What an incredible job. This is by far the best telling of this story that I have ever heard. Thanks for making and sharing.
There others out there that get more of the facts straight
Lizzie did it and Bridget turned a blind eye by staying in her room. How do two people get brutally murdered without making a noise that the whole household can hear?. Either that or she let the murderer in, and then helped him get away ( maybe the uncle). I don’t think Bridget was in on the murder, but I do think she chose to keep quiet about exactly what she heard/ saw that day.
No she gave a pretty solid accounting of what little she knew, and was really disturbed by it. The hole in Lizzie's plan was that she apparently didn't know the detectives/coroner could tell the murdwers didn't happen about the same time.Bridget was outside for Abby, and laying down upstairs for andrew, who probably didn't have time to make much noise during the murder.
@@kylez8010 do you think Bridget believed she committed the murders or thought she was innocent?.
@@michealfist9277 I imagine she figured it out at some point. I feel the same about Emma. It's important to note that Lizzie never accused Bridget or said she was lying, and they interviewed Bridget first.
@@kylez8010 so more than likely that if Lizzie was the murderer, then it was all her & planned it when she knew everyone was out. She was lucky to get all the blood off herself though.
Good point. I wonder where Bridget got the money to return to Ireland shortly after Lizzie’s trial? Was she paid off?
The thing that clinches her guilt for me is saying that Abby went out, when Abby was dead upstairs.
happy 2024
in real life in 1892/93 only god knows who muderd andeew/abby
and who is lieing in court
in a made up rhyam poams/song in folk-lore lizzie gave her 40 wakes
in books/maeizines with no facts from 1890's lizie become a myth/legand in lost histroy un -solved mystury
in docos/rearmanment lizzy goes to trail/jail for10 months
i see in tv movies/tv shows lizze is court day dreaming lizzie did it/muderd anderw/abby in her nude
I think more than just Lizzie were guilty. . .
She bought maplecroft with blood money.
No way I’m convinced on Lizzie’s guilt not enough evidence. Could see her having motive maybe but I could see a lot of people having motive including brother. I don’t see how you can hack someone up like that and not be covered in blood
Exactly!!
The overcoat
Things that happened ten years ago often have gossip and untrue facts that are repeated as truth. 130 years have gone by, so how sure are you about what is true and what is rumor? There are a few things that we know for sure. They had been having a heatwave, but that day was actually cooler than the prior days had been. There were very few police officers working that day, most were attending a picnic iirc. Those who were working that day and were sent to the house were not especially qualified for the job. The scene was not secured in the least, people came in and out of there just to see the dead. God only knows if things were taken or moved, and the police searches were not organized in the least. There were officers who claimed that the handle of that hatchet was in the box with the head, but they were never able to determine where it went and why it wasn't taken. The hatchet head was not used to kill Abby or Andrew. There was no human blood, it was animal hair and blood.
There wasn't enough time for Lizzie to have cleaned up and appear without any blood on her. There is something wrong. It could not have happened how they claim it did. I don't believe Lizzie did it, but I'm sure that she knew, as well as Bridget, what happened.
Lizzie did not mess about. Wonder how long she thought about the crimes beforehand . All those death stare moments with her step mum. The household must have had quite an atmosphere. The photos look chilling.
Lizzie was guilty as sin. They knew it then too, but the men on the jury would never admit that a high class woman, by their standards, could perpetrate such a horrific crime. If you think about it, even today rich people often get away with murder.
Have you done Hinterkaifeck?
Gesundheit...
I've read about this for 50 years, there is only one person who could have committed these crimes and that is lizzie. The reason she didn't get convicted are many. That was a really different time back then.
I've always thought she was guilty. Now people ask how? What about the clothes? What about the axe? What about this and that, etc etc etc. She had help. It's that simple. Also so many people came through the house, it's not surprising she got off.
Can’t say yes or no to her guilt. Every single podcast or documentary on it I’ve listened to has slightly different variations that could make a difference. If she did it Lizzy I feel had to have had help as she was not bloody or deranged looking at all. I’m going with not guilty I guess
The brother in law turned up uninvited.
I'm only 9 minutes in and there's already too much misinformation and sloppy research on this case, with which I've studied for many years, for me to want to watch the rest. For anyone who's truly interested in the facts of the case, look elsewhere.
Lizzie and Bridgett had to be Incahoots. Neither of them accused the other and they were the only ones there. How would Maggie come running when Lizzie called and not immediately think that Lizzie did it?
The thing that sells me on Lizzy's innocence is the fact that her clothes were not bloody.
But she burned a dress in the Woodstock burning stove the next day and it was witnessed.
And what I find strange is the timeline - there was little time inbetween the murders and she would have not been able to either change. What's more, she was not a trained crime scene cleaner, and yet there was no blood found anywhere, but on the bodies. Cleaning takes time, which she didn't have.
@@balletshoesespecially when you consider the period of time. Not like now with fresh running hot water from a modern boiler. She also wouldn’t have had access to modern cleaning products. I think it was another person either from the town or some crazy person passing through.
@@balletshoesthere was an hour and a half. That's forever. She could've covered up with something. Any number of things. No way some passerby just came and went unseen, did two murders an hour and a half apart
"The Man From the Train" is a fascinating investigation into the rash of ax murders being committed by one man travelling the rails. Very compelling. I am wondering if the time frame matches with this as well.
Lizzie Borden was possessed by an Ethros demon
Of course she did it, and the I think the only reason she got off was the jury wasn't comfortable sending a woman to prison or death, Also, she had those psychotic eyes.
I do not think she did it.
As a feminist this case always disgusted me, 'a woman couldn't possibly be smart enough' when it is clear as day she did. Again another thank you for bringing to light an important case.
Fair cop guv it's wos me! Jimmy Billy Bigbaws, the man with an axe, I'm a mean granny whacker whae likes a swig fi his flask!
Lizi gave her dad her clas ring n resented her step mom he gave a house to her.
Lovely monotone narrative
Bueller? Bueller?
Lizzie Bordon took an axe and gave her grannie several snacks, when she saw her swollen tum, she gave her Grandad a current bun.
Primo
How could the housekeeper take a nap In the middle of the day? And how did lucy borden know that her father was dead if she'snot a doctor?🤔
She was feeling sick. She had spent the morning cleaning windows on a fairly hot day and also had vomited earlier, possibly from food poisoning
Andrew Borden had no face left, and his head was half flattened. There's no way he could have been alive.
