Fun fact. Davy Jones, Calypso & the Kraken were all taken from completely seperate myths (English, Welsh/Irish & Norse) with absolutely no similarities, written seperate from the other half of the script containing Will, Jack & Elizabeth's storylines & was already a pre-written story for all the movies involving Davy Jones. Which means the entire Davy Jones arch was completely fabricated by the writers. Then it was mashed into the Comedic Disney style script in a way that made enough sense. Combined with excellent casting I'd say it turned out amazingly & props to the writers. None of the series was ever supposed to be serious but it works so well it was never questioned in production. Then 4 came out the writing died & Depp was being abused on top of not being enthusiastic about the new one, so it started dying. Hopefully with the new Davy Jones one they can revive it but without its leading actor I'd say probably gunna flop with just Davy Jones carrying it. #JusticeforJohnnyDepp

He was in love with someone who is known for being unpredictable. He can't help who he loves but at the same token, she can't help who she is. It's hard to be in love. Even after all that has happened she still loved him and he still loved her. He was not cursed until he turned away from his duty, and corrupted his purpose. He chose to shackle Calypso in a mortal coil, and roam the seas, damning any and all sailors who happened into his path. He made that choice. His grief and rage maybe her doing, but it was not Calypso who made him into a monster. He chose to be. Calypso is the personification of the sea...an all-powerful, whimsical, and eternal Goddess bound by her nature. She was never going to be Davy's housewife or stay true to one promise. She is bound to her nature and her sea like ways and this is what made Jones fall intensely in love with her. Her nature...Jones loved it but it's the very reason people just seem to state moronically that she was some unloving bitch. She can't go against her nature..dark and untameable as the ocean waves. ~~~
When people fall in love, they hope their love is powerful enough to change each other. Davy hoped his loved would be strong enough for Calypso to choose him, well at least once every 10 years. He knows she is random, but hoped his love would unite them. The fact that Davy still loves her shows that it was unconditional and true love (for him).
At least calypso wants him to understand that she can’t be changed, and she felt that she had played a part in what he is and didn’t blame him. And they still loved each other, beautiful story, and at least they got to be together at last after he died.
If you know you can't keep a promise "cause you know it's your very nature that doesn't let you", don't make that damn promise in the first place. It's painfully simple.
@Peter Griffin every single person has sinned against God. A sin is an immoral act that breaks Gods law. he lowkey is my favourite character his story is so heartbreaking he literally cut out his heart to not feel pain, he cried when he didnt even have a heart inside of him imagine what he was like when he did have it.
That scene was telling. Because the Chest was on his ship as Beckett came to ensure the Dutchman does as its commanded, the reason he shed a tear when he was listening to the box was because his heart was literally close to him again, the closer it is the more emotions he feels, and in greater depth. So rather imagining how much pain he is in that moment just imagine how much pain he was in when the heart still beat in his chest. A pain so great not even cutting it out was a painful endeavor.
Davy Jones was my favourite character in these movies , I understand the root of where his spite and venom comes from and he's not just bitter, twisted and evil without explanation. More villain's with "depth" like Davy Jones please!
Everyone who's been in an emotionally abusive relationship can relate to the helplessness and pain, that makes you want to carve your heart out. Great writing, great acting, great character. This is how it's done.
Seriously now, Bill Nighy as Davy Jones was the most perfect choice in casting decisions. Here we have an emotionally complex character that was once like any other man; but eventually ended up becoming a villain to all...but a GREAT villain to say. Jones was once an innocent sailor that one day became deeply captivated by a goddess, so much that he feel in love with her; and even eventually accepting charge of an important duty she bestows upon him. Now whether or not she truly reciprocated his feelings, we'll never know. But he sure as hell thought she did; until he found himself royally screwed later on. He did everything she asked of him, and only hoped to be with her that one fateful night...only to realize that she would never come. And thus, driving him to carve out his ability to feel love and empathy; and keep it away from himself and the world. This then leads him to become "heartless" and mercilessly cruel to those who cross his path as they lay before death's door; and even strike entrapping deals with them to serve under him for practically all eternity. He even went as far as cursing and binding his past love into human form so that she loses her power over the sea and may suffer at least being human(?) ALL OF THIS AND YET....he still held a torch for her this whole time, despite everything she put him through. Despite all the effort he put into never feeling the emotions that brought him into this position in the first place, he still loves her while staying conflicted with his inner turmoil. That's all I have to say about the world's best Pirate Villain for now , though I could go in even further xD

