interested to see an updated version of the deep sea video given the new info about the server. The mariana trench snailfish has a lot of potential i think
As an archerfish main, I must say I’ve had way too many games end early because of being forced to the surface. That said, sniping insects is one of the most fun things to do and is why I love the archerfish.
@Mondegreen as a bat main I get camped on by fish often when xp grinding near water, but as an insect specializing in eyesight can help you see fish before they strike, and insects already have very good base sight most of the time. Hope this helps!

14:15 - Actually, sharks also have no problem eating lionfish, although they need to _learn_ it.
@@VillainousHanacha and because of that ability I believe the catfish build should be higher up, at least in regards to freshwater servers.
How many of you fish for catfish?
IMO catfish belong in A tier
When I was a Piranha player, it was a unique experience. Playing with my guild was one of the most community driven playthroughs of a carnivore I'd ever played! The only thing that comes close are gigantic schools of fish, or giant flocks of birds, and even then those are not predator focused like the Piranha. Would fully recommend one playthrough of it! While Wolves are a very tight-knit group, the school of Piranha's are much more relaxed and open to new players, because they have to be in order to get more numbers for their strategy to work. Overall a very relaxed enviroment!

Out of the corner of my eye while I'm on my phone I see a shadow in the water come at my foot like a torpedo so I yanked my legs back in the boat footwells. When my eyes focused on the Shadow It was 3 foot 7 inch Muskie.
Never forget that one planet earth II episode where the catfish started hunting pigeons that came to the water to drink and bathe
Yes this episode was really surprising and almost frightening. Those catfishes are real madlads. Btw don't wanna spoil but those catfishes are becoming really scary for the other players, need to be nerfed.
I think you’re talking about wels, they can get to nearly 300 pounds I think, so they could easily eat things way bigger than pigeons. I wouldn’t be surprised if one turned up with a dog in its stomach
I was going to say, catfish aren't all bottom feeders, quite a few are active predators, and if the show river monsters had taught us anything, catfish will try and eat anything they can fit their absolutely massive mouths around.
Catfish are at least tier B in my book--the Wels Catfish(europe), Goonch Catfish(himalayas), and the Piraiba in the Amazon can all get massive--200-300 lbs easy. I see shit out there saying 600+ lbs too... He really didn't give the catfish its due imo
Kinuhbud Mekong giant catfish get over 600 pounds, but there also vegetarian. I agree on catfish being at least B tier too
Did you know there's a discord full of old Dino mains currently playing as a horde of Cane toads?
They are quite toxic..
its unfortunate that the troll build got nerfed with new bridges.
I used to be a dilophosaurus main but now I’m just a frilled lizard main. I was thinking of being a cane toad but people found exploits to kill them.
Yeah.
N E R F
Yeah, I was normally maining the pterodactyl, until the 1.3 update where it got a rework and a rename and called it a bird. So now I use the human
@Milk oh cool bro I’ll check out the other serve. Thx for the tip
TierZoo: "Bass are the gate keepers of top tier fish build"
They are also the gate keepers to rare fishes in Animal Crossing
