Rolo Haynes is an incredible villain, shows up in your weakest moment and offers a deal that ultimately ruins your life. Truly the devil.
Hifza Hussain Yup
The teddy bear thing just got me. Probably the saddest/most disturbing thing in the whole show. In this season at least.
Blake Hunt yeah
Gui Porto I wonder if they can transfer her consciousness to a robot or something
it was a monkey not a teddy bear lol
Also the troll messages in the ending of Shut up and dance were kinda depressing
That whole concept was so nightmarish… I kinda pushed the fact that I know this happened to someone (albeit a fictional character) into the back of my unconscious
The narrator guy said that since Dawson was a doctor, he knew how to avoid hitting any vital organs while he was cutting himself, so why he was still alive.
I think you just answered your own question, he was alive because he knew how to inflict pain without causing fatal harm to himself. He didn't want to kill himself he just wanted to feel pain.
@@Cocopuffstuff I don't think he was asking a question, rather answering the one the lady asked at 9:46 . Probably phrased it wrong. and yes I realize this post is over a year late
@@VictorRodriguez-999 Hah
@@VictorRodriguez-999e forgot to add "that's why". And yes I realize this post is over 4 years late
@@gabri3l92 Yeah he did forget to add "that's why". And yes I realize this post is over 6 years late
I love the actress playing the main character (Leticia Wright), she's cute. Can't wait to see her in Black Panther! :)
I was wondering where I saw Shuri before. I could not put my finger on it.
Yeah this episode literally made me physically nauseous with the first story, made me really sad with the last story, and gave me a very satisfied feeling with the end. I just hope she took the consciousness out of the bear and put it into one of those androids from "Be Right Back."
Yeah like at least but her in a robot
Figgity Jones or just put her in san junipero? That way she’ll have her own body
"gave him that Joffrey drank" LMAO I died.
So did they
That purple coronation potion! I giggled
that girl is tchallas sister in black panther.
Oscar A. Ward omg that’s where I’d seen her before in black mirror. She was great in both.
Oscar A. Ward also David kuluya who is the main guy in 15 million merits plays the guy who sides with killmonger in black panther
SHE'S IN BLACK PANTHER, BLACK MIRROR AND BLACK MUSEUM
no shit
No shit
21:10 fun fact: the guillotine didnt always work. Sometimes they forget to sharpen it and it only cuts half way. So the have to do it again while your fully alive with your spine literally spilling out puss and blood. It is said to be one of the most painful experience a person can have.
APPA LOVES YOU! APPA NEEDS A HUG!
KnowYourHistory AAARRRGGHH
I'm pretty sure Appa's been choked to death by love over a bazillion times by now.
Oh no!!
Watching this from the beginning again and hearing Nish say, "My Dad lives all the way out here, and it's his birthday, my Mum wants to surprise him.." FUCKED ME UP COMPLETELY!
I'm 100% certain she can transfer her mom and the lady in the bear into a regular cookie program. Like she could put them in that 80's world. Data transfer should be possible.
This is connected to the San Junipero episode because the same company behind the technology created San Junipero. Rolo created the sick technology but in San Junipero, the company used it for good.
They all take place in the same universe, the writers verified this somewhere.
You also see the DNA reader from the USS callister.
@@deepspacecow2644and the white bear guy, plus the tablet from arkangel, etc... if i'm not mistaken
No fuck that. It's called having self-control Netflix is doing it the right way by having the entire show ready to watch an anytime it's up to the people to decide rather or not they want to wait.
I never binge-watch. One episode per day. I like the slow burn.
nah weekly uploads is normal for shoes and always have been, binge watching takes the fun away. i learned that the hard way with lost
Letitia is now my favorite actress! She slayed in Black Panther and took my breathe away in this. Goddamn she's good, and she's only 24.
I almost cried when Leticia was explaining the story of her daddy😭💗
Out of all Black Mirror episodes. This...scared the shit out of me. Especially the doctor and his experiments. 'Shut up and dance' is still the best piece of television I've ever seen. Not because I enjoyed it. But because it made me sit still....in shock...in awe...with my mouth wide open...for five minutes straight. Fucked me up man. Still get goosebumps thinking about it.
