Abandoned Rail Stealth Camping

- I headed down an abandoned #rail line for some stealth camping. I hoped to find a nice little spot along the tracks and fortune was on my side. Perhaps a bit too stealthy of a #camping spot as I would say there was about a 0% chance of anyone finding me. Perhaps not a nail-biting night, but any night outdoors is always good.

I'm perfectly happy with "Steve camps in interesting places" instead of "suspenseful drama stealth" videos sometimes! I have been enjoying your videos lately, thank you so much!
Not normally this late to the party but what this clever person said, whatever the case, keep hunkering down 😊 🍻
Yes man, people evolve and do better things.👍
except everything was good until he started doing rails
How about we appreciate both?
totally agree
Who else was scared the rock was going straight for the highway? 😅
Call it car / truck bowling from there! Lol
That was my first thought....
Me!
I was
Steve thought so to by the look on his face...
Steve, you could pitch a tent in your living room and we'd be just fine "camping" with you. You just being you is enough for us. Love ya bro.
Just grab a couple of the blankets from the fort, throw them over the kitchen table and chairs. Now you're camping with steve.
And a step 2
This is what my guy brain means when I say I would love to see the videos that aren’t a “success” to you Steve.
Idk man, I don't know if wanna see Steve's tent pole inside the house
Lmao with that hammock😂
Steve, I've been a silent viewer. I watch but don't really comment. However, I just wanted to say that as much as I love your videos with a little extra spice, like the roundabout, I also love these types of videos that are just nice and lowkey. I'd be willing to guess that many other people in this community agree with that sentiment as well. Just do you and we'll be along for the camping ride. This was a relaxing one but I loved it, thank you for the video and thank you for just being you!
Thanks for the kind words and following along
@campingwithsteve hey Steve do u have a whats app buisness account on as I am not sure if someone is pretending to be you and asking for you subscribes to invest in stocks and shers??? I have received a msg asking
Since covid has kept me from doing group camp trips, it's been really nice to listen to the nature sounds and the rustle and bustle of camping while I fall asleep. It's very nice chill vibes camping with steve
@@luke-THC obviously scam
one of my favourite things about steve has to be his dedication to leaving the places he camps just as nice or better than he found them, too many people just dont do that
We have to appreciate his respect of the land. 💙
Inspired me to do the same
Steve is literally the guy anyone could be friends with
and would want to
Television is trash, THIS is wholesome entertainment by a genuinely good person, thank you.👍🏼
LOL You are so right!
No fakes, no paid actors, real entertainment.
Absolutely!!
@@Ajiponferret Yeah way better than most vlogs with similar stuff! But the others dwell way too long on forcing us ( if u don't switch channels) to watch ppl cry stuff in a fring pan ! Lol
No television is not trash.
Don’t worry about it not being challenging or stealthy. I started watching you from your ordinary camping videos when you were taking classes a few years ago. Other types of camping are welcome, wether it’s stealth, in camp grounds, unusual setups, in camper vehicles, etc. because we just like your personality.
Well said.
agreed
Totally agree!
You don’t have to flirt with the law to make awesome content. Literally hanging out with you any way you choose to camp is a pleasure! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
The reason we watch is 90% steve 10% actual camping.
I agree. I'd still watch every video even if they became "just sitting with Steve". Something about him just makes me think only about the video while I watch. The rest of the day just goes away during the video.
Rong
“This Stealth Camp is too easy…. “ then proceeds to tip over the stove and almost set alight the whole embankment. Another great episode Steve, keep them coming. 😎👍🏻
Lol maybe too many "Step two's" lol ;)
Someone drives past and wonders why they smell chicken cooking
We don’t come here for the “challenge of the stealth,” as much as we come here for “Steve, the person, camping.” Thanks for all you do, and for reigniting that passion for camping and cool people like you do, Steve.
This is a very serendipitous stealth camping episode, in light of the passing of Gordon Lightfoot, who wrote and performed the Canadian Railroad Trilogy, one of his greatest hits. A stealth tribute to Gordon. 🥰
"So they looked to the future and what did they see?
They saw iron road camping by a nice guy called Steve.
Bringing good humor to a bunch of his fans
Who can't wait to go camping across this great land."
I had tickets to see him in Florida last month. He had to cancel for health reasons. Unfortunately, I will never get to see him perform live.
Wow I didn't even know Gordon Lightfoot passed. 😢 What an amazing songwriter! Definitely fits well with camping with Steve
YESSSSS! AMAZING!
Agreed! I'd not thought of that, but Gordon Lightfoot would make an amazing soundtrack🎶 for many of Steve's videos. His music will be missed.
Lovely poem to a wonderful person, good onya
Proud of you for staying so strong through your loss, big guy! We all love you
I always think of that when I watch one of Steve's videos. He is a strong bloke ❤
I lived in a tent in Southern Oregon from 6/2015 to 1/2018. Me and my husband but he passed on 1/9/2018. And 17 days later I was in Portland, and by February 1st started a job. Now 5 years later, I am back in Oklahoma, live in same town as my mom, daughter and 2 grandbabies. I'm grateful for that experience. Lived in 4 seasons. Woke up to feet of snow 2 x in that time frame.
Thanks for your video.
Interesting life you must have lived.
@@itsTodd oh it definitely wasn't boring! 😂 Very difficult at times but many blessings we received as well. 🙏
@@Brwneydgrl69 I’m sure! Thanks for sharing, take care
It was surprising to me to discover via RUclips that each camper (or bushcrafter, backpacker, survivalist...) has his own style to practice this activity, and you definitely have yours!
I have no idea why I get so much enjoyment from these videos. I don't camp or have much of a desire to(maybe one day) but RUclips really nailed it when they recommended this channel out of nowhere to me. I'm still here almost 2 years later and find the videos very amusing and relaxing. Thanks for sharing this part of your life with us Steve.
Get out and try it !
I camped in the military. I said no more camping ever again . I love watching Steve
I have watched his videos for years and they still bring me comfort
@@burnafterreading7335 because camping with Steve is actually fun
Steve, you inspired my wife and I to get out of the house and start (legally, not stealthily) camping! We've been out a few times already and every time we wrap up one trip we're already planning the next one! It's some of the best time we've spent together in the over 25 years we've been married. Thank you!
Outdoors is great
Even if it's not the riskiest of places to camp, it's still interesting to me because you are doing all of the things that I've only ever thought (dreamed) about doing. Driving down the highway or backroads and seeing all of these out of the way places that would be super cool to camp at is what I love about your channel because you actually do it :)
Love your first responder shoutouts whenever you see a unit heading to a call, I know they appreciate it!!
I am very inspired by the way you are picking yourself up and moving on. You’re very strong. Much love and light, Steve.
❤
I don't like to say moving on, it's more like continuing on for me.
@@lauriewaters7206 , fabulous perspective.
@@Soulvibesspeak Thank you, it's a tough journey. Our youngest son got married a few weeks ago so that brings on a whole other set of emotions. It's an every day journey.