She didn’t lose it he and the Brethren Court bound her in mortal form. After she abandoned him he and the other pirate lords sealed her away from the sea. That’s why when William says “after which betrayal was it that you cut out your own heart?” He lashes out but doesn’t deny it only warning him not to test his patience. Also a lot of people like to point out that even his monster like appearance is telling of his inner emotions, Calypso is a goddess of the sea and her animal form is that of a crab, Davy Jones is a conglomeration of Octopus and Crab parts, in nature Octopuses are the natural enemy of crabs and crustaceans however we see he has a crab claw, that inhibits him somewhat, as well as his crab peg leg that very obviously slows him down. This is interpreted as him still having love for calypso and that love is fighting his hatred which is the cause of his degradation and form.
“My heart will always belong to you” I love how the tone of his voice shifts. It’s no longer harsh and direct. It’s soft and smooth. Really shows how much she meant to him after all the hateful and cruel things he was doing to smother the pain he felt. Tremendous acting

A tale as old as time: boy meets girl, boy has a knack for violence, and a desire gain the favor, and love of the girl. Said girl is turned on by his commitment, is ridiculously powerful and gives him a job that’s perfectly cut out for him, but they can only meet under certain circumstances, and after a certain amount of time has passed, and for only a certain amount of time. The boy agrees, does her bidding for years, but on the day they’re supposed to meet up together, she isn’t there. Eventually becoming aware of said enchantress’ betrayal, the boy completely loses his shit, and does something drastic that alters his appearance and his attitude toward life. A once shining beacon of hope is twisted into a ruthless killing machine of a man, that can only feel the deepest kind of emotional pain, and bottomless rage. Although he doesn’t like to admit it, he still loves the woman. The woman continues to observe him from afar, too ashamed of her past mistakes and too afraid of what her lover has become in her absence, and attempts to pretend that the man simply doesn’t exist, and ignores his plundering and killing sprees. Eventually, fate drags them together again, and eventually the man is so determined to distance himself from the woman he actually loves that he dies in the process, and thanks to the woman’s supernatural powers, they can be together in eternity in a sense. Moral of the story? To all the males out there, it’s ok to be in love, but don’t make your love interest your entire life. In other words, don’t be a damn SIMP. To all the females, people are not your emotional puppets. Just because you find someone who is enamored with you to be kinda cute doesn’t give you the excuse to lead the poor soul on. If you’re into it, say so, and mean it. If not, communicate it like a decent human being. Don’t be a jerk, but make it clear that you’re not into that kind of relationship with the other person.

@@GameDevAraz if you really believe that every single man is bound to a woman then you’re insane. Love is overrated, and rarely is it real. Davy Jones was never a villian. They only were fighting each other because Bootstrap bill swore an oath, meaning Davy Jones saved him from death. Also that Captain Jack Sparrow owed a debt. Davy Jones was saving people that drowned people. He also didnt attack ships until provoked.
Then I knew and understood that Davy Jones was just a man in love, I regret having judged this villain so soon without understanding the pain he carries inside

This is interpreted as him still having love for calypso and that love is fighting his hatred which is the cause of his degradation and form.
@@azazelsiad3601 Damn that's true I see
2:20 *My heart will always belong to you* ❤
Even with his monstrous appearance you can still see a small sliver of the man Davy Jones once was.
"Those who are heartless once cared too much."
“My heart will always belong to you”
I love how the tone of his voice shifts. It’s no longer harsh and direct. It’s soft and smooth. Really shows how much she meant to him after all the hateful and cruel things he was doing to smother the pain he felt. Tremendous acting
Love always hurts even if you are the captain of the flying dutchman...
Those who seem to have no heart once loved with all of it.
"MY HEART WILL ALWAYS BELONG TO YOU" - I CAN RELATE, EACH AND EVERY WORD FROM THAT STATEMENT!
This is perfectly edited
Thanks a lot ☺️ I've a Jack Sparrow tribute too on my channel if you're interested!
Davy Jones character is immortal in every pirates of Caribbean movie fan.I think situations made a good guy to a bad guy.. I feel the pain and sorrow😢 of Davy jones.
I was so surprised when I searched for "Davy Jones Edit" and something actually came up... And I can't thank you enough for it ♡
I wish we'd seen more of Jones' character... awesome vid ♡♡
And I can't thank you enough for your comment 😊 I love this character ❤️
We need a movie series dedicated to Davy Jones.
Dead Man's Chest is one of the best fantasy action movies ever made.
I love how the music box lyrics go "our love will never die" when davy jones calls out calypso and dies in the ocean he was cursed to watch after
"Life is cruel, why should the afterlife be any different?!?!..."
That applies to all genders. It can be the other way around as well.

