Interesting video. Having been homeless a time or two, I have learned how to camp in urban areas. Little twig hobo stoves work great and using only twigs and small sticks (no larger than a pencil) I would cook the food and heat wild water to purify. Have done those freeze-dried eggs before and that is why it is always a great idea to carry a bottle of hot sauce. The hardest time in urban camping is that after the 89 quake, there were so many other folks who were made homeless and the SF bay area is pretty large and populated and doing stealth urban camping meant going the extra distance to isolate myself from the masses. Forget the police, it was the other desperate folks one needs to be concerned about. And I ate a lot of fish and did a lot of fishing. Foraging for wild edibles helped a lot too. And since I needed to earn money to get stable again, I found some cedar trees to camp under and stash my gear in the branches, out of sight, out of mind. 8 months before I had it together enough to be no longer homeless. Yes, the property owner has no right. He doesn't have to worry about liability if you get hurt on his property. It's not right to tell you princes of the universe has no right?
You had me laughing less than a minute in. "First time in a kayak. Let alone, an inflatable one". And the comment of the people on the freeze dried package looking happy. So it must be good. Keep them coming.
I’m gonna try stealth camping. Gotta find asymmetrical hammock see if can sleep in it. Steve seems to like it. My go to gear is a tent. Oh ya. I’m 64 grandma. Camping since I was 6. But not as much fun as Steve! Same reason love being outdoors sounds. Air. Nature. Thanks Steve!! U r my inspiration
Always carry Tabasco sauce for those freeze dried meals. Makes em taste so much better. Chili Mac Mountain House is pretty good. So is the Lasagna. Give it a try.
I second the lasagna, athough I 'cheated' and brought some parmesan and added italian spices. The beef stew is good - but needs more salt and pepper (which I always have camping). The beef stew is one of the few where you add *more* water than it says. For the breakfast stuff, I add less - or it turns to nasty slimy slop-eggs.
With so many others flooding the market with survival type videos it has been getting stale. This is a refreshing take on getting outdoors. Keep it up.
I started watching these a few weeks ago and it inspired me to go camping alone. I loved it and now I'm planning more solo camp trips. Love what you do Steve keep it brother.
Hi I'm loving your trips out as I do similar things in the south of England UK. I find it fascinating as the night sounds are so different. Ie. Coyote and seeing beavers. I'm 56 but when I'm out in the kayak I become 20 and relaxed. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks Steve. Your videos are interesting, unpretentious and inspiring. Your adventures help me to wind down and prove that enjoying life isn’t about money or prestige 👍
You gave me a great idea! I suffer from the ABSOLUTE lack of access to even a scrap of land allowing camping, within tens of kilometers. A nearby river with a canoe/rafting boat opens up completely new possibilities for me. Thanks ; )
“Why are you doing this?” Because there is adventure, camping, excitement, outdoors, nature, God’s creation, away from the stress of the city, break-up the day-to-day grind and so much more!
Don't really understand why people decided to jump down your throat for believing that this is all God's creation. Shows their immaturity I suppose. Good on you Kevin, keep feeling the spirit of adventure!

Only recently found Steves channel and have been watching his videos everyday to make me smile. I'm getting the urge to go camping but no one I know is interested, so watching Steve inspires me to do my own thing. I also love that he doesn't get mad if something goes sideways, he just rolls with it. (if he does get mad like every human would, he sure handles it really well on camera)
I always find Steve's videos engagingly chaotic, and I love his attitude. He actually looks to be having fun unlike some of the other more hardcore, gung ho campers who seem to be obsessed with shaving even grams from their state of the art ultra lightweight gear.
Hey, Steve! I'm enjoying all your videos. They are quite relaxing. I have often thought it would be nice to have something like a van or a small RV to camp in by myself but I think it would be hard to relax and not worry about the human-type wildlife. Thanks for sharing your adventures! 🦊🍻🦝

Because you're an awesome teacher who's helping folks learn that they're not trapped in mundane lifestyles. Thank you, Steve. I loved your Dakota fire pit, too. Excellent!
