my dentist keeps preforming root canals on different ones of my tooth, and what concern me are other root canals that's been done by another dentist, broken away and he isn't address. How do I know he has my best intention? These new root canal he's doing aren't hurting and I was told I needed root canals on these teeth 10 years ago, still no sign of pain or tooth decay, also how do you treat a teeth that's infection, the gum is swollen? he just suggest pulling it out, since its a wisdom tooth

So I’ve had a family dentist since I was a child. One way he diagnoses a cavity is sticking my tooth with a dental probe. I’ve had multiple filling and none of them have been diagnosed through an X-ray. Most of them were in my early teens and was wondering what your professional opinion is on this. He blames it for my genetics and that I have deep grooves.
Hi, Tre- There are several ways to diagnose a cavity, however, I don't agree that "some people are more prone" to cavities. I would look into a cavity preventing and reversing lifestyle rather than buying into a hopeless belief. All my best.

I didnt worry about it until one day they said “you need fillings”. thats the same spot ive been talking about the brown thing on the molars. they didnt even tell me to get remineralizing toothpaste while it was still early or they didnt warn me more about it.

I just wanted to ask if you had any tips on how to make my permanent teeth grow more..I will definitely need braces for my two canine teeth on the top of my mouth. I have another question..what do I do if my teeth feel slightly..loose? My teeth do feel loose, but when I touch them to see if they’re actually loose, they don’t feel loose, they feel just normal. I just don’t know what to do about my teeth. My last question is, one of my teeth hurt a bit when I eat some hard foods (such as chips). I don’t know if it is a cavity. If it is, do you have any tips to help me stop it from going into my teeth’s second layer! My dentist said that the cavity was only in the enamel (I think that is the first layer of a tooth, please do correct me if I am wrong), and that I could potentially stop it, but I’m just scared...it has been about 2-4 months since I’ve been to the dentist..Do you think if the cavity DIDN’T turn back and kept spreading, it would have gotten to the second layer of my tooth by now?

I'm so sorry to hear you're in pain. You need to get in to see the dentist as soon as possible. What your describing sounds like decay or a crack is getting close to the root causing pain, and it needs to be fixed before it gets worse. Cavities turn into crowns which turn into root canals, so it only gets more expensive and painful. Dr. B

Hi there, bfdi! Most cavities do not hurt, so it's very possible you've got some decay going on. It's best to go see your dentist to have it looked at before it gets worse. Cavities turn into larger concerns that end up costing more in health and money, so sooner is always better.

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone could help me. I have never had a cavity before and I am afraid I have one now. My teeth are sensitive when I eat cold foods and sometimes just hurt out of the blue. I brush at least 2 times a day and sometimes more, floss, and use mouthwash daily.
I’m not a dentist but if you brush at least 2 times a day (well: all the sides of the teeth for about a minute), floss, and use mouthwash daily you should be fine. Also make sure that the brand of the toothpaste and mouthwash are known brands like colgate. I would still recomend seeing a dentist just to be 100% positive that you don’t have a cavity but you seem pretty good to me.
Toothaches aren’t always cavities. However, they could be a sign of one. If your teeth are sensitive to that kind of stuff, that’s also a symptom. If you have a symptom, you should use a mirror to see if there is anything on your tooth. If you see a hole, it’s probably a cavity (although it COULD be a food stain), and if you don’t, you might still have a cavity, but it’s only a small one and the dentist will barely have to fill anything
Edit: I’m nervous of cavities too, I have one symptom and it’s the white spots, but it’s starting to go away, even though I’m still 11 I started using a grown up toothpaste since the kids’ one doesn’t really work on my teeth, if you’re a kid, maybe try fluoride grown up toothpaste?