@@GameDevAraz if you really believe that every single man is bound to a woman then you’re insane. Love is overrated, and rarely is it real. People are notorious for using other people as a means to an end, to satisfy their wants and boost their egos. And rather than tell people they should break free of simping and get what they truly want and find someone who actually cares about them, you would have me tell that poor soul to keep wasting their time with that one sided relationship?
The saddest part is that he wouldn't have been involved but The EITC and the pirates wanted to take advantage of Jones. He was brought into the ordeal by them. Otherwise, Jones was doing as he was supposed to. Watching over the dead
I mean its not like he was brought in by force id imagine the thought of revenge against the one who hurt him made him giddy inside so i think he would've did something regardless plus he watched over the dead so he couldn't have been sooo used by reg pirates
1:56 the way he say it 🥲🥲like he know everything , and literally knows everything
I've come to realize that love doesn't make a person cruel, love could never hurt a person its the most beautiful thing we humans do. It's unwanted love what breaks a person
My most favourite line: "Did you forget? I'm a heartless wretch!"
Im having flashbacks from my past relationships -_-
All that stuff for the. Baby ..
Sorry :/..
one of the best villain's ever. they did such a great job at making a villain that you can almost feel bad for. such great acting for soo little credit
Honestly, Davy Jones might be one of the best villains in cinema history
The fun fact about Davy Jones is that even if his hearth got separated from his body, he was still in a chest.
I have only ever seen one other fanmade tribute to a fictional pirate that comes close to this level of awesome.
❤️🔥
That’s an understatement isn’t it, someone calling life cruel or unfair. Life does not care what you call it, it is not care what you do with it
Ten years, I devoted to the duty you charged me. Ten years, I looked after those who died at sea, and finally, when we could be together again, you weren't there. Why weren't you there?
-- Davy Jones!?
Davy Jones is up there with the likes of Darth Vader and Joker as one of the best villians ever
As a Vader stan: Davy Jones tops all
Who knew one of the most relatable characters in this franchise was a squid monster. Such great lore
It's been a week and what can I say I'm OBSESSED with this video. You really did a great job at catching the evanescent chemistry between those 2 characters The music, the edit, the extracts chosen... Awesome tribute to an awesome trilogy
Oh thanks for your kind words ❤️ I'm glad you like it!
This Has Become My New Favorite RUclips Video as Well!
The dialogue alone is enough to send chills down your spine. The music and the editing makes it even greater.
Truly an amazing character. Life is cruel. Why should the afterlife be any different?
If I want to be anyone in the pirates of the Caribbean; it's definitely Davy Jones 🐙
Davy jones aint just best villain of pirates of the caribean movies but one of the best villains of all time. He aint evil but destroyed by life and acts that way. Davy is sad character, even he murders still you fell sympathy to him
This hits different when you're alone thinking back and realizing what was and what is now. Ya y'all in group act different but those late nights hit hard.
Dude best tribute ever after half a year I still love it GJ
Thanks Liam ❤️🙏 (sorry didn't saw your comment 😮!)
@@cinevore358 no problem buddy
@@KlayypeX Thorin tribute soon, and then I will work on a Jack Sparrow tribute 😉😏
No, he was. Nobody forced him to make bootstrap whip will. No one forced him to corrupt his job like he did. He made the choices and reveled in them.
One of the greatest villians in cinema history imo. So well done.
Davy Jones needs his own prequel movie
This video did a better job at showing Davy Jones story ark than the movie itself!!?
The greatest cinematic villan in human history, dont even mention Thanos to me
One of the best movie villains in my opinion.
An incredibly moving tribute for my favorite Pirates character. Jack is a close second, but Davy touched me so deeply. Thank you.
Thanks to you for watching it ❤️
Davy Jones speaks out of my soul
I feel like BIll Nighy is a very underrated actor. Dude is amazing.
Great tribute man, man the Pirates trilogy is wonderful. Yep, trilogy. Great *trilogy.*
I dream of a scene where Davy Jones and Calypso are dancing underneath the sea after his fall.
It would be perfect
Well it was said that after Davy died at world's ends Calypso welcomed Davy back into her embrace because she still love Davy.
The peace he wished for
"My heart will always belong to you..."
This is like a trailer xD, nice work!
Thanks 🙏
"Untamable as the Sea" is my favorite line from calypso....
J’adore! Ce personnage méritait définitivement un hommage de la sorte! J’aime comment tu as utilisé son thème!:)
Merci mon ami 😊
The best villains are the ones you cry for.
davy jones is arguably the best and most in depth villain ever made
I need to rewatch my childhood this week.
This is masterpiece ❤
Do you fear death? Do you fear the dark abyss?
First words of davy jones the best character of pirates of the caribbean
Then I knew and understood that Davy Jones was just a man in love, I regret having judged this villain so soon without understanding the pain he carries inside
i always hated the i love the villain people but Davy jones was always one villain i could never hate, i feel for him.
GOD this was good. WOW
Thanks ❤️
Captain Jones.. You had one of worst pains in the world and
You were immortal.
I know I cant but I share your pain great captain Davy Jones
Life is cruel and love is a wretched bond that is for sure
The sorrow, the heartbreak, the tragedy.
My favorite lines:
You weren’t there, why weren’t you there?
I am the sea.
Life is cruel, why should the afterlife be any different
I villain is a lot harder to make a hero.
Motivation is key to every character, and the villains with always have the most harsh.
The most perfect line to describe Davy Jones….
“Him never stopped loving her. But the pain it caused him was too much to live with, but not enough to cause him to die……”