I recently started watching your videos, but like others, I am addicted! I had to laugh when you spilled the water when you started your dinner…probably because I can relate to it. Keep up the good work Steve. So sorry to hear about your wife, but I’m sure she would want you continue these videos.
Whenever I go backpacking I always use the Mountain House freeze dried food. When you hike all day it's nice to just have to boil water and your good to go! All the ones I tasted are good!
Yeah, MH is good. It's a bit humorous to watch somebody who has never had freeze dried food or used a mess kit. You must have had a deprived childhood to never do those things. :D
When I was in the Army (30 years or so ago) we had a little bottle of Tabasco in some of our MRE’s. No matter what the main course was, it was always good. I would always trade guys for their Tabasco sauce.
I enjoy the Mountain House brand as well. It takes a couple tries to get the hang of the bag prep. I like to put the package inside a jacket or something when possible to keep the bag insulated. (I have absolutely put this upright in my sleeping bag.) I also stir about half way through; and sometimes add a little bit of water. The JediMaster is on point with the Tabasco. The small bottles come in super handy. I'd encourage you to try them again, Steve. I went through all the flavors over time and found the ones I like best. They're super handy and fit that #NoDishes lifestyle. Happy Hunkering!
Steve! You Rock Star!! I love everything you do! You aren’t afraid to try to do things and that is awesome. I’m a former Marine and I love watching your videos!
I have been sick for a few weeks now and the only thing i can stomach is watching your videos. You don't even realize how much your videos mean to me. Thank you Steve.
Steve, I am going through a divorce right now. Your videos and how you talk about your wife help me not be bitter and remind me of the love we shared. Thank you for helping me not be a woman hater.
My wife committed suicide 5 years ago. Her and i loved to camp and have camp fires at the house. She would have loved to see these. Never forget the good times that you had with your ex because she could be gone in the blink of an eye.
I've been working my way through your videos. Really enjoying them so far. The end of this one with the Bandito Scramble had me smiling the whole time. The sigh/groan right before you tasted it was very telling. Sometimes you have to suffer for your art, I guess. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

@@valerief1231 very true! I've done some weird stuff in my day! 🤣
"I'm not homeless" 🤣👍 Another great video Steve!!!
Ever bump into any homeless folk to share your whiskey with
Way to go promoting leave no trace camping ⛺️
"I'm not homeless..." cracked me up 😄. I appreciate what you're doing and don't think it's weird whatsoever. From Southern CA, stay cool bro ✌🏽.
SoCal here, as well. I love camping in the San Gabriel Mountains. Climb a mountain, set up camp. I love the mountain tops.
@@j.hetfield9422 Nice! I don't do the camping thing but I use to go to Azusa canyon all the time.
Well! I,m up at 3 in morning drinking my coffee and watching your vedioes. I love how you always find the best spots to camp. Be safe.
More of a franks guy myself
Out in nature right this moment and you are so right! Tabasco always saves the day! Cheers 🍻 🥃
I would recommend tapatio.
I gotta say you are one of the best content creators in 2020. There no drama no politics just camping. Keep going strong
With so many others flooding the market with survival type videos it has been getting stale. This is a refreshing take on getting outdoors. Keep it up.
Awwww, a beaver! How adorable is that? I didn't know you could see them just doing their thing in such a populated area.
I started watching these a few weeks ago and it inspired me to go camping alone. I loved it and now I'm planning more solo camp trips. Love what you do Steve keep it brother.
Great idea!! I am about to relieve myself of some responsibilities that have been keeping me homebound....time to get out and enjoy myself.
@@UltraReefReseller 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
Hi I'm loving your trips out as I do similar things in the south of England UK. I find it fascinating as the night sounds are so different. Ie. Coyote and seeing beavers. I'm 56 but when I'm out in the kayak I become 20 and relaxed. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks for the huge laugh when you dumped the water into your stove. Love your adventures!!!
That was awesome!
