The man literally emptied his freaky hot pipe on his arm without a second thought and has a pet giant squid attack dog. How much more badass can you get.
@@LotusesPictures I was under the impression it was Welsh. I remember in an interview the actor said he decided to do a Welsh accent as the name Davey Jones actually has Welsh roots. Welsh, like Scots Gaelic and Irish is a Celtic language, so no surprise the accents would sound slightly similar when speaking English.
Davy Jones was such an amazing antagonist, I absolutely LOVED his character, he was funny but also really intimidating, everyone knew how fearsome and deadly this guy was and didn’t want to fight this guy, knowing how strong he is
A RUclipsr known as CGY actually uploaded a video 7 months ago on this very topic titled "Why did Davy Jones Look SO Realistic?" , and too sum it up as best I can. The reason why Dany Jones looks so incredible is because there was so little CGI used to bring him too life that the animators weren't overworked.
I think Jack did it to see where Jones actually hid said key. See how in the next scene Jack goes straight for the tentacle that has it and cuts it loose...
this scene at 2:30 has one of my favorite gags in the lego version. at the end of the scene, jack looks at jones through the other end of the telescope and puts him back on the dutchman 😂
Whoever worked on Davy Jones's CGI is the real badass. I mean how can a CGI done 17 years ago beat all recent work...mind boggling, coupled with Bill Nighy's acting he is easily my favorite character in all of these movies
Davy Jones felt like the stuff from Legends, a calamity roaming the seas, leaving fear and destruction in its wake. Bill Nighy absolutely outdid himself
@@serameena3946 Assuming Disney doesn't give him $300 Million and a Million alpacas, a fee Johnny has been quoted having to return to their services, we won't be seeing him again unfortunately. Be we can still hold out hope in that regard. Perhaps someday when the llama market is cheaper.
Pirates of the Caribbean Black Pearl: Fighting men who are like monster. Pirates of the Caribbean deadman’s chest + worlds end: Fighting monsters who are like men.
I didn't watch the Pirates movies until now because when I was younger, Davy Jones used to scare me legit anytime I saw his face. After watching them though, I can go off and say he is arguably one of the greatest villains of all time and I liked Bill Nighy's acting in both Dead Man's Chest and World's End.
Easily my favorite character of the series, besides Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar. Jones was amazing on the scene and had the best lines and body language.
One of the main things I didn't like about these movies is how weak they made his character seem in the 3rd movie, he was completely controlled by some little loser lmao, the secrecy and legend of the flying dutchman and Davy Jones was split wide open in the 3rd movie, and it just became some cool ship, rather than a ship of legend.
It’s an interesting thematic choice imo. Beckett literally represents the end of folklore and mythology, the twilight of an adventurous age. His menace is not through force of personality, or combat prowess, but as a stand in for humanity’s natural tendency to subjugate the world
So I played a warlock of Davy Jones in dnd (Pact of the Fiend) and I was a debt collector. And I quoted him whenever I could. Sad end of the story was that after collecting 100 debts could I finnaly go home. Only to find it claimed by the sea in a hurricane only a month after I left in the game.
Bill Nighy that played Davy Jones expressed that he received sad looks from the other cast members, since he was going around in pajamas with white balls all over and hundreds of white dots in his face. But i say that he is one of the best actors and voice actors. And looking back at these movies i feel sad in a way, that the times of good movies like these are over.
Yep. The story goes that one night when the sea winds moan, old shark-face will walk upon the land, and all his man-eaters will leave the briny deep and follow him, driving all of us humans back into the sea. - Milo Meekly, The New Scooby-Doo Movies - The Secret of Shark Island
If all the villains in the franchise sat together in a room everyone would go silent when they would hear the footsteps of the devil himself: Davy Jones
Imo they made him too goofy of a villain in at world’s end. I preferred how he was in death man’s chest; scary, cruel and mythical. In at world’s end he felt more like a human to me instead of a mythological being
3:41 palifico said captain goes down with the ship but u wouldn’t no he said it cause u don’t see his mouth at all cause of how far cause of how far his mutation has come

You do realize that was his claw right? Even crabs can’t feel pain in their claws it’s like armour

My fav villain ever, such depth, sympathy, cruelty, and stunning visuals

Agreed cap’n

the captain has returned!!!!
Two can play at this game. I challenge you to a game of liars dice. The winner gets to be the the captain of the Dutchman

How did they make davy Jones cgi more convincing than Thanos?
They took their time
Preparation like @leoflash7745 said, and the director was familiar with cgi

I think both look convincing.
Bill Nighy spent his entire time filming this in the ocean
I love how Davy is so caught off guard by how terrible of a bluffer Jack is at 5:55
