@@LotusesPictures I was under the impression it was Welsh. I remember in an interview the actor said he decided to do a Welsh accent as the name Davey Jones actually has Welsh roots. Welsh, like Scots Gaelic and Irish is a Celtic language, so no surprise the accents would sound slightly similar when speaking English.
Davy Jones was such an amazing antagonist, I absolutely LOVED his character, he was funny but also really intimidating, everyone knew how fearsome and deadly this guy was and didn’t want to fight this guy, knowing how strong he is
Whoever worked on Davy Jones's CGI is the real badass. I mean how can a CGI done 17 years ago beat all recent work...mind boggling, coupled with Bill Nighy's acting he is easily my favorite character in all of these movies
A lot of it is the fact that he is always wet, or cast in soft light, which naturally hides a lot of the defects of CGI, the best modern CGI still tends to be either when it's in soft lighting or when the creature is wet or slimy. Also Jones has the advantage of tending to be the only major CGI character in most of his scenes. Letting the lions share of the work go onto him. Finally because he is more a creature then a photorealistic person, he can avoid most of the problems of the uncanny valley.
I think Jack did it to see where Jones actually hid said key. See how in the next scene Jack goes straight for the tentacle that has it and cuts it loose...
this scene at 2:30 has one of my favorite gags in the lego version. at the end of the scene, jack looks at jones through the other end of the telescope and puts him back on the dutchman 😂
Davy Jones felt like the stuff from Legends, a calamity roaming the seas, leaving fear and destruction in its wake. Bill Nighy absolutely outdid himself
A RUclipsr known as CGY actually uploaded a video 7 months ago on this very topic titled "Why did Davy Jones Look SO Realistic?" , and too sum it up as best I can. The reason why Dany Jones looks so incredible is because there was so little CGI used to bring him too life that the animators weren't overworked.

Pirates of the Caribbean Black Pearl: Fighting men who are like monster. Pirates of the Caribbean deadman’s chest + worlds end: Fighting monsters who are like men.
One of the main things I didn't like about these movies is how weak they made his character seem in the 3rd movie, he was completely controlled by some little loser lmao, the secrecy and legend of the flying dutchman and Davy Jones was split wide open in the 3rd movie, and it just became some cool ship, rather than a ship of legend.
Easily my favorite character of the series, besides Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar. Jones was amazing on the scene and had the best lines and body language.
Bill Nighy that played Davy Jones expressed that he received sad looks from the other cast members, since he was going around in pajamas with white balls all over and hundreds of white dots in his face. But i say that he is one of the best actors and voice actors. And looking back at these movies i feel sad in a way, that the times of good movies like these are over.
I didn't watch the Pirates movies until now because when I was younger, Davy Jones used to scare me legit anytime I saw his face. After watching them though, I can go off and say he is arguably one of the greatest villains of all time and I liked Bill Nighy's acting in both Dead Man's Chest and World's End.
If all the villains in the franchise sat together in a room everyone would go silent when they would hear the footsteps of the devil himself: Davy Jones
Davy Jones and Captain Salazar are honestly the two best villains in PotC, they are both striking in appearance and really sell the idea that they are both cursed by the sea. Not to mention their ships are both unique and terrifying with supernatural abilities.
So I played a warlock of Davy Jones in dnd (Pact of the Fiend) and I was a debt collector. And I quoted him whenever I could. Sad end of the story was that after collecting 100 debts could I finnaly go home. Only to find it claimed by the sea in a hurricane only a month after I left in the game.