😁
Always wonderful to camp with you brother. As you have read b4, you are a pleasant soul such as the Bob Ross of camping. Be safe as always. Camp on.
Well said 😊
Hey Steve! Bring a little hot sauce with you everywhere it can fix a lot of food 😂
Ask hillary .. she always carries in her purse
Tabasco, drop or two or six.
Even Beyonce carries hot sauce in her purse!!

i think "Camping with Steve" should be your channel name
I love the way Steve always say my Beautiful Wife. Respect.
And he's not just saying that, she really is beautiful. He's a lucky guy for sure.
I happened across your channel by chance and I immediately subscribed! Love your adventures and humor! Thank you!
watching this, eating a halfmoon cookie, relaxing. finally some goodness in this day. Thank you
Love your content bro. Keep doing what ur doing and hunker down with a whiskey.
Not going to lie, the unusual stuff is why I keep watching. You embody the true outdoors man I want to be. "get outside and do stuff"
Really enjoying your unique, fun & humble approach.
I think this is the only time I have ever heard the word "girth" used in a purely wholesome amd innocent way. Right on, Steve!! 😂
Thanks ; )
"That seemed a little inappropriate some how"
Steve, you are legendary.
😂😂😂
Incredible camp on the river - loved the fire build! Just got my first kayak and can't wait to explore my local river!
Steve, that shoutout broke my heart. You are the sweetest guy, love it! Now to watch you taste this "stew"...
“Why are you doing this?” Because there is adventure, camping, excitement, outdoors, nature, God’s creation, away from the stress of the city, break-up the day-to-day grind and so much more!
things were good until god.... if god was real he would be the biggest asshole/bully to ever live
Don't really understand why people decided to jump down your throat for believing that this is all God's creation. Shows their immaturity I suppose. Good on you Kevin, keep feeling the spirit of adventure!
If god was real then spider man is too
I'm really enjoying your "Stealth Camping" videos, it's an interesting idea.
I agree with the previous comment. There is an addictive quality to watching them. I've watched more than 25 or probably less than 100
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that's enjoying the frequent videos this week.
Great job Steve
just found this channel honestly never liked many yt channels so this is now my favourite channel lol your so real and funny
honestly i laughed alot through-out the video Thank you for taking time out of your days to make us these wonderful hillarious videos!!!
Edit: Something I Forgot to say
Thank you so much for being such an influence to children
Get out and get some air in the wild and enjoy life
Cause alot of kids these days are just playing on their phones and computers and stuff
We need to just get everyone out of the house and all enjoy life
These stealth camping videos are good stuff man. Take it eazy !!
Just a regular guy doing regular stuff without spending tons of money. I really enjoy these videos
I'm just now watching this video. Your gear has definitely stepped up. I'm so glad I started watching your videos bc they are calming, fun and you're hilarious. Cheers Steve
You just showed up on my feed. Have no clue who you are but this is great. Definitely subscribing.
Same
One honest and humble camper. That water spill on the stove part really make my day...Shout out from malaysia fan.
Steve love the fact you pick up what trash you can from other idiots it shows what kind of person you are, try packet gourmet (internet) one of the better freeze dried foods you can eat, keep up with the great videos
Steve you are the frigging man brother!
I've been watching your stuff for a while now and you never have disappointed sir.
Thank you for taking time to entertain us.
A new fan from across the pond over in England. Been getting into the habit of falling asleep to your videos because they are so relaxing. You’re a cool dude, Steve. Much love.
There's something hilarious about you. But I am a visual learner and humor makes learning fun. So I applaud your courage and love for teaching. Because you're an awesome teacher who's helping folks learn that they're not trapped in mundane lifestyles. Thank you, Steve. I loved your Dakota fire pit, too. Excellent!
This was a really nice comment 😁🌲
When you spilled the water I started crying laughing. Love the channel
Lmao....
