    Thank you for this explanation. A couple things I still wonder are these:
    1, if all curses were broken upon the destruction of the Trident, why did Davy Jones appear to haunt Will in the post credits scene, despite Will being seemingly free?
    2, even with all curses broken, how would the souls of those who died at sea truly pass on if the Flying Dutchman was now just a normal ship?
    And 3, how can Will Turner survive without his heart in his body if he’s been freed from the Dutchman, and therefore (most likely) mortal once again?

    • @SomeRandomNerdSRN
      @SomeRandomNerdSRN  3 месяца назад +14

      Thank you for watching the video. As for your questions, firstly, with the Trident of Poseidon broken, Will is of course free, however, the Dutchman still needs a captain; this isn't a curse, but something that is just necessary and a duty that was initially given to Davy Jones by Calypso, hence why Jones seems to return, there must be a captain and Will is now free. That said though, Davy Jones corrupted his purpose and was then cursed for abandoning his duties after his heartbreak of Calypso not showing up at their scheduled "date" if you want to call it that, essentially; I have a video on Davy Jones from nearly two years ago if you're interested. I think what I just explained also answers your second inquiry, but to further reinforce what I said, Davy Jones' ship, the Flying Dutchman, wasn't initially cursed and the fact that he was ferrying souls of the damned wasn't because he was cursed either. Jones was cursed after not continuing this duty, as I mentioned. Finally, this one is a bit odd, we're not sure what entirely happened and the writers of the fifth film probably didn't think this part through, but I assume Will felt something after the trident was destroyed and perhaps his crew reinserted his heart into his chest, but I'm not entirely certain. Anyhow, I hope that answered your questions. Again, thank you for watching the video, I appreciate it.

    this is why the plot of the most recent Pirates of the caribbean is so confusing and annoys fans of the original trilogy. Apparently every curse is contained within a greek gods trident and breaking it releases every curse setting them free. But clearly they forgot about the first movie where another realm of gods exists (with different levels of power) and it supposedly fixed those ones to? was truly annoying when they forgot about that. Like Barbossa even says "the heathen gods placed a terrible curse". meaning there is more than one pantheon of gods. Calypso is even based in Haitian mythology. always get mad when they dont do research properly.

      Yeah, there are some contradictions because of Dead Men Tell No Tales (such as what you mentioned and the fact that Davy Jones was supposed to have died, but yet has seemingly returned as there must always be a captain of the Flying Dutchman, if you've seen the post-credits scene).

    I wanna know what happens if you stab the heart but like refuse to become captain or are so far inland from carrying the heart there to kill it. And then if that person does does the curse pass to someone new or does something happen at sea where the dead don’t pass to the other side but become like sea ghosts or something.

  • @riicky83
    @riicky83 2 месяца назад +6

    That raises an interesting question. If the Trident contained all the curses, would Will die when the Trident breaks? Considering how his curse works, the crew had to cut his heart out as a part of the curse. Knowing the human body, it can't live without the heart inside the body and if his heart is still inside the chest when the curse is lifted, then technically he dies on the spot.

    • @SomeRandomNerdSRN
      @SomeRandomNerdSRN  2 месяца назад +3

      Yeah, I intitially thought perhaps he sensed something and immediately reinserted his heart with the help of his crew, but if I'm not mistaken, Elizabeth had his heart in her possession, and I don't think he could have gotten to the island she was on fast enough. I think this is something that the film writers didn't fully plan out, along with a lot of other things. Although I enjoy all of the films, I agree with the fans that criticize the last two because there are some things that aren't fully thought out. Thanks for commenting and watching the video, maybe there is an explanation I just haven't thought of.

    Something just occurred to me.... Bootstrap has not only the curse of the Aztec, but also Davy Jones The flying Dutchman. Does that mean that in the events of the Black Pearl Bootstrap he had both courses placed upon him. Or did Davy Jones override the Aztec curse with his own curse?
    I would like to believe the idea that when Davy Jones came upon Bootstrap and offered him a deal, which was he would break the Curse upon him but in exchange Bootstrap served the Dutchman.

    What this should mean after the events of 5 is that 1) now william is free to leave the service of the dutchman without being cursed 2) that Davy jones minus the curse might be resurrected? human davy jones fr

      many people believe being immortal is the best thing ever. but you have to know that after years of doing the same thing over and over again it be boring.
      also yes your body can be immortal but your brain is not. you will forget alot after years the brain can only save so much info so you will either go crazy or forget stuff all the time and mix up things. then the fact that you will see anyone you do care for die so after long time you will try to not get any connections to people so you dont see loved ones die.
      so yes being immortal be fun for a while but after long time it would be a hard life.

I like to think of it in a similar light to Melkor, in Tolkien's world, who tortures and corrupts some of the very early Elves of Arda and morphs them into his own creation, Orcs, an insult to the other Ainur. In Blackbeard's case, he uses them as servants and enforcers aboard Queen Anne's Revenge, but I think you get the comparison.

      I believe someone made a comment regarding this when I first uploaded this and they even stated that it goes in conjunction with the Dutchman's curse. To continue this, I would even argue that it's not technically a curse and just a way for Jones' to help the Kraken track any foe who owes him. Perhaps I could have mentioned it as a subnote at least when discussing the curse concerning the Flying Dutchman.