I mean the "devil" guy died on that seat, his "clone" was left suffering in the thing.
What is your point?
What she did was get revenge, there was no justice involved.
Popa I see, yes I would agree
I think she made several copies of his consciousness. But yea the copying/cloning is fundamentally wrong in concept. It’s not really the same person. But Most people can’t comprehend.
You guys were so shocked that people paid to torture the prisoner lol but that type of stuff happened in real life, look up Jesse Williams his story is a tragic one and I'll only briefly summarize it, he was a black teenager who was accused falsely accused of raping and murdering a white woman, he was dragged out of court by white residents of the community and taken to city hall to get hung in front of a large crowd of ppl including kids, they hung his body over a fire for two hours just dropping him down in the fire then pulling him up only to repeat the process, before being burned the mob castrated him and cut other body parts off, after the burning dragged they literally dragged him thru the town where people took pictures of him burnt and barely alive, they stabbed him, beat him with blunt objects, and hung him yet again, with the last strength he had he tried pulling himself up the chain he was hanging from but couldn't due to his fingers being cut off, he finally died and the towns folk sound parts of his body as souvenirs and they let their children snap his teeth out, they treated his lynching like a celebration and that started lynchings that all would be treated as a celebration even had a train that would drive right pass the "show" just so people can. So yeah the prisoner tragic story wasn't far off from what really happens in real life, human can often be some of the most inhumane sick monsters especially when fueled by ignorance bigotry and hatefulness.
Ignore all my typos lol but yeah I thought you guys should know, I just recently found out about his story and it's sad not many people know and I wouldn't be surprised if the writers did write this character story based on either Jesse's or other people's lynching just because of how eerily similar they are.
Great reaction. Been waiting for you guys to react to this episode. One of my favorites of the season. Good job noticing all those callbacks, some of which I missed. Chris, interesting perspective on the daughter's means of revenge. And good job, Margi, for figuring out the meaning behind the song being played in the car.
Marketa's dance moves during the opening minutes of the episode are epic.
The keychains are copies, they aren't the actual consciousness. If they were there would be no reason to end her father. Plus she says she is ending him and her father at the same time.
Dang no more Rick and Morty for Blindwave and no more Black Mirror for Normies. Sad day for Patreons :(
At least they're starting the Punisher (the Normies).
Re Navi's question, you know exactly the sort of person who would visit that museum and do the electrocution - YT just demonetized his large channel.
Bill Watson who 🤔? Milo? Richard Spencer?
J207
Any white who believes in white self determination will do.
J207 Jake Paul
Logan Paul would do the electrocution and film it. (And laugh to it.)
@@tsogobauggi8721
"WHAT UP LOGANG WERE AT THE BLACK MUSEUM ABOUTTA GET A SOUVENIR FROM A CRIMINAL, PRETTY COOL STUFF-"
i got a mini heart attack when the cloack passed 10 minutes, you guys are living on tge edge of fair use lol
I gotta tell you Chris, Teller is actually a phenomenal magician. And highly respected, too.
11:28 It's always funny how Marketa's screams scare people. :)
28:06 Navi doesn't know who Penn & Teller are...?
fuck her
she cant control herself
every god damn fucking time she fucks my ears up
I have to lower the volume but then I cant hear anything from the fucking show ffs
@@beastmasterbg exactly. im can barely hear anything so i turn it up and she bursts my fucking ear drums. no one needs to fucking scream like that
“I need to watch a cartoon after this” 😂😂 exactly how i felt after most of the black mirror episodes
RIP Headphones 🎧 @11:31 😂🙉
Would be nice to have some warning like, 5 seconds before they explode our eardrums.
Jay V Yea they also didn’t seem to understand that with the state of humanity today the way it is, Charlie wanted to reformat our response to these particular stories.. Their reaction is what you hope these episodes illicit from the general public but unfortunately most people want to bury their head in the sand instance of rolling up their sleeves and working to dial back our attachment to these devices that are supposed to “BETTER” our lives.
Penn and Teller "low rate magicians"???? Bruuuuh. They are among the best of all time.
Yeah, Chris is very opinionated (lots of negative comments and wrong conclusions).
@Blake Hunt Funny.