@@lauriewaters7206 You’re welcome, sweet lady. Sending love , I wish you the best.
I love your videos no matter where or how you camp. As long as I'm camping with Steve, I'm content and having fun! Steve, camp anywhere you want. We will always be there with you.
:)
I once had a little fiberglass camper and it was set up inside just like yours. I loved the thing! It was so handy doing outdoor antique shows. One day on my way packed to the ceiling with my antiques, the door popped open and my toilet paper UN-scrolled all down the Highway. Good times!
I just enjoy spending half an hour with Steve. It doesn't always have to be suspenseful. That's why I like the alternative normal camping videos and home restoration videos he sometimes puts out.
I think you've put perfectly. Everytime Steve posts a video it feels like "Hey my buddy is back online, lemme spend half an hour with him catching up, so he can tell me his latest crazy adventure "
this guy just starting popping up in my recommended and i cant stop watching and i was wondering why. i think you put it well hes great company
Steve Wallis is the goat of RUclips. We will always adore your Steve!!!
Biden? Don’t you have some kids to smell?
I think a lot of youtubers could learn from you, especially camping/vanlife/nature related creators. I like how it's just chill and a reasonable pace, too many people go hard with jump cuts and shouting and drone shots. Sometimes all it takes is a chill guy doing interesting things
Steve, just wanted to say your videos have brought me a lot of joy in a very dark time of loss. You are a constant light. Thanks, man!
And P.S. not sure if anyone has ever told you this but you should look into doing voiceover work or reading books for audio. You've got a great voice for it!
Can we all just take a second to appreciate this man. He wonders if he's 'got the guts' to go through with something claustrophobic while at the same time having firmly decided to boldly wander into dragon territory.
Thoughts, well wishes, and general good vibes to you and everyone else out there Steve.
My thoughts exactly
Steve: “Hold my step 2 while I get my self into a situation…on purpose…”
It'll be caving.
Amen brother
You know what I love that happens when stealth camping? Even the most mundane looking place starts to feel like home. You start recognizing every plant, stone, branch. After a while that mundane place that everyone would have overlooked becomes something special for you.
Thanks again for your videos!
I know exactly what you're saying
Do you camp in the gardens of your JCC/armory too?
I actually love this. It's hard to explain the feeling you get when a random place starts to feel like home.
It's like making a fort to hang out in with your friends. We had a bridge instead of a fort, but it had a lovely couch and wind chime😅
"I'm just alone on my stone."
Perfect. ❤
I explained your channel to a friend as “Sort of Bob Ross Camps.”
I don’t love camping myself but there’s something’s about your vibe that just puts me at ease
hey steve, it's not all about stealth and excitement.. sometimes it's nice to just hunker down for a relaxing night outside in the hammock
I like the hammock videos I was wondering when it would make an appearance again
I don't mind at all Steve - your version of a boring stealth camp is my idea of a great half-hour of viewing pleasure. Thanks for posting, I look forward to every Thursday because of you.
Steve, we aren't watching the videos for suspenseful, stealth-camping action. Sure, that's how a lot us found you, it's just how the algorithm works, but it's not why we stay. We stay because of YOU. Your personality, honesty, and just plain wholesomeness is rare, especially on RUclips. You are lightning in a bottle. You make us feel like a family, like we're there with you. It's something that you can't create an algorithm to filter for on RUclips. Just keep doing what you love, and the rest of us will be along for the ride.
Facts😊
You might try a blue lens light. Like red, blue light is a "stealthier" color and saves your night vision, and you would likely be able to see it better if you have red/green colorblindness. I don't know how it looks on camera though. Anyway thanks for another entertaining episode of Camping with Steve!
I love when you start your videos this way. Just a vehicle leaving the scene while you watch them depart. Then immediately addressing us like, “Alright, let’s get started.” Top tier content.
Thursday is not complete without Mr. Hunker-Down’s adventures
Imagine driving down the highway and all of a sudden smelling food when there's nothing but trees for miles and miles😂
Steve, joining you each week for camping in unusual places is the main thing. Stealthers with a bit of tension are great but the relaxed ones are wonderful in a different way and I greatly enjoy both. Planning one and ending up with the other doesn't diminish how watchable the video is. Keep it up.
Man, I love this guy. He is the true definition of a real life legend. Never give up, no matter what.
I was watching a British guy the other day on his backpacking adventures. He doesn’t have a lot of subscribers or anything like that. But at one point when things settled down he pulled out a beer and said “as Steve Wallis would do, it’s time for step 2”. It’s so cool to see how much you’ve grown and how far your reach is. Keep up the good work!
What is his channel, please?
Maybe Kent survival
I know the Blot Outdoors Show has been a big fan of Steve for a long time, and he is in NE England.