Blooper #1...
wow.. simple brain on ya
I recently started watching your videos, but like others, I am addicted! I had to laugh when you spilled the water when you started your dinner…probably because I can relate to it. Keep up the good work Steve. So sorry to hear about your wife, but I’m sure she would want you continue these videos.
That's my favorite moment of this video.😆 Steve is awesome for leaving things like that in his videos. Makes it more relatable.
Forget the haters. Just love being outside!! Love the vids man!! Keep it up.
*lights fire*
*instantly drops water on fire*
Me: laughed for a solid minute
but props... he's man enough to include his mistakes !
"Pete (his dog) don't like whiskey but I love it!" Ray Bradbury's - Illustrated Man
I like how the pellet relights despite the water.
I’m still laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And he acted like no big deal, you'd have been laughing at me for cussing all over the place! Haha!
Whenever I go backpacking I always use the Mountain House freeze dried food. When you hike all day it's nice to just have to boil water and your good to go! All the ones I tasted are good!
Maybe Steve didn't get the needed boiling before putting water into the bag?
You’re awesome, man, thank you for continuing to do these. It can’t be easy, especially editing, but the million+ of us sure appreciate it.
U got the covids?
00:49 is hilarious! 😂😂😂
Steve, we don’t deserve you. Your videos are so therapeutic. Thank you for all that you do!
I pray for the best for you guys!
@@brightspacebabe I am very thankful for your prayers
@@robertwilliams450 wishing the best for you.
I've been working my way through your videos. Really enjoying them so far. The end of this one with the Bandito Scramble had me smiling the whole time. The sigh/groan right before you tasted it was very telling. Sometimes you have to suffer for your art, I guess.
Thanks for taking the time to do this.
In Scotland we have the right to roam, meaning we can legally camp anywhere (with exception to certain areas at loch lomond) as long you follow the country code
mark ritchie that’s awesome.
Last year I took a trip to Scotland from the US. Loch Lomond was nice.
Sounds like paradise 4 a homeless person
Camarillo Painting that bastard tried to sell me girls scout cookies!
How about for Americans on holiday? Would we have that ability or is it only for Citizens?
Haven’t been camping in years. This really makes me want to get out and do some solo camping. Also makes me want to come back to Canada. Such a beautiful place
@partisan You can still rely on the wilderness I guess :/
RUclips needs content like this.
Awesome Steve! Keep the adventures coming!
Lovin this low key dakota hole fire
Hey man. When you brought up how people ask “Why are you doing this”, do not pay any attention to negativity. If you are yourself and people like it, like and the other 113K subs. You’re a G bro. Bringing Carbon Monoxide meters, and patch kits for your dope blowup kayak. And bring sexual water. Survival of the fittest. You’re a smart guy. Fuck those haters! Be yourself brother. Obviously you know how to be happier than them.

Whats "sexual water" and where do I get it hahahah.
@@PaulGariepy The opposite of holy water.
Boil the hell out of water to make holy water, but put something overtop to keep the condensed hell.
there you go, sexual water. Sex is a sin, kids!
Love this RUclips channel and It was nice and appreciated to know the answers to those questions.
Steve kicks ass, bc he makes people happy doing what he loves, and we love that :)
“Nothing wrong with what I’m doing except I’m not allowed to be drinking this” ahahahah
watched this older one tonight... after watching a whole mess of the more recent stuff. love ya steve. i finally mustered up the courage to buy a hunkerdown hoodie:) go oilers go -- from Ottawa
Damn, if this is 'urban' camping, then im more of a city boy than i thought. I saw the winding river and evergreen trees and thought. Oh wow, The Wilds of The Canadian West. But apparently this is downtown Edmonton ? haha. Love ya Steve. Do a Film Gear / Behind the Scenes video, maybe even editing. Your videos have this simple yet poignant way about them. Id like to see how you go about curating the footage and audio and stuff.
It is downtown Edmonton, I live in the same area as Steve and I know where he's not at in this video.
Don't worries Steve I won't report you 😝
I’m a 100 percent housebound veteran in the United States and your videos are a real treat to watch! Thank you