I like to think that all cookies eventually go into the cloud like the USS Calister crew, or go into the San Junipero Universe. Or are killed if they want to be. It's how I get passed the trauma of them being trapped like in White Christmas or this Teddy bear.
i love that “always something there to remind me” is playing in the car both on the way there and back. such a fun little detail once you know the ending
Favorite reaction vid of all time! I never tire of rewatching your reactions for this episode. I hope the five of you will get together for season 5 of Black Mirror as well; you're the perfect crew for this show.
As Kafka said. '' The meaning of life, is that it ends ''
as a psychologically disturbed ex self harmer , I can confirm that while I was doing it I barely felt pain only a weird sense of Intensity and release, which in itself is a High. cause when you stress your fight or flight response releases adrenaline that your body does not know what to do with. tension release is the same pleasure one gets when they need to go and after holding it for a long while , there is pleasure in the release, not the act itself though and its addictive if your environment is full of some kind of tension.
"She give you that Joffrey drink" 😂
You guys missed a truckload of Easter Eggs in this episode.
- The company that Rolo Haines worked for is called TCKR - which is the same company that maintained the servers in San Junipero.
- Speaking of San Junipero, the name of the hospital where the doctor and nurse worked was called Saint Juniper - the English form of San Junipero
- The first part of the Musuem (like immediately after the photo with the woman from White Bear) was made as a mock-up to look like the House from Playtest.
- I'm not sure if you got the effigy of the Kidnapper from Hated in the Nation; probably, and then it got edited out.
There's a ton of others I can't quite remember right now (aside from the obvious)
A bee from Hated in the Nation, one of the most obvious is the device from Arkangel and one that I actually got from this video is the name of the gas station: BRB (Be Right Back)
Also I'm 99% sure that the teddy from this episode is the same that is stored in Metalhead
I've always thought that that box full of Teddy bears in _Metalhead_ are consciousnesses stored in those Teddy bears and that's why the woman wanted to retrieve them.
I know this is late but isn't the bathtub with the blood on it from the Crocodile episode. Where she kills that guy.
This episode definitely reminded me Tales from the Crypt also. Another reason I loved it.
rolo took advantage of peter dawson’s failures and high mortality rates as a doctor, jack’s grieving and loss of his partner and mother of his child, and clayton’s wrongful conviction and hope of providing for his family just in case he wasn’t pardoned.
he was a complete master manipulator and knew to attack at people’s weakest moments. also the patients in the hospital who signed up for free healthcare-but just to be used for medical experiments. that’s something that could actually get implemented irl, towards low-income populations who can’t afford healthcare, which makes it even more terrifying.
i also think the irony of nish having her mom’s consciousness in her mind at the end was such a bittersweet plot twist. i can’t exactly explain why i think that is.
this episode is one of the BEST of the entire black mirror series.
*DEFINITELY* my favorite episode in season 4
What she says to rolo at the very beginning makes sooo much more sense when u rewatch it a second time
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU GUYS TO POST THIS FOREVER
Marketa's pre-reaction prediction was on POINT. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽... Also I loved the final wishes fist-bump between her and Chris, lol. 🤗 #LetMeGo #JustMissMe
“SHE GAVE YA THAT JOFFREY DRANK”!!!! Periodt.
Point of order - Penn & Teller were & have *never* been 'low-rent' magicians.
Suraj is my favorite, haven't even started the reaction, but am just happy whenever I see him in a video, and it's a let down whenever he's not here
5:50 Yeah, we are so predictable... [fist bump as well]
Putting aside the notion that a shared universe as opposed to "just easter eggs thrown in for fun" could end up having an impact on the narratives from here on out, it was an excellent episode, perhaps even in the same vein as the previous seasons.
Charlie Brooker (The writer for this show said not so long ago that all the Black Mirror episodes are in the same timeline
She did kill him. Hence “double decker mercy KILLING” lol. Rolo said the keychain was a snapshot of the consciousness in that moment of pain.
Ya'll should watch "Altered Carbon"!!
