Every time I try to concentrate on Koss’s masterful guitar playing, Frazier comes in hard on the bass, and his funky beat takes over every time. Oh, how I love these guys.
Saw Free at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, in the 70's. They were on a bill with Deep Purple and Manfred Mann....they blew everyone away. Great band, best vocalist I've ever heard in live performance. Held the audience of 30,000 to the point where they didn't want them to stop. Permanently etched as one of the best concerts I've ever attended.

Really excellent live version of The Stealer. Despite the sterile television studio atmosphere, they were in the groove. This is like three-something minutes of proof that when these guys were locked in and feeling that X factor, no band could touch them.
@@robertosborne7542 Yeah that's a common theme with these old video clips. Usually the audience is just sitting there like they are at an English lecture..lol. However, there are some kids dancing in this clip, and that always helps people get into it. I think it also has to do with television cameras. I think people are naturally guarded and more shy when that red recording light is on. Especially back in the day when people weren't used to being filmed all the time like they are now in the social media era.

These early performances: One thing about FREE was that their “sound” , LIVE and otherwise, was pleasing to the ears. By that I mean , you don’t hear muffled guitar or bass tones, the drums sound very well tuned (which is one thing I’ve always noticed about Simon Kirke in FREE & Bad Co.- his drum tuning and sound has always sounded so ORGANIC- very close to John Bonham’s signature sound/tone) - of course Paul’s voice was always spot on . If you think about it , that is a hard thing to do initially on its own , but as a professional band - back then - it was a must , because playing live , there weren’t all the sound conditioning techniques or technology there is today: it was raw , live playing. And that’s really how a true Rock band should sound: natural and not overly produced or unrealistically mixed with effects etc.
I first heard off free off a mate at work when he let me hear fire and water album that was in 73 they hadn't long broke up but I was hooked after that wasn't a fan off tons off sobs but free fire and water highway free at last and heartbreaker and free live were just ace🎤🎸🎸🥁

I love Paul in any of his bands...his vocalizations give me shivers! Free took the English Blues, hammered them down and then rocked them. Somethin' like that. 💙

As I remember Koss played two types of solo in ths song. Sometimes usual solo, sometimes chord solo. This time he plays mixed solo.
Not to forget Simon Kirke on drums, who really nailed it with his personel, kinda reduced style. Plus Andy Frazer on bass with his melodic playing

I was ten years old in 1970 when I heard Free, and I was sold.
I saw Bad Company without Paul and they sucked. I think they opened for Deep Purple.
I did see The Firm twice though and they rocked.
