It's going to make cell phonea a lot safer and lengthen their lifespan. However Governments also need to urgently clamp down on Google and Apple in particular - for deliberately forcing premature replacement of older but fully functional phones by disabling /breaking critical apps (or slowing them down) - so they won't work on older phones - to force upgrades.
We've all had numerous phones we've had to discard because the phone can not run the latest version of iOS or android - or older apps suddenly aren't able to function - even though the phone was in good condition. How this common practice has been allowed to continue this long - speaks volumes about the general incompetence of government technical oversight or rather the lack of it.
Consumers need to be protected! We shouldnt be forced to upgrade. Despite Apple and Google claiming new features wont work on these older phones this argument is largely false.
Most phones even those that are 8 or more years old are quite capable of playing YT videos or movies and sending and receiving email or browsing the web etc - that is if the operating system software didnt explicitly block phone models or require some non critical and often unnecessary 'new' hardware option or feature only available in new phones.
There needs to be far more transparency from these two companies so they cannot force premature redundancy and replacement. It literally is criminal.

    - a small portion of the total battery should NOT be removable by conventional means. that would allow the phone to keep working while getting its main battery replaced.
    - adhesive is favoured by so many companies not just because it is anti-repair, but also a foolproof and cheap way to give water resistance. new phones need a waterproof design without adhesive, and that might unfortunately lead to using precious internal space for waterproof gaskets, seals, protective layers and other structures.