Z:\ Drive I was saying the same thing! It’s a perfect show for them to watch and it’s really good
yeah it has similar themes. Like the guy who's consciousness gets transferred into a snake.
the mom trapped in the teddy bear was so sad
After I found this channel and watched every video I tried to watch other group reactions but I couldn’t 😂 I love this channel
It's also worth noting that it's easy to say what you guys are saying now ("If I die babe, just let me die") since you're not exactly in the same situation that couple was in. (i.e new parents of a newborn baby)
Kids have a way of changing how people think, and especially how they think about their mortality.
I was expecting him to start one of the stories with "My father was a drinker..."
Wow, the girl in the middle, she is so beautiful.
This episode f*cked me up. Monkey needs a hug and I need to go cry. 😭
Chris "low rate" wow Penn and Teller are f**king GREAT Magicians. Put some respeck on it when you say their names. Teller even directed a great documentary Tim's Vermeer (2013).
Marketa looks so amazing in red hair
Suraj: "Marketta, you cant talk during reactions if youre off-screen!!!! REEEEEEE!!!!"
(will be first person to break this rule)
The beginning made me wonder if we'll ever get a 5 minute plus sing along episode with the Normies? If they set that up for their Patreon supporters (with the option for "mail-in" videos to edit) that would be even sweeter. Dunno what the song should be though ...
poor Navi didn't had anyone to hold on to
Marketable has such a beautiful soul. She is so sensitive and so real.
Oh, sure, unless you happen to be a "white Republican", right? Hypocrite idiots.
Man seeing this girl in Black Panther made me love her even more. This episode was amazing.
After being turned into a head cookie I would’ve just asked to get thrown Into the game from the McAllister episode.
Great story, one of my fav episodes. One of the best satisfying endings :D most of the ones this season left me very down afterwards lol
You can tell how the torture scene affected the man on the right and his girlfriend. He identifies with the character because it happened because of racism. The other 3 can talk about it without much takeaway but the 2 on the right are quieter because it’s more personal.
She got mad at the Black Woman for no reason. 🤦🏿♂️
What I find the most disturbing with the whole cookie thing is that the Carrie in the monkey and all the people in the afterlife in San Junipero for example, are all probably cookies and the not the real person. So Carrie is copied and then the real Carrie is killed, effing disturbing
Cookies are the people from uss calistor, basically a digital clone. San junipero, are actually people just uploading their minds (souls) into the internet.
Thank you for doing this. Was looking forward to it so much. Fuck the timer lol
1:27 That's actually kinda fun that you say that. There is a 'Famous Death' project. It was on some Dutch technology fairs.
It looks like a corpse cabinet. You lie down, get slid into there and then you start smelling (and I think hearing?) the last moments of famous celebrity deaths. Like princess Diana died in a car accident, so you smell the leather of the seats at first and then the smell of gasoline or something like that. I haven't experienced it myself (not many people dare to, I think), but... that exists :p
I vividly remember this episode and it make me pause on the show for awhile. I was freaked
30:19 - Aw, but c'mon now Chris! How is murdering someone for the crime of murder a logical argument in a just society? (Yeah, I'm being facetious; the main argument that works against executions for me is the number of innocent people that do get executed due to any number of flaws within the justice system (most often resources on both sides, and methodology (confessions for the fail))).
20:46 she's losing it 😂😂😂
Not kill the monkey, she's gonna free her. Place her in San Junipero, maybe? Maybe.
The couple on the right are cute together. The girl with red hair is always hugging or putting her legs on the guy :D
Marketa was broken as i was by the time we got to .. "Mummy needs a hug"...
Lmfaooooo "GOT EMMMM!"
What exactly is Navi's accent? Its like a mix of american, indian and something else. Her pronunciations are different.
Been trying to figure it out as well. I love her accent, it sounds so interesting.
it might be a lisp type thing.
It's mix of american and indian. That's what happen when you move back and forth
The Normies Yeah, thought it had to be something like that. Sounds so cool!
If you noticed she said she was from Britain. She should be complaining and sweating too if this was true..but not a single drop of sweat on her. Thats the first little hint they gave out.. nice touch!
rex d Wait what was the reason for her not suffocating.
The Best The poison was in the drink, the heat didn’t actually kill the guy. It just made him want to drink something. Then she gave him the poison.
19:50 wooahhhhh noww, the tables are turned i see
21:11
Fun fact:
Actually the guillotine is one of the most humane method to execute someone.
