Fraser putting on a clinic here. He serves the song and gives it a muscular rhythm, lays down a solid base for Kossoff to solo over, then unleashes the Jack Bruce- John Entwistle, type chops when it’s his turn to shine. And he’s like 18 here. Any aspiring bassist should see this video!

Patriotic Hooligan Those are excellent bands, and I enjoy Warren Haynes in any environment. But in a crowded field, listening 50 years later, a case can be made that Free set the bar for performing virtuoso , utterly unpretentious hard rock. This 1970 example is so authentic, so honest, that it seems “unplugged” or “unprocessed” in comparison to contemporary broadcast production standards. Catch their 1970 debut festival performance at the Isle of Wight. For a fleeting moment, 4 very young, extremely gifted musicians mind-melded into a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

If you consider how intense and thight is this performance, playing on TV and being just little more than a kid for the bass player - you realize how precious this is.
Kossof's solo is absolutely stunning and coming from the soul (listen his vibratos ) - teaching so much from my point of view to most of guitar hero of that time.
Fraser is just incredibly inspiring, he has just the control of the music coming the next seconds and manages to do what it really takes to make the perfect bass line + when the time comes for his solo he goes better to any other rock bass player to me. Amazing.
Paul Rodgers voice is just so bluesy and hard , I love it / even though I know that loving a singer voice is a very personal thing.
Drummer gives breath and strength to all the performance, so good.

These guys here were 17yr old Andy on base & ive never yet seen a bass player with a whole body rhythm like Andy had.
    18yr old Kossoff on guitar
Even Eric Clapton wanted to know how Paul managed to make his guitar sustain that agonised tremor
18yr old Simon on drums who makes it seem hes riding the surf & making it produce sound
19yr Paul Rodgers with tonsils like rusty barbed wire but makes his voice sound like silk being shredded as it leaves his throat
NO ONE can make sounds like these young brilliant musicians could do!
What 17yrs 18yrs 18yrs & 19yr old guys can put an outfit like
    Like FREE could
Just listen to that combined sound!!!