Stealth camping is too stressful, but i still watch all of them. 😁😁
Its amazing to me that Steve thinks that we only watch him for stealth camping😂. We watch your videos because your a great man. Kind, honest and sincere in a world thats absolutely crazy.
I could watch you talk about life and lessons youve learned and be just as content. Youve managed to hang onto that inner child most of us only dream we could be.

This is therapy with steve. We all need it.
For some reason I really like this video. It may be because you are so calm. The lack of startling encounters or near misses doesn't make it boring for me.
I enjoyed the older media references, "my bags are packed and I'm ready to go" and "The Brave Little Toaster." I hope you also threw in more current ones for younger viewers to enjoy. I want you to have lots of subscribers and the support you need to continue teaching us about appreciating life.
Awesome to see you Steve! Keep at it. I'm homeless, and I sleep by the tracks very often. It's a good place to camp. The jurisdiction can confuse cops into leaving you alone considering the railway has there own police. And hearing trains can be soothing at night.
I think we can all agree the level of risk doesn't mean it's a bad camping video. It's still an interesting place regardless of the low risk of being caught.
We all watch Steve for the enjoyment but he's always dropping serious camping safety knowledge. What a total legend.
I never met a clone of Steve when I vacationed in Detroit.

Nothing like a relaxing evening watching some stealth camping with Steve! You’re the best Steve! Super stoked I’m going camping Memorial Day weekend
Former chef here, that pan wasn't hot enough in the spot where you put the chicken that the coating fell off of, and was too hot on the side that burnt the chicken. Just try to elevate the pan a bit next time so it can heat evenly :) (Side note, cook for a decade before I went to school to be a chef, not one anymore, but my chef's finals were of course cooking. I brought in my cast irons, everyone made fun of me. By the end of the competition professor chef said it was a good idea and the entire class was asking me where to get them. I had no clue, ours were handed down - who knows how old they are. Get a light weight cast iron skillet, you can more easily avoid this problem.)
Always a good day, when there's a new Steve Wallis stealth video! Have a good day, Steve, and everyone that reads this comment:)