According to a comment here it wasnt cause it wasnt always sharp enough that you have to repeat it. Your still alive but your spine is exposed and bleeding.
more due to the executionner than the tool, if it's properly sharpened, it is the least inhumane (because we really can't call death penalty humane)
i mean the human mind remains alive for seconds to minutes after decapitation, so not sure if its the "most" humane
Man! There has to be a video of the Normies viewing, and watching Black Mirror Season 1, Episode 1!!!
Been waiting for this one! 😬😬
when i heard dinosaurs at the children museum i knew yall had to be in indy
All episodes up front is best. You have the option to binge or go week to week. The option is great.
There are a lot of shows that only have one episode a week on Netflix (ST Discovery, Frequency, The Good Place, Designated Survivor ect)
I like the main character more in this episode than I actually did her character in Black Panther
Random question for Chris on who still holds the record for most executions via Guillotine? Hint: it's not the French.
watching this cause Marketa told us to watch this on the what if episode 6 reaction video shout out to u
You know, this episode really f*cked me up as a Leverage fan because Aldis Hodge played Hardison who's love interest was called Parker. And now his son is called the same name.
Curious if Black Mirror will continue with TCKR because they be making San Junipero and all the tech here lol kinda a cool background tech company
11:30 Truck Chans first victim of 2018 before 'ZOMBIE LAND SAGA' started!
They just had to put a stand in for Richard Spencer in the episode.
I was sad that Suraj wasn't going to be in it, then at 1:07 - - I'M LIVING!
You guys should check out Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009) very similar themes about consciousness, afterlife and “humanity” with the added bonus of space sci-fi.
First I was like "Oh how sweet it'd be if your mother could live along side you. Even when you're very old, you'd get mom's wisdom:
... but then I think how fast fight would start with mine bc we'd be together all the time. And not to talk about how you couldn't do SOME THINGS bc she could see :,,,D
What about The Flash 4x13 reaction?? It got blocked, will you reupload it?
Altered Carbon has similar themes to what you were talking about in this episode. It goes into the ability to transfer consciousness and then extend human lives and how it affects the individual and society as a whole. Good show. You should try it out.
How many people recognized the museum curator as the Scotland Yard Inspector whas'his'name from 'Penny Dreadful?'
when I was watching the Black Panther preview clips and stuff I kept wondering why the little sister Shuri looked so familiar... Leticia Wright is Nish!
How about reacting to ‘End of the f***ing World’ next? episodes are pretty short, so you’d breeze thru editing... 😀
He's totally the devil, where's Rick Sanchez when we need him? 😂
So what happened to all the souvenirs of the imprisoned guy? Did they deactivate since the original was set free??
it would be sick if someone in a future episode has one lol
but to answer ur question.. it would be no because rolo's didnt stop when he died
people torture and murder NPCs in video games all the time. It's the same thing with extra steps. So if you go on killing sprees in GTA, you're hurting digital people who might have the smallest level of consciousness. Or maybe it'll be easy that way in like 20-50 years; killing and beating up NPCs that feel pain and suffer
nah lets be honest GTA npc's have no consciousness. They are a simple RNG based computer program.
If they had original ideas and emotions I’m sure people wouldn’t do that
I would think that people wouldn't torture random innocent copies of people. But they would do it to people they don't like. I mean, plenty of people hate actual torture in current video games and in movies. So it wouldnt be a common thing unless you're a psychopath. For example, my friend's cat killed a mouse and we had to get it out of the yard. We were all freaking out and realized how we were hard. Now when I loot dead bodies in video games, I think back to that realize how i couldn't do this at all in real life nor in VR (the type of VR in Black Mirror and other movies where it feels real).
But if NPCs in regular future video games were this smart or seemed this smart, I don't think people would have a problem killing them in the right conditions. Like GTA NPCs are jerks to the player 90% of the time. Play any GTA 5 right now, walk into 20 different NPCs and see how many are mean about it. Drive around for 5 minutes and see how many curse at you. The game is designed to make you feel better about killing random NPCs. Now if it were VR, it'd be a whole other matter...maybe. Knowing that its fake might factor in as well. it would definitely affect people.
