Whenever you are doing the tortilla bowl again and wrapping it in foil, rub a very thin layer of cooking oil on the foil to prevent sticking. Don't use butter on direct flames as it will burn the food. Remember, butter has a lot of water, more so than cooking oil. Great video Steve.

I just got done camping for the 4th of July with a dome tent and a portable air conditioner and it was 90s outside. The regular tent cooled down so much that my wife and I had to cover up with the blankets. The only thing that was an inconvenience was that it kept filling up with water because of how humid it was and we didn't have a spare garden hose for it to drain out of the tent.
This reminds me of when i saw some people in the Florida keys camping in August. They had a Window Unit AC duct taped into the side of their tent, supported by a table.

Again, thanks for being a huge comfort to us both, and to loads of other people, your content is appreciated more than you know!
I’ve watched dozens or hundreds of bush crafting vids and out of all of them this is just by far the most relatable and even enviable camping trip I’ve ever seen. Props to people grinding it out from square zero but Steve you are absolutely living the life mate, just killing it!
THIS ISNT EVEN CRAFTING, he set his tent up in less than a minute, he brought his own wood, his own coal, HIS OWN DAMN BED AND AC, THIS IS NO WHERE NEAR CAMPING OR CRAFTING
Honestly, I have done a LOT of backpack camping and roughing it. If you wanna go outdoors to just relax and enjoy yourself this is 100% the way to do it. Car camping with all the luxuries is great for when you just wanna hang out and take it easy. At least personally it's not always about the hero's journey and self reliance. sometimes you just wanna eat cheeseburgers, take a shower and still be outdoors lol.
@@Wh0AsK3D That's why they said its the most relatable, and to them "enviable". Not everybody wants to go outdoors to rub sticks together and build a shelter. Why do all that work to relax outdoors when you can just pack it in your car? Most bushcrafters share that opinion. It's not always about roughing it and self reliance. Sometimes you just wanna relax and enjoy the beauty of nature with out the struggle.
Steve, I absolutely love what you've created here. I watch all your new videos and then go back and watch older ones over again. As such, I just caught the "verbal contract"😂🤣 in this one. We'll keep watching, you keep making "em!🙏
When I was little I remember my Grams making "hobo potatoes". It was red potatoes, small thin slivers of onions, occasionally some mushrooms and good old salted butter and camp spices. All mixed up and laid out in a flat foil pouch - I'd say 14" x 10" and (depending on where we were) it was cooked on the fire pit or grill. We used to go to the same campground every year for several weeks in the summer. Right in the border of Maine and NH and I always knew we'd get to have some hobo potatoes! When I got a bit older my Mum cooked them the same way and it smelled soOooooOoo good! Half the neighborhood kids would end up coming for a few bites 🤣 She definitely learned real quick that the smell carried and the kiddos came & she'd cook way more than she planned to feed our household! I miss my Mum! And I don't chat with my Grams often enough.... I'll call her tonight! Anyway, thanks for sparking that memory! Happy Cool Camping!
Sounds like some great childhood memories, I am definitely gonna try something like hobo potatoes next time I got camping... I should probably call my grandma too lol.
Ya, but he should have waited till the fire goes out and only ashes and coals left to cook the foiled potatoes in the ash it will cook faster more even and taste much better. I also think it would have been easy for him to put the extra poles on his cot if he didn't completely extend his frame in the beginning lol

It may not always be the most economical way, but Steve has mastered simplicity when it comes to cooking while camping, and his meals always look delicious!
You can chuck those foiled potatoes right into the hot embers and they're done in no time, depending on their size. Also, if you've had a good fire going for a while, you don't even need foil. Just set them in the white ash around the embers and spin 'em around every so often. The skin gets like potato chips and they are excellently smoky after just a bit of brushing off.
Tossing the onion skin on in the ash just next to the edge of the embers is amazing as well. The skin chars and looks intimidating but after 30-40 min it gets wonderfully sweet and Smokey once you pull the skin and outer layer off if you over cooked it

I know that the egg in tin foil thing didn't go as planned, but have you ever tried the egg in a zip top bag trick? You will need a pot of boiling water, so it doesn't alleviate you of all utensils, but it is super easy clean up. The trick is to save some of your onions/mushrooms/meat from the night before and toss them in your bag. Next morning crack a couple eggs into the bag, shake it up and dip it into a pot of water that just came to a boil. Voila! Instant easy camping omelette with almost no cleanup!

Ya, but he should have waited till the fire goes out and only ashes and coals left to cook the foiled potatoes in the ash it will cook faster more even and taste much better.
